Booking this was nearly impossible and we almost gave us! Numerous phone call attempts. This past weekend, our party of 4 got to the spa and were told one massage was going to be with a male provider. The person who would be getting the massage was not comfortable with that. Woman at check in just kept saying "they ask if you have a preference or not on the phone when booking" which they did not. But my biggest upset (which I brought to 2 staff members attention and it wasn't handled) Was phones everywhere in the sanctuary waiting area. There's signs stating to refrain from electronic use. It's never once been an issue there. You're in a robe, there to relax, and when it looks like someone's holding up their phone taking a photo of you? Immediately uncomfortable and any relaxing I'm trying to do is GONE. Upset, disappointed, frustrated. It shouldn't be the customers job to inform staff people are on their phones (which is what I was told when I brought it up at check out)... You can pay and arm and a leg elsewhere, and have a great experience!

I am a curly haired gal and- let me tell you- I have experienced some pretty awful haircuts in Upstate New York. Lots of places advertise curly cuts, "devacuts", yaddah yaddah- but they truly have no idea what they are doing. I can't tell you how many times I have had to go to NYC for rescue haircuts. ENTER JOLENE AND BIJOU.... if you want a great curly cut, this is where you should be going. Jolene is a genius- she truly understand the dynamic nature of curls and takes her time getting a lay of the "curl land" before she starts snipping. She starts with a dry cut to make sure she doesn't take too much... then she proceeds with the wash and dry process... and then- the grand finale- more styling at the end. She cut my hair before my wedding last July- it was perfect. And she just rejuvenated my mop of hair again today. I find the prices to be very, very fair. As an aside, everyone wears masks at the salon, and they check your temp and employ mandatory hand washing when you first walk in. If you have curly hair and are living in upstate New York/Syracuse, you must try this place.

I asked if the mistake could have been made on their end, because I had the appointment on my calendar for weeks and remember making it. The other person was not there. They made me wait for 20 minutes, not telling me whether or not they would take me, just saying, "You're not in the book." Meanwhile, the other person did not show up and did not answer their phone when they called her. I told the receptionist I was starting to get frustrated with the situation, because I know I'd made the appointment. After 20 minutes the stylist came out and said that she would not take me because I'd been rude to the receptionist. I was in disbelief and asked her, "Chelsea, Are you really not going to take me? This mistake must have been on your end, and I've been looking forward to this appointment for weeks". She merely told me that her "heart was racing and it wasn't good for her so I'd have to reschedule" Never in our interaction did they acknowledge that the mistake could have been on their end, and they treated me horribly. I'm 72 years old and have never been accused of being rude by a shop in my life. Bijou has no idea how to treat their customers. Their arrogance is beyond belief.
