Crown Point's biggest park. Go any farther south and you're in Cedar Lake. The perfect place for a nature hike when in the area. I have been here many times throughout the years, especially on elementary school trips. Great place to take the children to. Huge number of trails to take. Lots to see and lots to do. If you like disc golf, welcome to paradise. They've got six full courses of it all round the park! They also have the biggest playground I've ever seen, four baseball diamonds, a tennis court (big, but in need of upkeep), and a monster living in the lake. (All right, I'm just KIDDING about that last one!) Boat rental used to be available on the lake, but I think they've done away with it over the years. You also have six (?) pavilions available for rental. By the way, admission is $5 per vehicle. The park seems to have been hit by the Emerald Ash Tree Borer back in 2013-14, but they have since removed the dead trees. I think that the park decided to use the area once used by the ash trees as a space to extend the disc golf into, as some courses go deep into the forest. It's not bad, the paved trail is kinda tore up in some spots but other than that it's cool. The parking lot is set back a ways so if you're coming for the first time don't stop at the maintenance building on the left and park. Keep going down the hill and follow the road. OR you can turn right and hit up the dog run they have. I checked out the dog run from a distance, it looks fine. nothing too major. Just an open area where your pup can be unleashed. By the main lot there's a public restroom and a small convenience center too. There's a softball field, B-Ball court and a massive playground nearby too. I liked the side trails, but they're not really that long and they stay pretty close to the main lake loop and run into the Frisbee Golf trails quite often. There are a few benches along the main and side trails where you can make a sandwich or just sit and relax for a bit. Benches are old and worn, little mossy and lichen covered, other than that they're sturdy & solid. Lemon Lake itself is pretty nice, it has Bass, but it's catch and release only. There are also boat rentals (paddle boat and row boat) by the head of the main loop. If you like fishing, there is a big fishing pier on the south east part of the lake that's large enough for 10+ people (comfortably). There are also a few benches right along the lakeside as well. We ended up doing 2 trips along the main loop and several of the smaller side trails. I liked the place and will probably come back here again when the weather warms up again. read more

The following is a summary of some of the things I noticed during a recent visit. Most, if not all of the equipment has rust on it. The solution, the rust has been painted over. A children's slide is cracked which can cause severe injury if used by a child. The volleyball court is unusable due to the amount of weeds growing in the sandbox. The paved walking trail has overgrown weeds and branches. Making things even more frustrating, is the $5.00 dollar fee each time if you enter by vehicle. By contrast, I visited a Michigan Park yesterday. The entry fee for the season is $17.00 for none-residents. Get it together Lake County Government officials! If this is the best you can do, shame on you! read more

Update your tetanus shots before visiting the playground!! Like a few pictures that others have posted, ALL of the equipment is rusty, splintered, cracked, and/or has jagged edges! This is the worst playground I have ever visited with my young children (ages 2 & 5)! I was afraid to let them climb around on too much as they were wearing shorts. It doesn't look like anyone has cared for the PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT, the playground BENCHES, the picnic tables, the roads, the parking lots, the tennis court, or quite frankly anything in several decades. I see so much potential in that place, I'm sure it was once safe for kids. Until I hear of serous changes/updates, we will not be returning to the playground. - what a shame since we just moved nearby If anyone knows how to donate funds for playground and bench repairs, please share! read more

Awesome place for kids to play and dogs to run around and play disc golf. Lots of hiking trails. Summer manicured some are not. Fishing is fun. read more

Lemon Lake had been on my to-do list of disc golf courses for many years. Featuring five 18-hole courses and a pro shop, anyone keen on the sport should give this place a look. I looked at the maps before arriving and had an idea of what to expect, but it wasn't until we arrived that I decided which course we'd play. The white course seemed more novice level, red and blue in between, and the gold and silver were forested courses, meaning tougher shots. That said, we played the blue course as I didn't want to go brush diving for my 9yr old sons errant shots. The blue course is 90% wide open with long fairways. Most holes feature tree's but obstacles are minimal until the last three holes, which are short, forested fairways. All in all I'd say this was a good course to start with. The folks at the pro shop were very helpful as well. I asked a couple of basic questions and was surprised with the feedback and help they were willing to give. We'll definitely be back to give the other four courses a whirl. Cheers! read more

I went cross-country skiing here in the dead of a Chicago winter for a mere $5 rental fee. It was a nice forest preserve. I peed my pants watching my friend Emily fall...and try not to fall. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard. A few tears were shed as well. Endorphins were released in the February cold. Mission accomplished. read more

My friend Tracy was on a quest to embrace the elements and perhaps bring some joy to these February dooms days. Being in Chicago, it is easy to just to hunch over with defeat and give the snow it's glory. Well we headed to Lemon Lake Park and did some cross country skiiing where we took on the snow and showed it who is boss. Once you got away from the recreation area and into the wooded area, it was totally worth it. The trails start out easy and get a bit more difficult as you venture out. Pros close to the city website is easy to navigate for winter activity fun easy for beginners cheap $5.00 Rental for skiis and boots clean public restroom someone will fall, so laughs are a guarantee close to Three Floyd's Brewery in Munster for reward beers Cons its in indiana ( just pretend you are in vermont) read more

Lemon Lake is beautiful. Clean and we'll maintained park, play areas, picnic areas and facilities. A great place to take the family.

This once nicely maintained park is now completely run down. The actual play equipment for kids is broken and crap-see photos.. Tennis courts are a mess. Some of the pavilions are graffitied and have major cracked foundations. But I guess if you're just going for frisbee golf, it's perfect because this is the only thing that the park seems to care about. read more

One of the best disc golf courses in the state! Lemon lake is a great perk with plenty of trails, shelters, fishing spots and facilities to make any outing great! The disc golf courses are the shining star though. Each course has its own unique style from the others. One may be water heavy while another is long, hidden shots. The pro shop on site has everything you could ever want or need for your rounds. Jay and Deb as well as the club take wonderful care of the course and the tournaments are top notch. If you are a disc golfer anywhere nearby, you must play here! read more

This Park has way more to offer than just Frisbee Golf and I've only used it for fishing and Frolf. I went out with my Nephew and Niece fishing a few times here and it was a blast all round. As for Frisbee Golf there is a reason the 2010 and now the 2013 PDGA Worlds Professional Disc Golf Tournament is being held here. Amazing courses and a very well kept park!!! read more

This isn't Colorado, but it really is a nice park to cross country ski at for $5.00 how could you go wrong and that includes skies boots and poles for 2 hours. There was lots of snow and is great for beginners. i will go again. read more
