My first jump was with SDI, I didn't just have a wonderful time, it absolutely changed my life. I had gifted myself that jump for reaching 230 lbs & I put my weight loss efforts into overdrive so that I could learn to jump on my own. I've not been able to jump in a couple years (surgeries/illnesses) but I took my first jump course and several jumps with SDI (and quite a bit of jumps at other DZs that don't close for the winter). I'm down to 120 lbs today, 52 jumps. It's been several years from that first jump, and when I'm healthy enough I'll be right back in the air with the best instructors you can get in the Midwest! The most important things to remember about this DZ is that the instructors are top notch. They really care about your comfort and safety. They'll accommodate special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, etc. Safety comes first naturally, but for customers? Having fun is your first responsibility! read more

2 reviews in 1: Aug 16 is my anniversary date of skydiving. I went on Aug 16, 2020 and Aug 16, 2019. Aug 16 2020: first, with the Covid crisis, skydive Indianapolis is handling it as well as they could. Masks are mandatory in all areas, even on the plane. You obviously take the mask off before you jump, I don't think it will stay on anyway. My instructor a.k.a. tandem skydiver was Andre from England. I had an amazing experience with him: we fell through a cloud and I was able to see a rainbow with in the cloud, I was able to hold onto the parachute handles, and I've got to learn a lot about skydiving on the way down. I'm not sure how much I "woo'ed" but it was a lot and it made Andre laugh. Sebastian was my videographer and I can't wait to see what he took. Not only was I a repeat flier, but I saw my instructor from the year before, Juan. He even remembered me, which is easy to understand. I'm pretty unforgettable. Aug 16 2019: was my first time skydiving, and it was an easy choice to go with skydive Indianapolis. I showed up on a Friday at noon, my appointment time, to blue skies and a few puffy clouds in the sky. Unfortunately, by the time we got in the airplane the cloud cover ceiling was too low and we had to exit the airplane and wait for the skies to clear. We waited probably 3 to 4 hours. I was thankful for skydive Indianapolis taking the necessary Precautions as well as ensuring that we would get a nice sky dive experience. My instructor Was Juan, he was so much fun and allowed me to stay in the air extra long. He even remembered me when I came back in 2020. It was nice to see that Juan had come back to skydive Indianapolis too! Now...when can I fit becoming a certified jumper into my schedule????? read more

Super great experience. Registered 3 of us last minute for the next day and got in! It was my first time here and my friends second. Great experience from the beginning walking in the door. We filled out our waivers, watched the video, and then after maybe half an hour to an hour got suited up. There were two planes before ours, so we had time. I had a fantastic instructor - Andre. And Shorty was my photographer & took amazing pics for me. Andre was awesome and walked me through everything, made me feel comfortable, and we got to do some cool things during our dive. What a great day. My first time jumping I'm 70 years old and am afraid of heights but I love to fly. Had to do it now or risk not having another opportunity. The facilities are clean and organized. The office people did a great job of organizing the jumpers as they arrived. The solo jumpers and the tandem jump leaders all had smiles as we were getting into the equipment. I jumped with Andre. I can't remember the name of the video operator but she was excellent. They both explained everything multiple times and answered any questions that I had. I must have been nervous because I forgot most of the questions that I wanted to ask until we were in the air and that was too late. High fives and fist bumps were everywhere. This is just a fun bunch of people to be around. I wish I could have tipped more based on the value of the experience. If you have any desire to skydive this is a great place to do it. Skydive Indy!!! WOW -- These people not only know what they are doing, Very serious about Safety, very professional and Super Fun to be around! What a wonderful, well educated in their craft staff and owner! Now ---- I live in Louisville KY and Skydive Indy is a 3 hour drive from my house! So you ask why in the world would one drive 3 hours to jump out of a perfectly working plane!! ... Well I did, because I have always wanted to skydive since I was a kid. And I drove 3 hours to do it (even though there is a place much closer to skydive), because if you are going to jump out of a plane you better do your research! LOL . Upon my research, I discovered that Skydive Indy was one of the most highly rated places to jump with safety a number one focus and I was referred to them by a random stranger in an online discussion. And what a Great decision that was!! Now here is why I speak highly of this place!... As mentioned, it is a 3 hour drive (one way) for me to get there. Well it took me 3 trips back and forth to finally jump!! (YES!! 18 hours total for ONE JUMP!!) - BUT!!! It was the owner Bob (who became like a friend to me) and the So Cool Staff! AND I MEAN EVERYONE!!!, the importance of Safety, how comfortable they made everyone waiting feel, the owners dogs who greeted every customer with love and gave people a sense of comfort and the overall family feel you got as soon as you arrived! SOOOOO -- The reason why I had to go 3 times to jump once is due to the seriousness of safety. 3 hours drive under clear skies.... UNTIL we get there and the clouds come rolling in!! Can't jump under low clouds (trip 1) - Can't jump in strong winds (trip 2) - Can't jump if storm is approaching (trip 3) - And each time you schedule a jump and the weather is in question, you will have to wait around to see if the weather clears up -- UUUGHH!! - BUT while we sat there for 4 to 5 hours, sometimes all day, waiting on the weather to clear, Skydive Indy makes sure their customers are kept busy and entertained. They had card games, board games, outdoor games, the dogs playing with whoever had some food or snacks, the staff interacting with customers as they wait and the owner Bob engaging, joking and laughing with each and every customer as if we were all friends just hanging out! They made me feel so comfortable I almost forgot I was there to jump out of a plane!! LOL Finally, late on trip number 3 I was able to do my tandem jump! My instructor was the BEST!! Super fun, Very crazy (which actually help ease the nerves) and so knowledgeable I felt like I knew enough to jump on my own just listening to him explain the process. I really like how they explain everything to you from the hows to the whys instead of just strapping you in and jumping!! I was even getting instructions as we fell through the air. I had the honor of taking control of the parachute and he showed me some maneuvers most people wouldn't have had the chance to do without paying for classes! I know this is long - But I truly am that impressed by Skydive Indy's facilities, service and staff. Soooo, Bob the owner decided to make a bet with me as I was leaving on some crazy ring game he had outside.... Well I won on the 1st try and as my winnings he gave me a free jump!!! This is the second sky diving place I have been to for a tandem skydive. The last one I went to was in Chicago. The prices are decent and the service is good. The employees are friendly and answer any questions that you have. I had called them ahead fo time and made a reservation online. You have to pay a $50 non-refundable deposit to make an online reservation. Weekdays are cheaper than the weekends. I would recommend carrying something like a snack bar or a sports drink since you have to send about 2-3hours there. The vending machine there has chips were soft and most of the products in the machine were sold out. It took us 5-7 hours to receive the photos and videos which will be uploaded online on a cloud drive. I would give this place a 4.5/5 read more

