If you have a large group--honestly, even 10+ people--I would think twice before choosing Racca's…read more We recently brought a hockey team of approximately 60 with a reservation made well in advance, and despite being extremely patient, our experience involved 1 1/2-2 hour waits for food, missing meals and sides, incorrect bills, another 30-45 minute wait just to pay, and then being told WE were "impatient."
To start with the positive, everything was beautifully set up when we arrived. We intentionally had people order as they arrived rather than all at once because we knew 60 people was a lot and wanted to make things easier on the staff.
Unfortunately, several soups and salads were forgotten, as well as two complete meals. By the time everything was sorted out, most of the group had finished eating.
After everyone finished, we waited another 30-45 minutes for checks. The kids had been sitting there for hours, so we let them leave while the adults stayed to pay. When my bill finally arrived, it included a beer I had not ordered. When I politely asked for it to be removed, I was told our group had been "very impatient" and that nothing could be changed because some of the kids had left. I pointed out that I was quite certain none of our CHILDREN had ordered the beer. After asking again, another waitress eventually corrected it.
This felt like a management/staffing failure. A reservation for 60 people is not a surprise. Management knew we were coming and apparently had another large group that evening as well. If one server was expected to manage our group largely on her own, she should never have been put in that position.
We also repeatedly saw a very young child, approximately 5-6 years old, going completely through the doors into the kitchen/prep area and later coming back out. We obviously couldn't see what was happening once the doors closed, but it was concerning to see a small child repeatedly entering an active restaurant kitchen.
Since then, our son has been talking about the experience, and we've heard from several other people who have had similar issues with larger groups.
We expected a wait with 60 people. We did NOT expect a 2+ hour ordeal, forgotten food, incorrect bills, a lengthy wait just to pay, and then to be blamed for being "impatient."
For a team dinner, birthday party, family gathering, or really any group of 10+, I would choose somewhere else.
