Great soups and chili's. Really great. Staff is friendly and quick. Hours are sparse. Sit at the bar to eat.

There's also plenty of parking in the area. Easy to get to. I sat at the bar; the bartender was very friendly and somewhat chatty. It wasn't particularly busy for the lunch crowd on a Saturday afternoon, but there was a good selection of people at the bar and in various booths and at tables. The vibe of the space is really good. I started off with a bowl of their soup, which was a Philly Cheesesteak Soup and it was excellent. Excellent! I need to figure out how to make it when I'm not out and about. Great beer selection. It's written on a chalk board near the bar, be sure to check out the latest. I had the Saddle Bronc by nearby Black Tooth Brewing. For lunch I had their Chicken BLT salad. Everything was fresh and the portion size was really good. Nice mix of chicken with the sidearms; highly recommended. Food was brought to the bar quickly. Overall a very good experience and I look forward to stopping in again the next time I'm in town!

They gyro meat is apparently made in-house and is beef based, so I was intrigued. The flavor was very good, but there was too little of it. 3 slices seems a little lean, making it more of a Greek salad with some meat in a pita. Probably should have not gotten a side salad instead of fries. Lots of roughage.

The cocktails were nice but not spectacular. The service was spectacular! The food was good. The fries were fresh but a little too greasy. The steak was a hero at $60 is well worth the money! At first impression, the menu offered a wide variety of selections that I was pretty excited about. Unfortunately, the salad that I wanted was unavailable that evening. My server had to come back to the table and tell me that they had run out of the necessary ingredients. That's always frustrating. I wasn't super hungry, so I opted for an appetizer for my meal. The Cran-Jack meatballs were tasty and the accompanying toast offered a nice contrast. While I am normally a lover of onion rings, the ones on my plate left something to be desired. They tasted bitter and I only ate one. The service was incredibly slow. I sat in my seat for well over 10 minutes playing on my phone waiting for the waitress to come check on me so I could close out my tab. I finally resorted to flagging down a food runner from the kitchen. I'd like to go back and have an actual meal, perhaps with my husband or a good friend, despite a less than stellar first impression.

Preface: I'm a very eccentric individual, and I enjoy simple things in life. My review will be…read morebased mostly on that fact alone. However, other notable details relate to the business side of things rather than pleasure. As a traveler, I have encountered many hotels of different style and experience. Lots that are uniform in pattern, lots that boast comfort but beds feel like Tiggers tail instead, most with the similar appeal of get in, get out. Today I've checked into the Hotel Labonte. I'm literally passing though here on my way home, so I dont need lavish things or experience. Prior to check in, I was overwhelmed by the typical motel/hotel options. Some that were too expensive for just a few hours of sleep, most I've decided to never do business with again, and some with OKAY reviews. What drew me to this hotel was the antiquated appeal. This place has history. I love history. With just a few reviews to go off of, I wasn't super sold. So I did some research on the hotel. Found some pictures. My interest; peaked. I decided to book. It's very quiet, maybe because it's still early, but I like that. The rooms are locked with actual keys, no key card that gets deactivated by your phone!! The overall appeal of the hotel is great, the cleanliness is impressive. But the selling point are the rooms. Each is different, I saw 3, my own included. The decor, the bedding, the layout, i find it very comforting. The rooms are VERY clean. I'm a clean freak and for once, I am not grossed out or picky about how the room was cleaned. The bathroom in my room is small. Basically like a guest bathroom, but with a tub. However, despite the size, I dont feel overwhelmed or claustrophobic. Because this place is so old, an initial concern of mine was water pressure. Nothing is more disappointing to me than longing for a hot shower and finding out the water is a sad trickle. To my shock, the water pressure is perfect! The best shower I've taken outside of my own at home. The rooms include: a TV, a microwave, a wardrobe, nightstand, and of course the bed. Now let's speak of the bed: definitely a surprise!!!! It's so soft and comfortable, I will have no issue falling asleep FAST. I've stayed in hotels with more popularity, and their beds do not compare. Ultimately, I am THRILLED with my stay. This hotel has a wonderful "homey" feel, and I LOVE it. To be completely honest, I am sad I'm not staying for more than a day. I would like to experience more so I can review but from what I have experienced, I cant help but rave about this place! 10/10, would HIGHLY recommend.
