I got a Groupon for this place to try it out. I don't get many facials since I have pretty good skin. Location is on Scripps drive in a medical facility. They are on one of the upper floors. Parking is easy but across the street - I think there is some limited parking on the same side, but it's easier to park in the lot across the way. I had bought the package for microdermabrasion but opted for the light therapy too. Arianna was super nice and explained how things were going to go. She mentioned that the microdermabrasion will feel like a cat licking your face... And that is exactly what it was like. The light therapy was relaxing and I think it did help with some of my fine lines. She did mention that different light were meant for different skin concerns. I started going to SkinCurae when they were in midtown off J street and tried them first with a Groupon for a microdermabrasion. I was seen by Nancy and she was very nice and pleasant and immediately noticed my skin becoming softer and face feeling fresher. I've since followed them to their newer relocation off Scripps Drive. Nancy is no longer there, but have had 2 appointments with Ashley, the owner and let me tell you, she is amazing! She does a great job explaining things, making sure you feel comfortable and her pressure is perfect! She gives tips and doesn't oversell anything! The new location also has a free parking lot directly across the street, she has 5 and 6pm appointments as well as weekends and the new space is even bigger. Found this place through Groupon. I was a little confused by the area, but basically there's a parking lot straight across from this building. The building is identical to the building next to it. There's a group of different businesses inside each building. Just follow the directory downstairs to find skincurae. Booking the appt with a Groupon was really easy and they were able to get me in right away. I arrived a few minutes late because I got lost lol but they were able to still get me in. The service was rushed but I understand it's because I was late. I thought she was very friendly and I was grateful she didn't try to push random products onto me. It was relaxing and I did notice a difference in my skin after. It was smoother, less congested. SkinCurae is located on J Street in the same building as Tapas the World, on the second floor. Metered street parking is available, free on Sundays. Emily was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I appreciated her skin care tips and suggestions, and her candor about not being able to fully extract certain trouble spots. She covered my face fully with criss cross movement of the microdermabrasion wand and used several tools to helping my skin not only Looking radiant afterwards but feeling clean and buttery soft! She uses good quality facial products, Image, one of my favorite products as this product line smells amazing and feels great, very emollient. Went here with my sister for our first time and it was such a pleasant time! It's such a relaxing spot as soon as I walked I felt calm. Insanely difficult to get an appointment. I first reached out on July 21st through Yelp and received a response three days later. I gave them my phone number as they requested. On July 26, I finally received a call from them attempting to schedule me, BUT unfortunately I missed it. I quickly returned the call on that same day, unable to get a hold of them. I left a voicemail letting them know to return the phone call to schedule....it is now August 1st and have yet to hear back. I enjoyed my microdermabrasion facial very much! The salon is clean, cozy, and Emily did a seriously wonderful job. The only thing is that I experienced some pretty intense "purging" after the facial. I am breaking out like crazy. Through my own research I can see that this is normal for a first time microdermabrasion treatment but it would have been helpful to get some after care tips rather than just be told how nice my skin will feel. It does not feel nice! I've never had so many whiteheads. This is definitely just part of the microdermabrasion treatment and I'll go back to Skin Curae for sure, but again, I would have appreciated some advice that this might happen and some guidance on after care. read more
