My father passed away in April and I was responsible for marketing his home on behalf of the estate. Barr met with us early and made us feel very confident that due to his roots in Marin County he would be the best one to sell my Dad's home. Barr's professional team guided me through the preparation for sale, the renovations were done in a very cost-effective manner and I felt I was in touch with the process. His operations manager, Jaclyn Blumberg, kept me informed every step of the way. When it came time to sell the home, Barr was there at the open houses and helped us generate multiple offers that resulted in us closing the house at 16% above the asking price.

This may seem like a small thing to others, but this level of consideration and respect for a household says a lot about his character. We got an appointment quickly and the turnaround time was fast. Really couldn't have imagined this happening in a better way. Thank you, Austin!

When the right house finally came along, Alex helped us move quickly and strategically, putting together a compelling offer that ultimately got us the house. While Alex's primary market and expertise are in Marin, he brought that same level of knowledge and experience to our Sonoma purchase and knew exactly how to help us navigate the process. At the same time, we were preparing to sell our property in Marin with Alex, so there were a lot of moving pieces to coordinate. He connected us with fantastic brokers and helped make what could have been a complicated process feel seamless. Alex was knowledgeable, strategic, patient, and responsive throughout. He took the time to explain everything clearly, helped us navigate all of the details and decisions along the way, and made the entire experience feel manageable. Even the seller's agent commented on what a pleasure Alex was to work with. We genuinely believe we would not have gotten this house without Alex's guidance and expertise. After such a long search, we are incredibly grateful he helped us get across the finish line and into a home we absolutely love. We would recommend Alex without hesitation to anyone looking to buy or sell in Marin, Sonoma, or the surrounding area.

I got the same obnoxious guy as someone else mentioned here in a 2010 review which states:…read more"...fellow was more then rude." I agree with that statement completely. He handed me his business card and said he was Lou La Gatta. He started in 2007 under the name of Marin Realty Group. He apparently has not learned to deal with buyers in a more productive way in the last 14 years since I find myself so annoyed at how I was treated, that I came here to warn others. At any rate, I went to look at a home with him, but he didn't seem to know anything about it. He had to refer to the sellers disclosure paperwork a lot, as if he just got around to reading it for the first time. His attitude changed as soon as he "assumed" I was not going to make a offer and basically told me I needed to leave. Little did he know I was also using this visit, to see if he might be the right agent to help me sell my two properties. If he would have had a better attitude I would have tossed business his way. But this guy lacked basic patience, politeness and showed no interest of knowing things about the home he was supposed to be selling. I felt he was doing this as a hobby and didn't really want to put any real effort into it. My suggestion is look elsewhere for someone who is more of a "people person" who knows their inventory. Lou La Gatta unfortunately chose the wrong business for his personality.

I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel an obligation to share this experience so other…read morefamilies can make informed decisions. My parents, both 86 years old, were long-term tenants. My father has Alzheimer's and reached a point where it was no longer medically safe for him to live independently. Their move to assisted living was not a choice -- it was a medical necessity. Despite extensive communication and documentation explaining these circumstances, the property management response was rigid, transactional, and strikingly lacking in compassion. The situation was treated purely as a contractual inconvenience rather than a human crisis involving cognitive decline and elder care. They also levied a "leasing commission" - $5500! - to re-rent the immaculately kept house that took exactly one day for them to re-rent. What was most distressing was not just the financial posture taken, but the tone: repeated legalistic arguments with no acknowledgment of my father's condition, no empathy for an elderly couple in crisis, and no effort to handle the situation with basic humanity. If you are a tenant who expects empathy, discretion, or flexibility when life takes an unexpected and serious turn, I strongly encourage you to think carefully before working with this property management company.
