During my recent visit to V.A. for a business meeting, coming from New York, i needed a place to fix myself up. Because I wasn't able to get it done before I left home, I went to Skillz Kutz Barbershop in Ashburn, following a friend's recommendation. Fortunately I was able to get an appointment. The barbershop immediately set a welcome and professional mood. Rio and the staff greeted me which added to the clean, inviting atmosphere. I got my little fade cut, a line and shape up in addition to having my goatee trimmed proper and was very happy with the result. The barbershop had a lively yet relaxing vibe, making the whole experience enjoyable. The conversation with the owner Rio and his wife, as well as the other staff was very friendly, making me feel like I had been going there for years. I've never not had a great haircut from here, and I've sat in the chair of most of the current barbers. Great relaxed atmosphere and clean.

We've been coming to Rio since he worked in another barbershop, and now he opened his own place and let me tell you that this place is beautiful, high class, clean, I love the decoration, the floor. Great environment, family friendly,good music even better conversation. A thanks to Rio who always give my sons fresh cuts he's a stand up guy. I'm reading some of these comments and it's not factual, when everyone knows their prices are listed on the app. There was a comment about pricing services higher because of Covid, those claims aren't true, they weren't even open during Covid, they opened in 2023 after covid. Prices are very reasonable, , but you pay for what ever services you want. I've seen them do hot towel shaves, and they were featured in Barber Evo and they've also won the best of Loudoun. The barbers apply the best moisturizing oils and creams on my guys, and for me and my family we'll continue to go to the best which is Skillz Kutz. The success they've had in just a few years speaks VOLUMES for the service they produce. read more

Extremely overpriced. $90 for a haircut because of the COVID excuse is flat out taking advantage of people. 25 years of getting haircuts I've never been charged more than $30 which I usually leave a $20 tip out of gratitude for their skill. For Kim and Rio to be pushing their barbers to charge $90 per haircut is just inexcusable and very poor judgment on taking advantage of the hardworking citizens of Ashburn especially when they're not offering anything but a straight razor and head shears. No hot towel shave, no oils no creams, no moisturizing fans, misting fans, nor hand vibrating massages just a plain old haircut. I was told the barber gets nothing out of the $90 and only gets paid if I tip them. so I was literally charged $90 just to spend 25 minutes in their building. Chuck did a good job on the haircut and was a stand up individual. I'm sorry to see that the barbers are put in such a position. I'm sure there's a few barbers that absolutely love the fact they're charging $90 per haircut but there's also at least one or two barbers that know deep down those prices are criminal and are ashamed of what they're apart of I could understand if you were doing something different than any other barber shop but you're doing the same thing as the guy next door and charging three times the price all based off of lies. I wish him all the best but be forewarned you are going to be taking advantage of by being charged three times the price of a normal haircut in most cases four times more than the average haircut. It's simple math and it only adds up to robbery on their part. read more

Haircuts are very expensive. Not worth the increased cost for the haircut I received and I got the simple cut. Got better haircuts for $40 less than what they charge. I do like that they allow you to schedule an appointment. read more

Today my son received a haircut by a "master barber" and I use this term loosely because his haircut was anything but that of what a "master barber" should be capable of. This has got to be the worst haircut that my son has ever received. This barber didn't listen to him at all in regards to what he wanted. He came out looking worse than when he went in; given a military cut and for $48??!!! Really???!!! You may want to think twice before coming here; and to think that I had such high hopes for this black owned business and very much wanted to support it. Smh. Brought my son in for a clean up hair cut within an appointment. While it was great that someone was available to fit him in between other appointments, our appointment was rushed and resulted in a very sloppy haircut. We had to go to another salon afterwards and pay double to have it fixed which also then resulted in his hair being shorter than planned. My son also has cowlicks and this barber was not experienced enough to know how to cut his hair and shaved to the top of his head. Overall, know exactly what cut you want and be sure to ask if someone there is certain they can cut it and know how to cut your type of hair. read more

Skillz Kutz recently opened in the Goose Creek Village shopping center. My son (age 6) has been seeing Tyrone for over a year and we would follow him anywhere. He is extremely detail oriented and patient with kids. The shop is impeccably clean with a classy/modern feel and there is plenty of free parking. All of the barbers were busy when we arrived, but not too busy to give us a warm welcome and thank us for our business. This place really raises the bar as far as what to expect from a barbershop when it comes to professionalism and having a pleasant experience. read more
