I LOVE THIS PLACE! I've been to many places, but not many gives you that classy-beachy-casual vibe like this place does. Sky deck is great for many reasons, but mainly it's the energy from the people that come here - all ages, all shapes and sizes, all colors, and even the fur babies come to hang out! Different bars and food places everywhere, you don't come here to be sad, you come here to have a good time and enjoy the amazing food, drinks, and energy all around you. Cool concept with the different restaurants and breweries. Went on a Saturday afternoon. The brewers deck was decently busy, but it was pretty quiet inside. We sat there, so we could all order from different places. Love that you can order from different places, but can make it one charge on your phone. My husband and I got Glass Box and Kiin, but weren't overly impressed with either. Our friends' pizza from Ambrogio looked ok. We liked the beer and kombucha options, but none of the bartenders seemed happy to be there and kept just wandering away. I would try it again of someone else wanted to go, but it just didn't convince me that I would want to drive up from central SD to go again. read more

The convenience of walking to eat whatever you want all im the same location, or in our case, we walked up to the top to have drinks. Been here a few times and forgot to leave a review! A great place to see and be seen. Tons of options to eat and drink. Similar to the Liberty Station or Anaheim Packing District. They Sky Deck is the newest addition to Del Mar Highlands shopping center...i've historically called it "ralphs shopping center b/c that was really the main idea of the center before. Now it is expanded, it is grand and has MANY reasons to visit. The sky deck being the main focus. This is an upscale "food hall" beautiful fire pit outside fabulous brewery upstairs. multiple restaurants of different them inside. Cocktail bar in the center of it all... all are pricey some are nicer than others... great place to see friends and gather as a group. Sky Deck is a beautifully decorated foodie's dream come true collection of restaurants. Located on the upper deck of the Del Mar Highlands Town Center, it is the home of an assortment of some fine-dining restaurants, breweries, and tap bars. My daughter and I have only tried one of the restaurants, Glass Box, and were beyond impressed with the premium quality of sushi offered at this establishment. We really can't wait to check out all of the other restaurants here. If you're visiting San Diego, you have to visit this place! You are sure to be impressed! Each restaurant has its designated tables for dining, but there are also common areas where you could sit and eat if you go with a group of friends or family and can't decide on a restaurant. Some say it has a Barcelona-Style restaurant vibe but I agree with the architect who created it with a maritime industrial design, this you see in the details rather than looking at the place as a whole. Urbana - Mexican gastronomy Family and I sat at Understory, ordered most of our food from Glass House and Pad see ew from Kiin! All of what we ordered was absolutely delicious and amazing. The space is quite small, well most space around the Sky Deck is small although, regardless of what restaurant or area you're at its very comfortable. This place is really nice. There's definitely a lot of options as far as food goes. One of the things I love most is the fact that for a small surcharge you can sit in the wine bar area or upper outside area bar and then you can order food from any of the food locations within Skydeck to be brought to that section. Those are the only two spots you can do that from. It's definitely convenient if you are having a small get together and each of you doesn't want to order from the same place. The reason for the surcharge is because you're not per say sitting At that particular restaurant your ordering from. But, also it has to be brought to you. So I would just keep that in mind if you're deciding to go that route. FYI! if you sit at the wine bar to have your order brought in from another area of skydeck you are required to purchase alcohol. Everyone that works at this place seems to be nice. The bartender still kept coming over to check on us even though I only ordered one drink. Everything was good. All the servers were very on top of everything. Place is very clean. I would say it's a little bit pricey, but that's with anything else, and you are paying as well for experience. This is a very nice occasional spot to come to, if you're looking for a get together or a dinner party. And then when you go outside, there's other spots to check out, so it's definitely a very efficient location. Parking shouldnt be an issue theirs plenty of parking. But at times just like everywhere else if it's busy may have to circle a few times. What in the world has happened to Sky Deck? When they first opened, it was a bustling exciting place with interesting restaurants. I went there last night with a friend and there was hardly a soul around at 6 PM. One couple was eating dinner at the Italian restaurant, nobody was in the Mexican restaurant. The bar was empty. Two restaurants have gone out of business. My friend and I went to use the restroom and every toilet was out of order, there was toilet paper all over the floor, it was disgusting. Is anyone keeping this place up? What a disappointment. It was supposed to be a great meeting place, and it turned into a mishmash of nothingness. I love in Carmel Valley. I want it to succeed. First timer here and wow this place is so cool!! I love little food halls like this where there's literally something for everyone. The concept of being able to sit anywhere and order food from multiple places or have a more intimate time and pick one of the many restaurants in here and actually eat there. The brewers deck up top was very relaxing. They even have QR codes you can scan and literally order from any food place and have it brought to you. I've been here a few times now (during the week) and have really loved this place. I've tried understory, the Italian spot, the Mediterranean spot, and Urbana. I think so far my favorite is Urbana. The food was so good and the drinks were amazing! The service is also really good considering how busy this place can get. We had a party of 9 come in yesterday and he didn't miss a single thing and was checking up on us consistently. Met some friends here for a casual meal. It's kind of like a fancy food court with beer garden patio. Food selection isn't too shabby either. The collection of eateries is not yet complete but what they do have open is no doubt a very nice start. As food halls go, this is more like a space with multiple establishments next to each other. Each restaurant/bar is within its own space (separated by barriers). This means if you're with a group of friends, you cannot all opt to get food from different restaurants and then meet up to eat together. There is no