Update 07/2020: I decided to give this place another go because my acne had gotten really bad from wearing masks all the time. I developed another reaction and realized that it was just an allergy that I may have developed to the products that they're using. It is not an issue with their facility or their products. Jaime insisted that I get allergy testing done before I resume with any treatments. She continued to follow up with me in a professional manner and offered cooling treatments to soothe my skin. I truly believe that she wants the best for my skin and wants her clients to be happy. Also, EJ spent over two hours on my skin, carefully applying masks and extracting. She's amazing. I have no idea what I would do without them. I had severe acne and acne scars. My sister came here first for a Hydrafacial and fell in love with the place. She gifted me a hydrafacial and when I went, Jamie took a look at my skin and recommended Ematrix laser treatments. At first, I was skeptical because they were more expensive and I would need multiple treatments, but she explained to me that I would need more Hydrafacial treatments than EMaxtrix, which would not fix my skin problems and would only be more expensive. I trusted her, and I'm so glad I did. I went for 3 eMatrix treatments, each 1 month apart. With each treatment, you can see my face clearing up more and more. Breakouts were less and the pimples themselves were smaller. My scars diminished so much! I am colored and have darker skin, but the laser was safe for my time and did not scar me at all. The actual procedure is a tiny bit painful but they apply numbing cream first. It does feel like a bad sunburn after but the pain goes down within an hr. You do HAVE to wear a hat after to cover your face since your skin is super sensitive at that point. Aftercare is also very important but Jamie walks you through it step by step. There is downtime since you're left with tiny pinpoint scabs all over your face and at a point it looks like facial hair lol but they fell off around day 5. I am 5 months out since the first treatment and I have had 1 tiny pimple since. With sunscreen, my scars continue to diminish and I have not needed another treatment since my 3rd one. Hands Down Best Skin Spa EVER! This may be a long review so brace yourself:) A few years ago, I woke up one day with dark black patches all over my face and bidy, I had assumed it would eventually disappear on its own, put on makeup and went about with my day. After a few months, dark patches just got darker and more spread out so I finally decided to go to a top black dermatologist specialized in darker skin tones, I got there, doctor did skin biopsy and nothing conclusive came out, he prescribed me 6% Hydroquinone to put on my face, right then I knew something was wrong bc I knew that, as a black person (which means we have the highest amount if melanin in the skin, Hydroquinone is not a safe option). I went back to drawing board and consulted with a 2nd top black derm specialized in darker skin tones, went in and she recommended an aggressive approach of 3 or 4 treatments the same day and I came out of there feeling something wasn't right, felt taken advantage of and on top of that with tons of products she sold at a much higher markup (found this when I got home and looked up these price products). That's when I took a pause and decided to look for a Korean-owned skin spa, simply because I felt that everytime I would meet a Korean woman or of Korean ancestry, their skin was flawless and I knew that Asians and Black folks have similar thick skin texture except that ppl like me have more brown pigment melanin that's when NY Skin Solutions came in. I went on Yelp to look for best Korean skin spa and I fell upon NY Skin Solutions and its 5 star rating. I, then, realized it was in Flushing, Queens and for Harlem-based gal like me, it meant over an hour commute but oh boy how happy I am to have tried this place. IT IS A GEM. Try it out and you will never go to another place. Everyone in here is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, from the owner Jamie, to esthetician/receptionist Sarah, Insook the Laser Queen, and esthetician EJ. Last week I received the Hollywood Spectra Carbon peel laser. I was amazed at how well this treatment worked. I have very sensitive skin and it didn't hurt at all. It's one of the best laser treatments I have received and you can definitely notice the difference right after. My pores were tight and the carbon removed all my dead skin and toxins and my skin was glowing!! Right after the result did show but with more days passing my skin would get better and better. I came to this location hoping I would see results with my skin condition and not get taken for my money. I think spas or clinics need to be more specific and true about their promises when they are talking to you about a certain treatment. I was told that if I get a combo of three treatments in the same day for the cost of $1100 in on day I would see results. So after paying $3,300 in 3 different days I did not see any changes. then , they suggested a different treatment which means more money so I fell right into it. that treatment also did not work for my skin condition. They are very quick to keep offering you more services that are not for your skin so whats the use. I spent over $4,500 in this location. I rated it a 0 because they should simply say Yes, we can treat or no we can not treat it. Spas take advantage of patients because they see that the person is desperate and in need to see changes but that means money to them. Skin solution is the place where you have to go if you have any skin concerns, especially acne. My experience with skin solution is amazing. I used to go to a dermatologist to treat my hormonal acne (jawline, around the mouth). The dermatologist had prescribed couple medicines and they also had practiced chemical peels for my acne every other week. Unfortunately, the treatments with the dermatologist did not work at all. However, once I started getting skin solution's acne treatments like Hydrafacial with the proper extractions, Ematrix laser, Microneedling, and PRP. After a few months later, my acne has begun to disappear slowly, and my acne no longer gets worse like before. Even if I get some pimples during my period, they either heal so fast or calm down right after the period. Also I recognized that my skin tone, texture and pores are improved as well. I don't normally leave reviews (let alone negative ones), but given the fact that I've spent over a thousand dollars here only to experience worse skin, I feel the need to leave a review. I had a very light age spot that I requested to laser off. The first time I went, Jamie used a gentle laser on it and I followed the post-care regimen (i.e., applied ointment daily and avoided direct sun exposure). Once the scab healed, I saw that there had been absolutely no effect. The second time I went in, I told Jamie that nothing had happened, and she blamed the fact that I didn't want any downtime so she had had to use a lower laser level. Although I had paid hundreds of dollars to receive a completely ineffective laser treatment, she did not offer any reimbursement or complimentary follow up treatment. Nonetheless, she had so many positive reviews so I was willing to listen to her professional advice. So I paid an additional couple hundred dollars to receive a stronger laser treatment on the sunspot. However, once the scab healed, the spot was larger and darker than before. (I've attached before and after pictures.) I am so disappointed--my makeup/foundation will not even cover it because it is so much darker than my skin, and I wish I hadn't lasered it at this clinic. I am now looking to actual dermatologists to fix this worsened condition. Moreover, although I received excellent service during my first visit, the service I received during my second visit was appalling. I came in early for my appointment, but waited almost an hour as they took care of other patients first (who had come in after me). When it finally was my turn, my appointment felt very rushed.