I've always wanted to go Skydiving. Always. I was finally able to make this dream a reality. After coming back from a trip to the Grand Canyon and right before my birthday we were able to go. Honestly I wasn't nervous at all during the entire thing. We did the tandem skydive where you are strapped to someone else's chest and they do all the work for you. When you sign up you are required to sign your life away in every way imaginable. I felt like I was signing up for a cult when we watched the safety video and signing forms. After signing everything you only need to wait for your plane. You get all ready and then board the plane. During the 10 minute flight up to the correct altitude you need to get strapped to the instructor. They go through a couple more safety things with you and what the procedure will look like once you jump then you wait for your turn. After jumping out of the plane it feels like forever that you are falling. Once the instructor pulls the cord mine let me steer us around. It was very cool! The landing part was hard because you are trying to coordinate two people with landing. The instructor takes control of steering during the landing but you do have to coordinate standing on the ground together. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely do it again! read more

I'd say, if there's one place you want to feel safe and secure in the hands of another person (outside an operating room) it would be here. Loved Doug--he had enough confidence for both of us, so despite some initial nervousness, he totally put me at ease. Thought I'd freak out, but nope. The only thing I hadn't anticipated was that because my allergies have been so insane lately, my ears were popping like popcorn. That was the only part that detracted from the experience. Recently, I asked my son what he would like to do on a mini vacation. He jokingly replied go to Hawaii and skydiving. While I knew I couldn't pull Hawaii off on a spur of the moment, skydiving was something I could do! I kept it a secret for more than a week, when we finally got within a mile of the facility, he looked up to see parachutes coming down and said, is THAT what we're in Frankfort to do? It was a great surprise to say the least! The facility is well kept and the staff members are fantastic. Mind you, if you plan to make a trip it will take a couple of hours. We were scheduled at noon to arrive and he didn't jump until 3ish. We weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter, but just plan ahead. Traveling from out of state? It's been a few years since I've been here (I've only been once), but I remember having a great experience with Skydive Indy. I was so incredibly nervous the two weeks leading up to this, but my nerves were calmed by the funny, casual, laid back staff. They assured you they do it all the time and there's nothing to be worried about (aside from that whole part of signing your life away via contract haha). My tandem partner was great. He was really funny and sarcastic, which is what I needed to lighten my nerves. My friend's tandem partner was pretty quiet and seemed to be having a bad day which sort of ruined the whole experience for him, sadly. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that there really aren't a ton of views once you're free falling. Growing up in Indiana, I see cornfields all the time, and that's basically what you see the last few minutes after your freefall haha If I were to ever go skydiving again, I would go where the views are different and would be more visually appealing (i.e. a beach). Great experience though; can get pricy though! read more

