She attacked with ruthless --yet gentle--precision each and every snaggley cuticle and stray skin-curl. While there is no helping how chonky my fingers are, she made the nails and cuticles as smooth and soft as a puppy's belly. Total no-frills. Gel removal and replacement. $26 bucks. Just the best. A hidden gem in Southie where they do great work without price gouging. They always have the colors I want, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. They are always prompt when I call and make an appointment and even do their best to squeeze people in without one. I typically get gel manicures, but have recently done acrylic with gel for a little bit longer wear. Gel is always done well, and the acrylics last almost 3 full weeks without lifting! (I do use cuticle oil and keep my hands moisturized.) They always crush the shape, and take my input/direction well. I never feel pressured to keep my nails too long etc. I will miss this place when I move. read more

She then grabbed my hand and drilled a line through multiple nails. Not only was this a negative encounter, but it was unsafe. I got my nails done here on Monday 2/20/2023 and my nails already cracked by Wednesday 2/22/2023. I came back and asked her to fix it and she said no come back in a few days. The crack was obvious and I got dip nails. It's not hard for her to fix it. I took an Uber here and wasted money and also had to take a Uber back. This is the first time I went to this salon and I would not recommend it to anyone. She wasted my time when all she could've done was redid the nails and I was willing to pay extra money. Not to mention one fell off in the middle of the service and when I expressed my concerns I was disregarded. I should have trusted my gut. I was extremely upset and so I called to ask for a refund. Because I don't live close enough for it to be worth getting them done again, I just wanted a refund and for it to be over with. I walked in on a Friday afternoon and there was only 1 person in the chair. The gentleman (I didn't get his name) did an amazing job on my mani-pedi!!!! He took his time when he scrubbed, filed, applied lotion and painted my nails. He also gave me a leg massage with a hot stone as well as a heel treatment! Both my feet and hands look amazing!!!! I gave this salon a higher rating in the past when Henry did my gel mani, but since I've been getting dip I don't see Henry anymore. Recently the nail tech, Nancy who seems to be the only one who does dip nails (aside from the owner) decided to tell me that she's not going to be doing my nails anymore. I told her so you're not doing my nails anymore because I tell you how I want them done? She replied yes, you tell me you don't want them thick you don't want this or that. Ummmm hello, that's how this works! She said this after I told her she missed a spot and I kept looking at my nails because she didn't drill them down smoothly. It was bumpy so was I suppose to walk around with nails like that? Excuse me for speaking up. Even before this happened I realized that Nancy does not take criticism well at all. Before I told her how I want my nails to be in the previous sessions, I would be extremely careful how I said it so she's not upset with me because I have noticed in the past she didn't like to hear any criticism. I am not going to walk out of the salon with nails I am not satisfied with so yes of course I'm going to tell you how I want them done. I am paying for this service. Speaking of service, overall their customer service is not great. I felt uncomfortable the way they mistreated customers while I was there. I have been a regular here since moving to Dorchester in October, but have decided to stop coming. The salon is small and clean, definitely not glamorous by any means, but the cheapest gel in the area made it worth it. I brought my friend a few weeks ago and they butchered her manicure, with her swearing to never go back. I went back one more time after her, and was rushed becuase they clearly wanted to pay more attention to a customer who came in with fancy nails and wanted them redone (more $!). I've never been shoved through a salon so quickly, with the woman doing my nails so carelessly and quick it was a miracle she didn't actually hurt me considering she was barely looking. Today I unexpectedly stumbled upon the best and most thorough pedicure that I had ever had in the area and at this price point ($22.) I live in another Boston neighborhood, but decided to venture into Southie because I have yet to find a nail salon in my neighborhood that I love. After conducting a little research right here on Yelp, I settled on Sky Nails. I called ahead and had a pleasant exchange with the person who picked up. He answered my questions and said that I could come in whenever was convenient for me. When I arrived at Sky Nails I was immediately and warmly greeted. I was also happy to find that the salon is clean, neat, and organized. The gentleman that I had spoken to on the phone invited me to choose a color and have a seat in the pedicure chair. He waited ever so patiently as I took forever to choose a color. I am definitely the most indecisive person alive! When I sat down he asked me my name and introduced himself as Kevin. He then proceeded to thoroughly and carefully take care of my feet. He was definitely taking his time to do a good job. He occasionally asked me if I was happy with the pedicure so far and if he could do anything else to make the experience more relaxing. The highlight of the whole pedicure was definitely the leg massage! It is by far the best and longest I have had. Kevin did not come off as creepy in any way. He was very professional and kind. Though I had only intended to get a pedicure, I decided to splurge on a manicure as well. The hand massage was great. Kevin also took his time to meticulously and completely paint each nail. Though this seems like it should be a given, sadly at most nail salons it is not! They often rush so that they can get to the next customer. It is obvious that the technicians at Sky Nails take their time to do the best job possible in order to make their customers happy. The cost of the mani/pedi combo is $30. While I know there are at least a dozen nail salons in my area that will do the job for $25, it is definitely worth it to spend the extra five bucks. Kevin came over to check on me after I had been sitting under the drier for a while. He carefully checked that each nail was dry and I was on my way. Sky nails is my new go to nail salon. I've been going down the street to Gaelic for years due to their super low prices. Sky nails has similar affordable pricing with a more relaxing, professional, and clean environment. Today was my first time at sky nails and I'll definitely return soon! The facility itself was great. Everything appeared clean and well kept. All of the equipment still appeared new and functioning. They had a great selection of colors which were neatly displayed on the wall, color coordinated by brand. I got a pedicure today, which was $22. The pedicure lasted a while, between 20-30 minutes! I'm so used to places rushing through my pedicure to get to the next client, it was so nice to actually be able to relax and enjoy it this time. They even use hot stones and oil during the pedicure, such a deal for only $22! The woman doing my nails took her time and thoroughly painted each nail and made sure to get every stray piece of paint off my skin. I will definitely be back for my next mani/pedi. read more
