I love fast things and this was FAST! Freefall and the views were amazing!! I jumped the end of September and the weather was fantastic. Want to go again, but not sure about the weather, may have to wait until Spring, but I will be back. EVERYONE at Skydive Oregon was extremely professional and you could tell they love what they do. I HIGHLY recommend jumping with them.
Here's what we learned you need to know before you go:
You have to be 18 and there is a weight limit - not a problem for our group, but check if you are not in good shape. We were told it is a safety requirement with equipment and instructors. The jump wasn't super strenuous, but you have to be in good shape for the landing.
Reservations - recommend you call in advance. Popular times fill up on the weekends. $50 deposit required and yes, they do tell you there is a one week cancellation policy when you reserve. You don't loose the $$ if there is bad weather on your jump day. The female rep spent a lot of time on the phone explaining what to wear, bring, etc. very professional and helpful.
Video - Get video and photos if you can afford it. Ask for it when you reserve - some people didn't and had to jump later. You can check out examples on Youtube. It's worth it to have proof of your skydive and the person who jumps with you is amazing to watch in the air.
Jump Day - Don't forget your ID, the paperwork is lengthy and a bit scary. The class is not very long, but we had a female instructor (Teresa I think) who was funny and informative, she helped ease nerves. You don't have to wear a jumpsuit, but they do look cool in the video and keep you from getting your butt dirty on landing.
Instructors - I jumped with Archie, he was a pro. I think he has 14,000 skydives? My friends jumped with Josiah, Zak and Brian all were really pleased. I was told you can make requests, which I plan to do when I jump again.
Friends - Tell your friends to bring a camera, snacks and something to read or do. There will be a wait. While we were getting nervous, they were getting bored. Once we jumped, they were excited, but it can take time. There are tables and nice shaded areas available.
