We decided to switch the battery in the parking lot, and they let us use a few of their tools to do this. We were also able to not pay the money for the core of the old battery, as we were able to return it right away. There was some corrosion on the old battery and it wasn't coming apart easily. Ellie was very helpful and came out to lend us a hand. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. The next time we need anything for either of our cars we will definitely return here.

Thankfully this happened on a day that we didn't have to work and the car was parked safely in the garage. Hubby thought he identified the issue and checked AutoZone's online inventory. They appeared to have what we needed so he called to confirm. The person that answered the phone said they did not actually have the item in stock. We decided to walk the two mile trip anyway to explore .. there is another auto parts store in close proximity so we were planning to go there as well. The young man we encountered at AutoZone (Josh) was extremely helpful. He helped us understand what we were buying and how the options differed ... he even located the missing inventory item. We really appreciated that Josh was so thorough in our interaction.

I was able to get a friend to come give me a jump so that I could drive to AutoZone to get the battery replaced. I entered the store and saw two employees behind the counter (I believe there was one other customer in the store). I stood at the counter. Neither employee acknowledged my existence and both walked from behind the counter to another part in the store. It's 100% not a big deal if they were in the middle of assisting the other customer/wrapping up another project, but a brief "we'll be right with you" could have fixed this problem. When the gentleman came back to the counter, I described what was needed and he grabbed his kit to test my battery which verified that the battery was bad. He seemed to struggle with finding where to attach the device on my battery. I explained to him that attaching it to any of the metal clamps on the battery would still yield a reading. I bought the battery and he grabbed it and his tools to install it. The installation process felt as poor as my initial experience. The gentleman dropped one of his tools in my engine (again, no problem, mistakes happen), but waited for my brother to start reaching under the car to find where it landed. The battery installation process took a long time. I'm no mechanic, but the experience made me feel that I may have been equally or more qualified to install the battery myself. I don't say that to sound arrogant/condescending - it's just that I understand that in situations like these, people rely on these locations to help them in a pinch. Some customer service 101 and some practice/supervision on the process could have made this whole experience much better. The next time I'm in need of a battery or other quick fix, I cannot say that I would return to this location.

I email Sam on Saturday figuring he answered back during business hours during the week, he called me, and we talked for about 20 minutes, and he asked if he could come over and look at the car to help pick the right path. He showed up on Sunday, spent 2+ hours checking things out and trying things. he recommended I drop the gas tank, get it cleaned and coated and flush the fuel system lines and change the fuel filter. I did that and the car runs great for a 95-year-old car. There is some other work that needs to be done and SAM said he would recommend people if he can't do it. Thanks to Sam, I have a running 1927 Dodge Brothers Fast Four. Honestly, you don't find service like this very much. He treated me as part of the family. I recommend him to everyone I talk to that needs a mechanic, and a few that were not even asking for one. It is so refreshing that Sam talks with you and down to you. I was a mechanic and still play and do some of my own service work. Most mechanics still talk down to me and think that they can BS someone. Not, Sam, he is honest, straightforward forward and a breath of fresh air. He will be my servicer for my 1927 Dodge Brothers Fast Four and other vehicles.

The car has very low miles so I did not think a new clutch was needed but had no idea what else it could be. I took it to the local dealer (twice) and they couldn't ID the issue. The first time they flushed/refilled the hydraulic fluid which was pretty dirty. It helped but didn't cure the problem. The next time, they couldn't find the issue but gave me a $6000 estimate for a new clutch. That seemed way out of line so I went to Ft Mitchell Garage. They ran through all the diagnostics and then multiple people drive the car . Finally on one of the drives, Ron experienced the problem . They ended up simply lubricating the gears. It cost $237 not $6000!

I had heard that these guys were good and honest, and dealing with a car I had no idea about and it had broken down on me that morning so i had to get it towed there,I figured I might as well try them out. They came back, told me what was wrong the next day, told me the total damage then said with the amount I put into the car to begin with, I might not want to put as much money into it, I agreed, they told me they got it running by cleaning parts and doing different things to it which was all included in the original fee for looking at it, and it Is drivable, and running a lot better than it originally was but i know if it happens again I know what the problem is and how much it would be to fix it. It could have gone the other way, they could have told me I would have to spend the 600 to get it running. He called me after hours too, which was appreciated because otherwise I would have had to wait until Monday to hear what the damage was. They really put the customer first, and surprised me fully with their commitment to me. They also run a free shuttle service when you take your car in there, they will take you back to where you need to go.