communal dining area/tables. You will have to decide to dine at the same business if you want to sit and eat together. Since there aren't any walls separating any of the businesses, noise level is very high. Went to Sky Deck yesterday with friends for the first time and we had such an amazing experience! There were so many restaurants and bars to choose from. You can sit at any of the restaurants to sit & eat or sit at Understory or the bar upstairs to order from any of the restaurants through your phone. We choose to sit at Understory so we could all order something different and grab a cocktail. I got the Van Dam's Vanga which was similar to a spicy margarita from Understory and ordered sushi from Glass box, both were amazing! The food came so quickly & straight our table after ordering through our phones. Our server at Understory was great and even provided us with some drink recommendations as they have so many fun craft cocktails to choose from. Every few weeks I end up over at the Sky Deck or visiting a neighboring business within Del Mar Highlands Town Center. WIth so much packed into one area parking can be a little stressful, but it's free! I love the Sky Deck concept. It has the energy of a food hall with lots of vendors and cuisines to choose from, but with more of the atmosphere of a restaurant. You'll find families who just finished shopping at Geppetto's around the corner and couples dressed up for date night- no one looks out of place. It does seem to be more catered towards adults, but maybe that's just my perspective since usually a cocktail from Understory is part of my evening. I haven't had a bad meal or a bad drink anywhere I've visited so far. Based on my friend's reviews of the places I haven't tried in Sky Deck, I'm optimistic that the trend will continue with each fantastic visit. They have just about any cuisine you can crave and everything from beer to color changing cocktails. There is so much to explore that you have to keep coming back for more. Glassbox is next on my list! At some of the bars you can order food from the nearby restaurants. If you want to be outside several spots have outdoor seating and the entrance has a large deck which is great for gathering your group or just continuing the conversation after dinner is done. Lots of seating with good views into Del Mar Highlands. One unique feature is that we wanted to eat some snacks, we noticed a QR Code on the table so quickly cranked up the website to get access to the food from the restaurants in Del Mar Highlands Town Center, we ordered the food surprisingly it got delivered in no time and felt like the food was from brewery. Keep in mind that this is NOT a food court where a group can get individual takeout and join at a table. It's set up to eat at the individual restaurants. Can get very busy at typical meal times. Upstairs is the Brewer's Deck which has three breweries, two beer focused and one for hard kombucha. The Brewer's deck has a mechanism to have take out delivered to your table or barstool from a few of the Skydeck restaurants. The Brewer's deck is open to the west with great views of the coastal mesa. A great place to watch sports or just chill. Parking is best on the multi-level parking lot with entry on Townsend Drive. We went here to meet up with my Son's friends and while waiting for them I looked around and took pictures. It looked like a Food court, but more on the Fancier side, I spotted a few good places to dine in for us next time we come back for a family dinner. While waiting for my son's Friends to arrive we chose to get a small Snack and my son chose to eat at "PARFEIT PARIS " we ordered 2 STRAWBERRY BANANA CREPES and a CHOCOLATE PUDDING. CREPES were okay . And for PUDDING I dont usualy eat Pudding but the CHOCOLATE I saw in it convinced me to try it, I'm glad I did 'coz it tasted good, it has a balanced sweetness on it, and the lady serving us warmed it up and it tasted even better when it was warm. What a cool spot this is! Came here for girls night on a Friday and had a lot of fun. What a cool concept! There are many different places to eat and a nice bar right in the middle. We sat at Understory and had fantastic drinks- like really good drinks. We were also able to order from the various restaurants while sitting at Understory (heck yeah), and they delivered to our table. Our party ordered from Glass Box, Kiin Thai, and Marufuku Ramen. Everyone really enjoyed their food and it was so nice to be able to diversify our meal so easily. I will go into detail about the food on their respective pages. In short, try them out. My first visit to Sky Deck and I must say I was impressed. I was on my way to Del Mar and decided on Marufuku inside Sky Deck for lunch. Sky Deck is a cool place across from One Paseo, another cool place in this area. They have a big blue chair outside below, just Begging for social media snaps. Upstairs, the Sky Deck has what I can only describe as a nautical themed ceiling. Whales made out of branches swim overhead. Even a tiny fishing boat adorns the ceiling entrance. Taking this artsy ceiling scene as a whole, I realized that it's meant to make you feel like you're underwater. Mind blown! There are several fire pits and lounge chairs surrounding the collection of restaurants here, all adding to that cool vibe I mentioned earlier. Inside, Sky Deck literally has a collection of cuisines from around the world. You can have a taste of Japanese, Italian and Mediterranean. They even have a small cafe selling macarons. And if that wasn't impressive enough, they have a Brewers Deck, perfect for catching evening vibes sipping some suds. I hope to come back soon to imbibe on said deck my next visit. read more

I am moving back to San Diego and several friends told me about this new gathering place with several unique restaurants and the most amazing bathrooms you would see around. I went 3 times this past week and tried the ramen place, the bar of the pretty cocktails, the beer garden, the Thai place and the pastries and coffee. Very good impression of all the food ai had (especially the ramen) as well as of the ambience and decor. Overpriced and a bit of a hype. It is a trendy place but a bit lacking in substance. Came here one night to check it out since it's the new hip place in town to hangout. The high ceiling and ocean themed decor is pretty cool. I do really like the whale and rope centerpiece at the entrance. There's a handful of restaurants inside the building so plenty of selection. Ultimately, people come here for the ambience and not so much for the food. The food is pricey and quite average. The upstairs beer garden with outside patio is very cool and is definitely a good hangout. Overall pros and cons. Nice place for a date but have low expectations on the food. read more

Nice outdoor seating on a sunny day. Been here one more time and ate at one of the restaurants on the main floor. The restaurants here are classy. The restaurant we ate in, Craft House, was good.
