I don't know maybe customer service make a fine come back to American venues. Absolutely everyone who worked there, and I was told it's a fam business, so probably genetics, we're extremely unhelpful and would not even politely say that they aren't aware. Their website is horrible. There 0 information on what's allowed or not, and then you bring balloon and confetti and they yell at you There is only one restroom and there were a lot of people. Our birthday "room" was in a hall with dividers - where others peoples were having a party. The service girl was constantly very stressed, Red in the face and kept bringing thighs we did not order lol. The last complain - I promise - the "DJ" was playing slow elevator music, from the 70's and kids all went off the rink and was just sitting in the small divider ))) I went to the DJ- asked for music suitable for 9-10 year girls and boys and girls my mum. He said 0- oh I don't what to play ((( maybe you make a music list and give to me? I gave him $20 and he forgot about the list. I would still go there w my kids - just to skate, in dark cold evenings- but if you are planning a birthday party, think again. Thank you. P.S. Great place to go skating had a wonderful time at the birthday party that was here! The skating rink was a average skating rink, but it was nice to have the additional space outside of the " usual rink" area if you wanted to go a little bit faster around slower, skaters or children. They tend to have a good music that kept me Bob in my head and I enjoyed the event. Cons: pizza was average for what you pay and there wasn't much decoration put up to separate smaller birthdays from everyone else. Overall nice place! read more

Pretty sure people come here because it's the only option in the area. Been here multiple times for birthdays, and every time it's the same: rude teenage staff that wants to rush you out as soon as possible, overpriced pizza that tastes like cardboard, even the pretzels are bad and that's hard to do...probably because they just nuke them straight out of the bag. Today they are out of hot dogs halfway through the 3 hour long session and it's not even the busiest I've seen it. Good luck having a good time here. read more

Skateland is an Olympia area family-owned beacon for locals. If you don't see the charm, it's because you haven't had several generations skate there. Food is mediocre - so bring your own. But who let's you bring you own these day!? Yes the ladies are curt sometimes (who wouldn't be after decades of people dropping off their kids?) but they are also super grandmotherly in needed situations. This is a blast from the 1970's still going strong. Embrace it or drive to Centralia or Tacoma. They have survived a lot of economic downturns and punk kids! read more

Unsanitary, but very homey. The bathrooms smell very bad and only have two stalls, but at least they have soap. Before COVID, the snack bar sold pizza, soda, hotdogs and such, but now are not able to. They have activities every little while, and used to have free sodas as prizes, but like I mentioned, the snack bar is closed. They changed the old gum-caked carpets for new ones, which is good. They no longer have a rat infestation. The employees are all nice and helpful, and often take song requests. As long as you don't touch anything, you'll probably like it here. read more

Although the place isn't very updated or large, it's a nice, cheap night out. When we arrived for the Wednesday night skate 7-9 pm there was a long line waiting to get in when the doors opened--kids, teens, and adults. It's only $2 (cash) for admission which includes skate rental so you really can't go wrong. It was fairly crowded so if you're really into skating and want to move really quickly I can see that being annoying but otherwise it's a great experience. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and we did too! read more

This place is comparable to a toilet. A toilet that has been used by everyone in your family for a week without being flushed. Seriously, I used to go to Skateland when I was in the 7th grade - 28 years ago and I honestly don't think they have done one thing to improve the place. My children who are now 10 and 13 like to skate and unfortunately this is the only skating place in Olympia. I wish I had money to build a new rink because the only reason this place has any business at all is because they are the only rink for 30 miles. The carpets are disgustingly filthy, stained and torn. The ceiling has water stains, is missing tiling and even worse, there is actually mold in some areas. The bathroom is downright disgusting. The floors have holes in them covered by black electrical tape. The counter top is old and cracking, missing some pieces. The "party room" had a table saw sitting on the counter. Perfect for little kids to be around. The eating area floor has not been cleaned for who knows how long. There is smashed food particles everywhere you look. There was actually a weedeater sitting in the corner of the eating area as well. Nice. The food is deplorable and expensive. The gal working at the counter acted as if I was asking her to move the mountains when I asked her if she was going to make some popcorn, since the popcorn machine was empty. It was never made in 3 hours. I asked for some napkins for my son who was eating some "nachos i.e. canned cheese and 13 stale chips". She threw me a roll of paper towels. The vending machine was half empty but if you want some gummy worms in a baggie, there were some of those to be had. WTH!?!?!?! The rental skates, I swear, are the same skates from 28 years ago. They are falling apart, the leather is torn, and they literally stink. I dont know if the owners are just greedy and want to keep profit without putting anything back into the place or if they truly dont see the dump this place has become. I think if the health department were to show up and see the mold they would probably have to do something about it since so many kids spend a lot of time there. If you can, make the trip to Centralia's Roller drome or go to Tacoma to skate there. read more

