This is our second time renting from Ski Patrol for our. pontoon boat day when at the lake. This year we rented a tritoon, a pontoon with three tubes. It was so clean and it appeared to be brand new. It had really great seating options, I loved every moment! The tube that came with wasn't big, but we had a lot of fun cruising down the lake, and putting around beaches. We rented a jetski and had the time if our life!! This place is top notch!! From the ladies who answer the phone, team in the office, to the crew onsite- nothing but amazing people!! Pricing was super affordable! Equipment was really nice! Office is super easy to find and their location on the beach perfect!!!! In addition to jetskis- they offer boat rental (2 types), kayaks, water bikes and more. We were first time riders. I was nervous to drive but they teach you everything! Once on the lake we stayed in the "slow area" which was great for our 1st time (TBH I was nervous for NO reason) but as the time went by we got brave and headed to the "faster area" I have a kiddo in a wheelchair, a preteen and my 60y Mom..  they went above and beyond to make sure we were ALL having fun! Our experience with the boat was excellent. They were really helpful. We also rented a jet ski for the next day. We watched her write it down and the next day they said they "forgot" to schedule it and they were full. Our little ones were so disappointed. Nothing was done to make it right which was disappointed. The experience overall was ok, just make sure to call several times to check on your reservation. read more

This is the 2nd time I've rented from Ski Patrol. I had a good experience last year on one of their pontoon boats, but we rented an 18' Bayliner this year for an 8 hour day, and we had a terrible experience. Within the first hour and a half we ended up stranded in the middle of the lake when the boat wouldn't start. We were towing a tube (which we also rented), and we turned the boat off every time we switched riders. Each time we restarted the boat, the ignition switch kept getting looser and spinning around, until one of the times it never caught and we couldn't get the boat started. Finally, it just completely fell through the dashboard to the backside of the dash and the front of the ignition switch popped off onto the floor. Not knowing what to do, we called the office for help. They said they could come out to get us, but that it would be over an hour before they would be there, and I had 4 little girls between the ages of 2-8 on the boat with us. While I was on the phone with them, one of the people on the boat figured out that if you hold the ignition switch from the back, push it through the hole in the dashboard, and turn the key from the front, that we could get the boat to start. Panicked and stressed out with a toddler crying in the background, I told them I needed to get the kids back to the campground and that I would call them back when I figured out what I was going to do because they had also told me that they didn't have another boat and that they would work with me on the price since I was driving a broken boat. I got the girls back and decided that I would continue driving the boat since I had about 20 other people that had been looking forward to this rental for the last several months as we've been planning this given the discount I believed I was getting in exchange for not having a fully functional vehicle. Since I wasn't bringing the boat back early, I didn't think they needed to hear from me and I thought we were on the same page. However, when I returned the boat at the end of the day, things went from bad to worse. The man that took the boat back from me just popped the front of the ignition switch back onto the switch in the dashboard, called it "fixed", and made it seem like I was being dramatic that the boat had fallen apart on me in the middle of the lake. Then when I went to talk to Jamie, the woman taking care of billing, she refused to give me the discount I had been promised for the inconvenience and trouble on the water because they were only planning on giving me a refund if I returned it right after I dropped the kids off at camp (no one ever mentioned this on the phone earlier in the day). Then, while I was standing there, the man who had put me and 3 other people in the boat at the beginning of the day felt it necessary to come over and tell me I had taken off in the boat without listening to his instructions, like this was all my fault. And let me tell you, he did not say he had instructions. We were all on the beach together for about 15 minutes before he loaded us into the boat, pushed us out where we were deep enough to lower the motor into the water, and walked away. I was absolutely amazed at how they treated me when I got back with the boat that evening. I thought I was coming back to compassionate people that were going to help me out after a stressful experience, but instead I was received by a group of people who wanted to make the whole thing my fault. It was entirely uncalled for. I've been coming to Lake McConaughy for over 35 years, and I've always had lovely experiences with people in the community. This, however, was a nightmare. They were rude, unprofessional, uncaring people, and I would never knowingly let anyone I know rent from them without telling them about my encounter with them. They do not care AT ALL about their customers or their boats. Avoid Ski Patrol and rent from Big Mac Parasailing instead. read more

Would give this 0 stars if I could. We went a couple weeks ago for a camping trip and rented a boat through Ski Patrol. We rented the boat from 11-5, and ended up sitting on the shore until 11:50 for the other group to arrive. When they finally did show up after claiming to be "lost," they had broken a seat. Another delay. We ended up getting on the boat at 12. An HOUR after we paid to have it. The owner and employees said multiple times they'd "make it up to us" and not only pay for our gas, but comp the hour we paid for but didn't receive. Long story short, our hour was never comped. We called multiple times to get our money back, and they said they'd only comp the gas. Their demeanor was terrible and they clearly did NOT care about making it "right by us." NEVER use this company. Seriously. Never. read more

7/4/11 It was hard to find boat rentals for Lake Mac but called these guys and they had a boat for the whole weekend. I have to say the people in the office were good to work with, especially since it was the weekend of the 4th. The guys on the beach were great as well. They were very helpful getting the boat ready and in the water. We had 2 adults and 5 kids, so we had quite a group and they went out of their way to help us out both in and out of the water. Definitely recommend these guys and will be visiting them again! read more

Rented a boat today for a full day! But the weather was to get bad later in the day so we asked if we had to keep boat for entire day! They said no we could return early for a refund! We were on south side of lake when we saw a family on boat that was broken down we spent the next two hours towing them back to dock! By this time weather was getting bad and there were white caps on lake so we returned boat 3 hours early as a storm was coming in! We got back and we asked if they were going to tow boat back in so my husband with bad knees and hips could get off the boat with having to jump down into the water and taking off his shoes the guy said NO so he had a very difficult time getting down and then had to walk thru the sand and water barefoot which would have been ok if he had shoes on! The woman filled the tank there is nothing that you can see the actual number of gallons of gas they put in! And she said ok we are even! What the hell! You said if I brought it back early I would get a refund! That is not a refund! I don't know how many gallons of gas i put into the boat and I paid 450 for a boat for 8 hours and i got it back after five because of a thunderstorm coming in with high winds! I think there is a little swindling going on here! I want to know how much gas I really used I want to see a receipt and get it in writing how much they will refund if u return early because of weather! read more

Rented a pontoon boat for 8 hrs for Saturday 20th, the morning weather was pretty crappie so we called to see if we could shift the hours of the rental to more of the afternoon. Unfortunately they rented the boat after us and we could not, so we just picked it up an hour later and they adjusted the cost to reflect 7hrs. we picked up the boat at 10am the weather was still gloomy but we had hopes it would clear, after 4 hours of clouds and cooler weather we headed back to the beach and called it a day. We returned the boat 3 hours early I did not expect any money back because that's how things work as well as the charge to re-full it with gas. I was so surprised when the guys at the docking area call up to the office to get us credited for the unused hours (minus the gas) because of weather. I wish more companies took care of there customers like that. Amazing experience! I will recommend them to anyone I know and would use them again. read more
