We visited Skinny's for the first time and will definitely return. You place your order as you enter the restaurant and then wait around the corner for your name to be called. We found a table and the guys went next door to get some beers at the bar. (I think it's a different business but they are connected.) Our food was served quickly and we dug in. I had the three rib dinner with their broccoli cole slaw and sidewinder potatoes (think curly wedges). I appreciated the option to have a smaller order of ribs but I still ended up with leftovers! My group also enjoyed their options (pulled pork sandwich, 3 meat platter, potato salad). There were 3 sauces - sweet, tangy, and spicy. I loved all of them! The service was super nice! They were hustling! We are inside because it was a HOT day but I look forward to sitting on the patio for our next visit. read more

We were in town for a wedding and our family members who are local recommended Skinny's. Our uncle went Friday and loved it so much, he asked us to go with him on Saturday. We split two lbs of pork, brussel sprouts, and sidewinder potatoes. The portion sizes were huge and we had enough to take home for leftovers. The pulled pork was very flavorful and the sides were great. The only negative was the iced tea. The taste was so bad, I poured it out. Recently tried Skinny's when down in Muscatine and the food was scrumptious. I had the pastrami and a buddy of mine had the armour'd sandwich. I was all set for a brisket sandwich. They were OUT! It's 4:00 pm on a Saturday. I asked if they were making more. The guy said no it's our last day. I asked forever. He said no. Nothing, next to food served cold, makes me more mad than to be told your out of something on a small menu. Ihad the pork nachos. Good chips, and I'm sure the meat was hot at one point, but the seating area was so cold it was never hot to eat. This is a yearly trip for me to Muscatine, and this will be my last visit to skinny bbq. Also it's not cheap. read more

I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was awesome and lots of pulled pork on the buns! Flavor is great even without sauce. Wife had three ribs which were tender and flavorful. Both had the cream corn for a side, very good. I wanted to try the armadillo eggs but they were already sold out! A must try! Skinny's is a counter service but still great selection of food and delicious. Service is fast, but expect a line to order food. Not much ambiance, be sure to dine on the outdoor patio to see the Mississippi River. I ordered a beer from Proof Social right next door and the wife had a fountain drink from Skinny's. I would recommend skinny's, and on Friday night there's live entertainment, so expect larger crowds. read more

Totally worth a drive for some of the best barbecue in the Mississippi valley. Located toward the back of a historic building, there is a surprising amount of seating inside along with a patio overlooking the river that would be great during the summer. We went with a large group and was impressed with the quick and friendly service as you wait at the counter for your order. Everyone loved their food with the particular standouts being the armadillo eggs, brisket, ribs, and the Carolina gold barbecue sauce. The chocolate cake is pretty darn good too. read more

I had never been here before but will definitely be coming back again. I had tried the #2 Meat Combo plate of beef brisket and pork and two (2) sides. For the sides I had ordered their homemade Mac & Cheese and potato salad. The portions of the shredded pork and brisket were really huge. The pork was a bit dry but with their mustard based and sweet BBQ sauce you could add some moisture to it and it was just fine. The brisket was very tender but it was a bit cold and had a fatty ring on one side but the smoky favor was through out and the overall the meal was really pretty delicious and for $14 it was well worth it and as mentioned the portions were large enough that I had enough left overs for a snack later that evening. My only complaint is that they were already out of warm cornbread when we went for lunch. I've rarely seen my husband devour a meal like he did this one. Can't go wrong here. The food was very tasty and the meat was super tender. Melt in your mouth tender. We were visiting the area for the day and stopped in. 10/10 will drive here 1 1/2 hours round trip routinely vs eating mediocre QC BBQ. I got 9 different menu items (tried every sauce but one) and they were all quality.
