Great footing on the wide grit path with wooden bridges over the creek crossings. Lots of woods and the ever present gurgling of the creek make it peaceful. Just enough away from traffic that you don't hear the cars on US231 until you are close to passing under it. Lots of benches along the trail too. The trail is not a loop, so it's a full mile if you walk back to your car. Besides the trail, there are four playgrounds, a swimming pool, shelters and enough open space to play your own games. Disc Golf, baseball and basketball are options too! Lots of shade in the playground areas to help keep you cool. Best park in the area! Review #976

It was back in the woods near a clear lake. There were paved trails we rode our bikes on to get around. The boat dock was pretty looking out to another lake area. There were old buildings that were well kept on the festival grounds. Very neat! Especially the old train car that is set up as an old restaurant that used to be in service. I would love to come back to the park for the festival and other times throughout the year! I know some festivarians had unfortunate experiences getting into the festival grounds Wednesday and Thursday because of Wednesday's downpour but to me they tried their best to get things up to par as quick as possible and continued everyday throughout the weekend. They also had a small disc golf course set up and a playground that I noticed.

A solid course, and it's free!…read more A 27-hole course. The first 7 or so are in an open field style of layout, the next 11 or so are in the woods, and the final holes are more challenging. Each hole has two options for red = amateur and blue = more challenging. Each of the holes is about a 3 par. This was one of the "easier" courses I've experienced in my 1 year experience of the sport. The holes are much shorter than most others. Doesn't make it any easier though! Note that this is managed by the church. You park behind the church to access the course. Biblical verses are on each of the holes signage.

A large sign at the back offers a map. The first 9 are pretty open, mostly in a field, and great for beginners/warm up. Each hole has two starting spots, helpful if you have kids. The second 9 were so much fun! I think we will start there next time. Definitely in the woods, but not a ton of brush if you go off course. A few shots go along Fall Creek. The final 9 are more advanced, but we didn't make it that far. Each hole and basket is clearly marked and there are maps at the start of each hole to help you direct where to throw. It isn't always immediately obvious where the basket will be.

Years later this is a lovely green space used for frisbee golf, RC planes and walking the dog. However, this is NOT an off leash dog park. Dogs are to be on leash at all times. I was in this park in the fall and it is lovely and since it is off the beaten path there are very few people flocking to the location. The only down side is the lack of public "resources", no water, no washrooms (one port-o-potty by the RC field) and no trash cans.

The city of Indianapolis is on a roll right now, investing…read morefunds into improving the parks around the city, and Washington Park has been one of the targets for a much-needed glow-up. As of August 2025, there is an all-new playground in the center of the park, a splash pad, new picnic shelters, a huge parking lot and a comfort station. This is in addition to the other features that currently exist on the 120 acres of the park: a family recreation center, an outdoor basketball complex, walking trails, an 18-hole disk golf course, a mountain bike course and another smaller, older playground. The new playground at Washington Park is super fun for kids of all ages. There's an area made for kids ages 5-12, with a big play structure that has multiple slides, ropes courses and lots of things to climb. There's also a play area for toddlers, with a mini slide and a pint-sized play structure. There are also musical instruments, a teeter-totter, swings (including accessible swings) and cement creatures like turtles and salamanders you can climb on top of and ride, if you want to! The splash pad at Washington Park is one of only two splash pads in the near east side of Indianapolis, so it is a much-needed feature in this part of Indy. (The only other splash pad is at Wes Montgomery Park.) It has multiple water features and a fun water slide. One of the best things about it is that there is actual shade around the splash pad! Shade is a scarce resource at playgrounds, oftentimes. I've only visited the new playground and splash pad, but I'm impressed with the updates that have been made to Washington Park! I hope to come back and explore more of the park sometime soon.

So, if you want to rent the shelter (with picnic tables and grills), you only have to haul your supplies a short distance. If the town wants to have a celebration, the ceremonies can take place in the gazebo. There are lots of swings and benches for visitors. I also like there is a fenced playground for small kids, and many pieces of equipment for the bigger kids to run around and try out. For kids who may be intimidated by bigger kids dominating a single piece, there are so many other ones to try until the other kids leave. And for kids who get bored easily, having a variety of new tower/slides and old school pieces gives them lots to check out too. In addition to the playground, there are basketball courts, a tennis court, a volleyball court, a soccer field, and a disc golf course. Shade trees, though not big, are all around too. I have been here many times throughout the years, especially on elementary school trips. Great place to take the children to. Huge number of trails to take. Lots to see and lots to do. If you like disc golf, welcome to paradise. They've got six full courses of it all round the park! They also have the biggest playground I've ever seen, four baseball diamonds, a tennis court (big, but in need of upkeep), and a monster living in the lake. (All right, I'm just KIDDING about that last one!) Boat rental used to be available on the lake, but I think they've done away with it over the years. You also have six (?) pavilions available for rental. By the way, admission is $5 per vehicle. The park seems to have been hit by the Emerald Ash Tree Borer back in 2013-14, but they have since removed the dead trees. I think that the park decided to use the area once used by the ash trees as a space to extend the disc golf into, as some courses go deep into the forest. I just happened to come on the 23rd of October when I took the pictures. MY MAN, THE TREES WERE COLORFUL THEN!

It's not bad, the paved trail is kinda tore up in some spots but other than that it's cool…read more The parking lot is set back a ways so if you're coming for the first time don't stop at the maintenance building on the left and park. Keep going down the hill and follow the road. OR you can turn right and hit up the dog run they have. I checked out the dog run from a distance, it looks fine. nothing too major. Just an open area where your pup can be unleashed. By the main lot there's a public restroom and a small convenience center too. There's a softball field, B-Ball court and a massive playground nearby too. I liked the side trails, but they're not really that long and they stay pretty close to the main lake loop and run into the Frisbee Golf trails quite often. There are a few benches along the main and side trails where you can make a sandwich or just sit and relax for a bit. Benches are old and worn, little mossy and lichen covered, other than that they're sturdy & solid. Lemon Lake itself is pretty nice, it has Bass, but it's catch and release only. There are also boat rentals (paddle boat and row boat) by the head of the main loop. If you like fishing, there is a big fishing pier on the south east part of the lake that's large enough for 10+ people (comfortably). There are also a few benches right along the lakeside as well. We ended up doing 2 trips along the main loop and several of the smaller side trails. I liked the place and will probably come back here again when the weather warms up again.

The Worman's were civic minded contributors to the town and schools of Zionsville back when my kids were in school. It is meaningful that their farm was converted for park use. The park has a number of unique features. Most notable are the bike trails including mountain bike trails. The trails run from easy paved to challenging rock covered. Trails are well marked. A nice playground was built with climbing structures, slides, swings and more. Soft matting is under the structures in case the kids fall. Benches and covered pavilions with picnic tables are nearby so parents and kids can be shaded. I saw a bbq by one of the pavilions. A trail south features a disc "golf" course that winds through trees and other obstacles. The trails run is lovely to follow with mature trees and occasional wild flowers. North of the playground is a picturesque fishing pond. Decks overlook the pond. Fishing is catch and release only. The park borders the Big 4 Rail Trail to the northeast. The trails are suitable for walking, running or biking. We found parking near the playground with accessible space nearby. Bike parking was also available. Restroom facilities appeared to be limited to portable potties. I saw a water fountain near the playground. It took me about an hour to walk the entire paved trail and take photos. I recommend bringing water, bug spray and sunscreen. Worth a visit, especially for people that like to mountain bike.
