We did a 3 hour painting party and it was the perfect amount of time. All of the girls had a blast, we brought snacks and made mimosas. All of our pictures came out really great, even though i have no art skills at all. It was relaxing but fun at the same time, a perfect day time thing to do before a girls night out. My favorite part about this place is the owners, Brian and Patty. These two are the cutest couple ever and are so happy doing what they love for a living. They are incredibly talented and funny. They are great teachers and a lot of fun to be around. I cant wait to go back and do more classes. We are already waiting for the next event, a couples painting class in September! My friend, who is an artist, introduced me to this place, and she says that CAW has a strong reputation in the art community. I have zero art background, but I have taken drawing and photography classes here. All the teachers were friendly, enthusiastic, and well-prepared. I felt like I learned a lot and that the teachers were encouraging of beginners. They have a huge variety of classes here including cool stuff I'd like to try like metal sculpture. There are both short workshops (good for artists who are already well-versed in a topic but want to pick up a new technique) and longer classes. The cost is a little pricey, but well-worth it in my opinion. They also have an exhibition space and show really nice artwork there. This past summer, my friend and I went to see a juried show there and it was very good. The Creative Arts Workshop is a fantastic place to learn art and join an artistic community. I can't recommend it highly enough.

In the Perspective Drawing of Buildings and Architecture workshop, Eric March introduced strategies, gave students a chance to experiment, and consulted individually to discuss what works for each person and how to expand skills. His presentation was clear, and his comments were gentle and specific. For me, as a non-professional with some drawing experience, the class was engaging and informative - a delightful way to spend two afternoons. Being able to see and draw things from different perspectives makes drawing more fun and satisfying. As someone who ordinarily is more interested in life than buildings, I also realized the advantage of starting with boxier shapes, knowing that I can apply the same techniques to the animate world now that I have seen how they work. I highly recommend the workshop and other opportunities to work with Eric March.

Taylor is extremely talented in the fine arts she loves to draw. While my friends were sending their kids to test prep for High School entrance exams. I was searching for the perfect Art Studio and Mentor for my daughter to build her portfolio. Once her pieces were completed she then applied to her top 3 NYC DOE Specialty High Schools. Her 1st choice High School of Art & Design, 2nd Frank Sinatra & her 3rd choice was Laguardia High School. In March! We wouldn't know if she got in until mid June. In the meantime we applied to Saint Frances Preparatory School AP Art Honors Program with the same portfolio and she got accepted! I knew she was safe for her back up High School if she wasn't accepted. I have to say finding Rob Zeller at The Teaching Studios of Art was the best thing I ever did for Taylor. He helped her focus and taught her the techniques she needed to fine tune her portfolio. For her Still Life piece throughout the entire process from the Pencil Sketch to transforming it into the most amazing oil painting. On June 8th we were going to find out if she got accepted to one of her 3 choices. My husband and I were in suspense with Taylor as we were checking to see if she got in. I was an amazing feeling seeing that she got accepted to a Specialty High School in NYC. But, she got into her first choice High School of Art & Design in Manhattan! Honestly, if it wasn't for Robert Zeller and his Art Studio in The Village of Oyster Bay, who could say more! I don't know where we would be. We signed up for the In Person Private Art Classes. She had 1 on 1 teaching and loved being their to paint. I am extremely grateful that I found The Teaching Studios and proud of all that Taylor was accomplish with Rob by her side. I can't wait for them to start working on her college portfolio for The School of Visual Arts! I know she will get in with Rob as her Mentor. Thank you. He is excellent at assessing students strengths and weaknesses- the perfect combination to encourage and guide artists to their full potential. Small classes sizes enable Rob to devote personal attention to each student as he moves them to the next skill level. Personally, I have been taking classes here for number of years and am now in the Figurative Core Program. This traditional in-depth art program builds on drawing skills to move onto painting.
