My fiancé brought me back to the Keys for my 34th birthday. Since he is so good to me I wanted to…read moredo something special for him. I scheduled massages ON THE BEACH for us at 10am! The Island Body & Sol Spa is located at "the Moorings". This is a gorgeous property. If you get a massage here but do not stay here you will be feeling a little sad. We were led to a covered platform where 2 massage tables were set up with white privacy curtains. It was very Caribbean feeling which I loved. Natalie & Linda were our massage therapists. They were very nice. The massages however we both agreed the actual massage we very lack luster. Key points** if you get a massage on the beach you are paying for the view and feeling of being outside to the massage. I'm glad we did it but we will not be back. I need more umph in my massage! I'd rather pay that kind of money and be in a room than be yearning for more on an amazing beach.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the staff was so friendly, professional and catered to our massage styles (I like soft light pressure, he likes deep tissue). If you're getting a massage I don't see why you would do it inside. Outside is the way to go ! The cool ocean breeze, sound of the waves crashing, it is just so beautiful. It was perfect. The only thing that could've made this better would've been some champagne and being able to lounge by the ocean a little bit longer after our massage. The Moorings (resort where the spa is located) doesn't encourage anyone to stick around if you aren't staying with them, but I think it would've been nice to just relax a little longer instead of having to hop in our car right away. - the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5. Highly recommended, will be returning. PS like other reviews have said this is very informal, not a fancy spa setting, there's no sauna or steam room, more like a massage parlor. So don't go expecting full spa services, still it was wonderful !

On top of dealing with the horrible attitude at one point in the conversation he told me I was young and didn't know what I was talking about when I tried to explain the reasons why I like living in Marathon and how I see potential for it to improve. Very rude and ageist. I'm in my 30s, I've lived here for over five years, have a house here, 2 businesses here and I've been coming to the Keys since I was a kid so I'm not clueless. He was so busy complaining I watched the clock and it took him a little over 30 minutes just to wash my hair and brush it out. I wanted my hair washed, blow dried and slightly curled with giant waves. I left there with crimps in my hair and my hair not even curled all the way. I do admit I was in his chair five minutes late but him not getting me done was definitely because he was unfocused. To make things even worse after having a weekend where I couldn't stop thinking about how rude this guy was to me I called the manager to see if I could have somebody else redo my hair. She only offered me 15% off which is a disgrace. Had she allowed for another stylist to do my hair again for 50% off at least I would have been a long-term customer (and I leave great tips) but now she has lost me and my friends as customers forever and I will always recommend against this place. Left John a $15 tip just because I pity him. I admit I'm too nice sometimes and I should have walked out while he was brushing my wet hair.

Found this place open for Monday and thought YAYYYYY. We had to be in town for last minute things anyways, so we just stopped in as soon as they opened. The lady at the front gave us a look like we immediately annoyed her by walking in her door. She was on the phone, rolled her eyes and asked them to hold, put her mask sort of up to her mouth and asked what we wanted. I said we were looking for nails for both of us and a cut for my bride. She got so MAD! Her: Harumph I couldn't get you in until 1. Me: ok, do you know of anywhere around here to get them done earlier? Her: NO. Me: You really don't know any other place in this tiny town to get nails or hair done. Her: NO. Me: I find that hard to believe. Her: ((wait for it)) you can try the nail place THREE DOORS DOWN in the SAME STRIP! Literally about 50 ft. I realize nobody wants to lose business, but that was just so beyond ridiculously rude for absolutely no reason. She could have been even the slightest bit helpful and suggest the nail place straight away, but felt the need to make visitors feel crappy on their special day. It really is hard to figure out who is open and when here in the island towns. We did our homework and their page said no appointment needed. Oh well. Her loss....and it's a big one. Good job lady.

Apparently my mother was off her mat doing a balancing pose and was told, "Are you sweating on my carpet?" and "Sweat on your own mat." My mother got on her mat and mentioned she does better off the mat. Instructor replied, "So? We all do." My mother was humiliated and embarrassed. This was not very yoga-like to command people to stay on their mats. I guess I'd be concerned they are not properly disinfecting/cleaning between classes if instructor feels the need to embarrass students who step off their mats. A great yoga instructor makes a student feel at ease and feel welcome. In this case, Marylee fell short of great.

For my wedding, I asked for a subtle ombré French tip and showed reference photos. Instead, I received bright white tips with uneven thickness. Some nails had longer white tips than others, with harsh lines and little to no ombré. I decided to give them another chance for my baby shower and again showed multiple photos of a nude French. The first attempt resulted in solid white dip nails, and my natural nails were filed down excessively. When I pointed this out, they redid them, but had to add length to my nails, which I wanted to avoid, and the second set looked even worse. What was most concerning was that one nail was filed so thin it reached the skin and caused a burning sensation. Even after I expressed discomfort, the area continued to be filed. Despite all of this, I was still charged $115. Both visits felt rushed, and I did not feel that my requests were followed. Based on my experiences, I would not recommend this salon.