After signing your life away and watching a short video about the risks of skydiving, you meet the person you will be jumping with. Andre was my lucky guy, who had the perfect sense of humor and was incredibly knowledgable. He jokingly made me feeling comfortable throughout the entire experience and also gave me several pointers on breathing, posture, and timing. I was definitely the most terrified of the group, but the instructors were amazing with joking or distracting you to get your mind off of the fact that you will be jumping out of a plane above 13,000 feet. I had Justin as my tandem instructor and Alex as my photographer. Both were fantastic, and I highly suggest requesting them when visiting. Skydiving was such an absolute thrill!!! I cannot wait to do it again (in a different scenery). The facility was out in Frankfort (which still begs me to ask why "Indianapolis is the name) - so it was a bit of a drive to get out there, but nothing horrible. As you walk in you are greeted by an onslaught of dogs that the owners keep on hand. After checking in you are directed back to a viewing room in which you watch a legal video. Now, it could be just me being a stickler for details - but the video was quite old (possibly on a VHS) so the legality behind it was questionable in my opinion BUT I was with the lawyer from my office and he didn't see any problem with it - so it the restraints I stepped! An instructor helps you put on all the straps and explains exactly what each part does and how it will feel when you jump. They also go into detail on how you should position your body and legs during the jump. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the guy who helped us during this part - but he was great. At the times he had to point out things others may find uncomfortable he did a good job of making light of the situation. I had Frank as my tandem instructor and he was fantastic! We got into the plane second to last, which meant - we would be second to jump out. I think this was for the best as I probably would have got nervous the longer I waited. But let me tell you - the second you are on the ledge of that plane all nerves fly out the window (pun intended). The free fall though the air was AWESOME. But - the painful part came after that. My groin was screaming when the parachute went up. But the pain only lasted a few seconds. Frank let me steer us and we did a lot of spins and pointing out things in the distance. The landing was also very smooth. It was a great, thrilling experience. Highly recommended to get photos as well! read more

I was a first time jumper. I added the jump to my bucketlist after a recent divorce. Good call! The business is staffed with beautiful, European voiced, huggers who only have eyes for their jumper. Jumping tandem is an intimate experience and it sure makes it easier when you bounce into your harness on the sculpted equine-like haunches of a gorgeous instructor whispering that he loves you and he's going to save your life. He tucks your hair into your goggles and squeezes your hands from their prayer grasp - leaving you with two thumbs up and goosebumps. They make you feel right at home, and to top it off there is Charlie, a Labradoodle (I"m guessing) who is what I am just going to call the team mascot is TO DIE FOR. As professionals they are not clear on their "requirements" which can be "looked over" upon their own personal opinions. I suppose it's all on who you talk to. Let's start by declaring my ungodly fear of heights. Just being on a roof is terrifying. However, skydiving gave me the most exhilarating, awesome, and intense feeing that I've ever had. While getting suited up, my instructor was very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. He explained everything to me and then went over it a second time to make sure that I knew all the important details. He welcomed questions and answered everyone that I asked. On the plane ride up, the atmosphere in the plane was very laidback and relaxing, which made it easy for me not to freak out. The instructors kept you laughing, which definitely kept my mind off the fact that I was jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. When it got closer to jump time, my instructor went over everything with me again. Then he also asked me questions to make sure that I really understood everything. The biggest thing he did that made me feel very safe was checking all the straps out loud, so I knew that he was doing it. I know that everyone checks the straps, but by doing it out loud it gave me a peace of mind. Words can't even come close to explaining the feeling on the way down. I have done four tandem jumps, I will probably even do a few more tandems or maybe even finally start taking AFF courses. The place has a friendly atmosphere and I felt comfortable around the people that worked there. My tandem instructors were pretty cool as well. Not only do i enjoy the free fall and the ride back down to that big rock known as Earth, i also enjoyed the scenery looking out of the plane on the way up. The videos and stills are of great quality, they didn't disappoint me. If you're thinking about taking that first leap i would definitely recommend this drop zone! Went skydiving here with a few other people and it was a wonderful experience! We called ahead of time and made a reservation. We got there, had to watch a little 5min long video. Fill out some papers and then wait. We waited about 2 hours. We sat under one of the tent canopies and watched the plane fill up with people then go up and come back and repeat many times. But I don't think that it is common to have to wait this long. They are operating out of a trailer and tent right now because their main building was demolished in a tornado. Also there were lots of clouds so the plane stayed up in the air trying to find a good no-cloudy place for the drops so that the skydiver's view of earth wouldn't be impaired. I always felt safe and it was a great experience. Bring a football or something in case you have to wait. It was about $175 or something close to that. read more