A really fun place for kids to play and hangout. It looks remodeled. It's clean and organized coming in. The chaos is at where you get something to eat and drink. There is one person handling food and drinks. There is no order as to who goes first and next because everyone surrounds a round table waiting for the worker to tend to their order. This places motto is pretty much "IDGAF"... For example, what type of business in the year 2018 does not even have a sign on the outside of the building? IDGAF. The place hasn't been updated or deep cleaned for a couple generations. IDGAF. Employees act like the paying customers are bothering them whenever you talk to them. IDGAF. Pizza tastes like cardboard and all the snacks are pretty nasty. IDGAF. Seriously though, it's a good place to run some energy out of your kids on a rainy day. On the plus side there are none of the horrible ticket spewing games to distract the kids like at the Rollerdrome or Skate Tiffany. But this place definitely is no Skate Tiffany's. I spoke with a woman after hours on the phone June 1st, 2021 because I didn't have internet at the time. She sounded very rude as she was giving me hours and explained how it had been years since an all night skate. This woman must be very tired or doesn't like her job. I don't know why she bothered to answer the phone with the mood she was in. My granddaughter just wanted some answers. I wish I could give this place no stars. My son was invited to a party here and was accompanied by his older brother and father. The place was disgustingly dirty and the food made my son and husband sick. They ordered nachos and burritos (which from the looks of the place they should have known better) The burrito was still cold on the inside indicating it was a frozen burrito and they don't know how to use a thermometer. Upon coming home my husband was struck with severe diarrhea. The next morning, my son came home from school with severe diarrhea and vomiting. He has been super sick for the past two days. Except for the girl working the kitchen, the staff was all very rude. I tried to come in 5 min before the time our party started and got yelled at by a very rude woman, I'm assuming an owner. I had been callIng and leaving messages for a week to get more info on when we could come in, with no reply or answer. They have skating from 7-9 but half our party didn't get in until 7:30 because it takes so long for them to get people in the door. To all the haters giving bad reviews to Skateland let me just point out roller rink have been going out of business across the country. Very difficult to maintain a roller rink profitably in this environment. The wood is really good better than most. The DJs play good music and the crowd is safe for your children to skate with. To get a better rink experience you have to travel at least a half hour 40 minutes. From Olympia. So bring your own snacks in your own drinks if the snack bar sanitation bothers you. This place was pretty good The lines were nice and long but the lady that checked us in was so strict I would not call her rude though. The skates were turning a dark yellow I don't know if it's supposed to be like that but they were pretty dirty. When I went there was a kid maybe 14-17 that ligit took 25 minutes to make my food and didn't pay attention to who came earlier than others. The skate area was nice and big. read more

Masks are required for entry, BUT the mask policy is definitely NOT enforced. I took my five year old there today (Sunday). There were so many people who consistently had their masks below their chins, it was shocking that nobody on staff did anything about it. I'm here with my daughter and her friend. The place is falling apart the bathrooms are gross. My daughter and friend needed water I went to the snack bar to buy water and the girl behind the counter said "there are drinking fountains in the bathroom." Um yuck. And my daughter and friend said they were too disgusting, so I spotted a vending machine with water so tried to put dollars in it..no luck. I sent my daughter to trade bills with the snack bar chick and she said.."there's a quarter machine." Seriously? I then said to her, do you think the dollars will go into the quarter machine? She said "probably not." So I said, "just exchange the dollars. Thanks." She walked over to her till and brought back quarters. Need I mention that we were the only people at the snack bar? Oh as for getting snacks? $10.00 minimum with a debit card. WTF? EDIT: OMG I was sitting at the bar, watching my daughter skate and the same chick just came up to me and said: "Can you leave the snack bar area so I can mop?" Seriously. I love this place!! We got in for $8 including skates and set off for a fun adventure! The snack bar is closed because of Covid, luckily they have vending machines full of drinks and snacks. The place could definitely use a couple of upgrades, but an overall great place for everyone to hang out. Another complaint of mine is, that they allow little toddlers in skates on the floor where everyone is zooming around them it's a great way for others and the toddlers to get hurt! I have filed a complaint with Thurston county health dept. 2 times I have come here in 1 year with a group. and both times we hve either encountered rats or rats droppings in the dinning area. this time while eating a frozen burrito that was also frozen in the middle still, a rat was trapped against some panel board in the dinning area. some tennagers trapped it. it took 5 minutes for managers to come and open a door and shimmy the rat out the door. last time we were here, rat droppings where on the floor directly underneath me. its not hard to get a service to take car of this. since I was here on Friday I have been sick since. this is a horrible set up for people to eat and play if you cant keep it clean. read more

I haven't skated in about 20 years, but it came back to me like riding a bike. A sort of shaky, uncertain bike that's difficult to stop effectively, but the experience was fun -- and recommended! I can think of three good things about Skateland, so I gave it 3 stars. 1. You can go there to see some great Roller Derby, including the 2009 National Champions - the Oly Rollers! 2. It's cheap compared to most other roller rinks. 3. They have a nice big stone fireplace. Tonight when we are at Skateland for a birthday party an old man who I believe was the owner yelled and threatened my son with so much anger in his voice that my son who is 12 years old was truly scared that he was going to be hurt and or kidnapped. I was not there to witness this event but when I did go to pick up my son there was another woman in her 30s wearing all black that was running the radio that also yelled at my son with hatred and contempt in her voice for being on the floor with his shoes. I tried to call Skateland and of course their number doesn't pick up and their voicemail is full. It is important for the owners of Skateland to know that this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and so therefore it is important that I put something on Yelp that identifies Skateland is a place that needs some serious Improvement. I am absolutely disgusted with what my son shared. The owners should be embarrassed and should strive to correct this behavior in a timely fashion. read more

We are visiting from out of town (San Jose) and my 10 year old niece really wanted to go here. I looked this place up and was reluctant because of the reviews, but it was pouring rain so decided what the heck. I am so glad we did! $5 per person is very reasonable! The skates were not new but they worked great! Music was fun. There was a young gal at the snack shack that was so sweet and personable, she had the place running perfectly, keeping everything in order. Her name was Jacquelyn. And the guy with curly dark hair in where you check out the skates who super quick and kept that line moving! We don't have ANY places like this is Silicon Valley any more.
