Really fun experience, especially with the chilly weather, which for some reason compels people to…read morego outside and do such wintry activities even though they'll have to bundle up, lest they catch a cold or such. In all seriousness, it's a decent-sized skating rink with cute snowflake lighting above and nice surrounding shops and eateries, such as TJ Maxx, DSW, and Basic Burger. Actually, it's on the smaller end, but I think there's a limit to the number of people that can be out there at once, since we were given stickers to display while we were in the ice, and these stickers had a time at which our reservation expired (I think). My bros, my bro's gf, and I had a blast going 'round and 'round, initially holding onto the rails (at least my bro's gf and I had to), before acclimating and being able to skate closer to the middle of the rink. We made reservations on the phone about a day prior, and were tended to and able to get our skates immediately when we got there. They have these standing training wheels that you can skate with (some look like penguins). I don't really know how to describe them or what to call them besides that. Anyway, my bro's gf was more gradual with gaining her balance on the ice, and she thought it was unfair that only little kids were allowed to be able to use these training equipment. I noted a few skate guards on the ice; good to know there are individuals out there presumably to ensure skaters' safe leisure. After skating for about an hour or so, we enjoyed some hot chocolate and ice cream (never too cold!) at Mimi's ice cream parlor just outside the rink.

Luckily we were able to get a skating helper stand for her, but I feel like there needs to be more of them. Reasonably priced for a two hour block of skating. Once enrolled, easy check-in, so far always greeted. The facility stays clean, the pool, showers, equipment. Love the in-door track above one of the ice-rinks. Stays nice & cool, and sometimes you have skaters to watch while doing laps. . Wife already tried a class & enjoyed it. They release updated schedules regularly. The pool is awesome, only have had to share a lane once. They have a diving board & climbing wall in the deep end. They have a nice shallow area for families. Locker rooms have plenty of lockers, showers. A little short on benches. They also have a climbing wall (not my thing) but the young people seem to love it. They have gym, fitness and other type of classes available. We are looking forward to our first year membership.

Most unprofessional gym environment I have ever encountered, no etiquette from members slamming…read moreweights breaking machines and spending long periods of time on each machine which shouldn't be an issue but there is only 1 of each machine. Staff members judged me for lifting more than the average person while I was working off of my numbers that will help me improve my strength the layout of the gym is very confusing and there are a lot of ways to make the gyms layout better. Another note is I am all for younger children working out. However, there is no reason for kids that appear to be 10-12 years old using the gym especially when they don't have adult supervision I am shocked that this is allowed as most gyms have an age requirement. Another issue is there are clear and posted gym rules that members seem to take as suggestions, slamming weights on machines, wearing flip flops in the gym etc. if there are gym rules they should be enforced by the staff. The bench press racks are not bolted into the floor and are crooked, the dumbbells are unorganized and the members that pay hard earned money deserve better than what the establishment has to offer.

Color me impressed!…read more My four-year old recently finished a beginner course with Fairfax Ice Arena and now has the confidence to try to run away from me on the rink during a busy public skate session Honestly, I had no idea what to expect because my daughter is so small but our instructor Melinda was absolutely awesome with keeping our little ones safe, engaged, and learning on the ice! She knew everyone's name and was able to keep track of a bunch of toddler/early elementary old crazies which she deserves a gold medal for in itself. We would definitely join in on another session with her in the future. The prices of the lessons were really affordable and they also included several public skate admission/rentals so the kiddos could practice their skills which made the package a great value. My only suggestion is more formal information via email on what to expect before the first class so we as parents can prepare better.

There's also often a Groupon for 2 for the price of 1. I also really enjoy the music they play - it's got me moving to the music as I skate. I know it's not as new as some places but I like the convenient location and I like that I almost always see a friend there since lots of people go to this arena.

In a world where trampoline parks charge $20+ a kid for an hour, this place feels like a miracle. It was pretty crowded, but they keep a good flow going on the floor, good music, and a great family friendly atmosphere. They have the little walker/roller carts for children to learn on, but fair warning they do run out so get there early or you might be waiting. You might think that with such a cheap entry fee they make up the money on concessions, but nope. A bottle of water is still only $1 here. Honestly, Bush Tabernacle seems like a community service project gone right and just what parents of cabin-fevered kids need in this area. I hadn't skated it like 20 years and somehow picked it right back up, and it was fun for me too. In addition to the skating rink, they also have a small free play game area where kids can take a break with Fortnite, Rocket League, etc., as well as two air hockey tables and a ping pong table. There's a large area with tables for renting out for parties, too. I was pleasantly surprised by this place, and the whole family wants to come back soon.
