Ask the Community - SkinMD

Do they have dysport ? & do they charge dysport/Botox by the unit or by the area?

I had Dysport and it is by the unit. I'm not sure if they use Botox. I personally think Dysport is better. It lasts longer than Botox.

How old do we need to be to get coolsculpting?

Likely 16+ (with parental consent) or 18+ on your own. Whether or not they'll actually perform it has to do with an assessment made by the staff and if there's actually enough "fat" to suction into the cryo device to be effective.

I've been coming to Skin Spa for a while now. A friend recommended them after she went here before…read moreher wedding. I saw a deal for them on Gilt so figured, why not try them out. I got a facial and massage my first time there and have been hooked ever since. I get regular hydrafacials here and started laser hair removal too. The hydrafacials have really transformed my skin. I love them and always leave there glowing. The laser treatments have been going well so far - I wouldn't call them fun or relaxing by any means but they're effective! The staff here has always been super lovely. My usually aesthetician moved this year so I started going to new people (I can't remember their names) but they're also lovely. I'll also note that spa treatments are not cheap but skin spa ALWAYS has a deal going on so you can get good discounts and once you purchase a service, it doesn't expire. I love them.

I used the med spa part of this business. While the service itself is okay, there is no consistency…read morebetween how the procedure is done. Everyone is doing it differently, some charge you for a calming mask, some give it as a compliment to the service. I found it very confusing and frustrating. The worst is their behavior around tipping for med spa services. They blatantly and aggressively tried to get me to tip for those, literally trying to shame into paying it by loudly requesting a tip in front of everyone at the front desk, in addition to a big tablet with a tip suggestion (of 20,25 etc % expectation clearly listed) shoved in my face. This is a shady practice trying to indicate to a patient that this kind of tip is expected on a med spa procedure. Industry norms within healthcare generally favor transparent, all-inclusive pricing rather than gratuity-based compensation. This principle typically applies to services provided within medical spas, regardless of whether a specific treatment is performed by a medical provider or an esthetician. Because the service is offered under the medical spa's clinical umbrella and within a healthcare-related environment, patients reasonably expect the advertised price to reflect the full cost of care. Soliciting tips in this setting can create confusion regarding pricing, blur professional boundaries, and undermine the distinction between healthcare services and traditional hospitality services. The business acknowledges med spa separation from their day spa services. You receive multiple emails, forms to sign, etc. indicating a treatment that is treated as a procedure done under medical setting. It should be left to a patient discretion to provide a token of gratuity if they decide to do so, but in the med spa setting, there should not be expectation of the same tipping practice as for the traditional day spa services. I was very taken aback by these practices. This behavior was not present at other branches, but unfortunately those have been closed or will be closed.

This place has absolutely gone downhill! I started coming to the Fenway location about two years…read moreago and the staff was amazing, welcoming friendly, the clinicians knew what they were doing! I hadn't been in for about a year, just life happened... This new staff is rude. They are not friendly or welcoming at all! The clinicians are more concerned about getting Botox and whatever done on their own face during work hours, then they are concerned about you. My clinician came in and you can tell she just got Botox done while she's working, and then proceeds to tell me all the reasons I can't get my treatments done and I've never had a problem. On top of that, I have to drive two hours to go to that location so I ended up driving two hours getting a hotel to spend the night, and they had no care or concern no empathy or compassion! I would never ever suggest going here at least to this location. Now I have to go search for another location

I hadn't been in for over a year and she was too belligerently angry to listen to me when I asked her to please double-check my file. She did not behave the way a medical admin professional should behave I was embarrassed and genuinely scared to go in because of her screaming at me over HER mistake. When I got to the office there was NO APOLOGY for their egregious mistake. Then after purchasing a unit bundle, the same staff member started blowing up my phone 4 minutes (I checked) after I walked out of the store DEMANDING that I pay for the units. I had and I sent her the email invoice showing I had paid. Again she was unprofessional and cannot understand the basic functions of her job. The manager told me this nasty rude young lady "didn't know that transactions take a few minutes to go through." which is such a poor excuse. A grown adult functioning and living in 2025 KNOWS that transactions take a few minutes to go through. I'm going to the one in Sommerville now and I get a MUCH better experience. Which is sad the front staff here is so rude because I did like the nurses.

I've had electrolysis around Boston, and around southern California…read more One of their people is in a class of her own, when it comes to electrolysis. I have very thick facial hair, and one time, she cleared my face in three hours. I hesitate to mention it, because it sets a bar so high, but even if she did half as much, she would have done more than most people would done in more time. I heard that she may be dealing with a repetitive motion damage/injury. I hope she takes care of herself and heals up. I'm thankful for the help she's done.

I figured the pain might be worth it-- while the lady was really rough on my skin, I trusted that she knew what she was doing. After the microdermabrasion, my face was red in all different areas. I figured it would heal after some time. Days, weeks have gone by and there has been more scars on my face than prior. I'm really unhappy about the results. I was reluctant about posting photos of my face but I dont even care anymore. The following Friday I left them a voicemail, asking for some helpful advice on what I could do or a potential refund. It's been over 2 weeks and I still haven't heard back. I truly hope there is good reason behind why I was treated in such a manner. (Might be in a different order) 1st photo: Photo of my face while I sat in the waiting room. 2nd photo: Immediately after the session I went to the bathroom. My face had never felt as abused as it did that day. 3rd photo: 2-3 days later. Scars that never existed prior to the session, begin dto appear. My skin felt like it had been scraped against concrete. It no longer felt soft, it was rough and gritty. Today, it's been more than 2 weeks and these scars still remain.
