The store is fairly small, but they make it up in passion and expertise in coral. They sell some fish, but coral is why you would come here. The clerks offer lots of advice. SJReef in Dublin has been sold. The buyer, Manish, will resume operations under the new name Gio Marine. He is currently remodeling the interior and has exciting plans to feature a much larger stock of salt water fish. He continues to offer RODI water for fresh water aquariums and those customers that prefer to add their own salt mix. He also has premixed salt water for those that prefer that for their reef tanks. I came in a couple of weeks ago just as a looky-loo since I was in the area waiting for my girlfriend. I really just came in to look fish and corals to kill time. I never thought about really owning a saltwater setup just because of the maintenance and upkeep. Then came Mark Jackson. Friendly, knowledgable, and funny as hell - he tells me not to worry and showed me some possible options for a beginning reefer. I went home and brought it up to the gf, and we were back and forth in the shop a few times discussing with Mark on what was right for us and our budget. Come last weekend, he's delivered and set up our Red Sea Max tank upstairs which is currently cycling. He texts to get the status of how it's going and we couldn't be happier. Went in to buy coral. Picked out a ricordea, was told a price, said I would take it. He picked it out put it in a container and then said oh sorry the price is actually different. I actually found out about this shop while looking for coral for sale on Craigslist. Went in to check the shop out and although it's small, they have a great collection and variety in all price ranges. The customer service I got from Mark was above and beyond. He's knowledgeable helpful and patient. Some shops I go in, I feel like I'm bothering them when I ask questions or that they look down on me but not here. Norem is very knowledgeable about corals and their care. He has always provided me with good corals. I remember buying an entire colony of rodhactys and many zoa frags from him, a while ago. I still have them and they are continuing to thrive. His corals are always healthy and top notch. I have friends who also have purchased corals from SJReef at the store or at shows. It clearly states that you were to not only CLEAN the pond, but to SERVICE the filter to include the pump and RESTORE the waterfall. --- NONE of which was done. Would you like me to post a pic of your quote? This is a colossal joke. SJReef did indeed replace the lid that THEY broke - as they should have. Out of his own pocket - Um yes since they broke it. If there are photos to post to prove work and cleaning done, then, by all means, post them as we too would like to see such proof. We're waiting...... In the interim, the proof is in the filthy pond and damaged property left behind. It is convenient to state that the fish were in bad shape after his employee killed two of them and injured another. What are you trying to say Norem? -- that they would've died anyway so...who cares?!?!! Anyone who has a clue about Koi fish knows how hardy they are and that they can live in extreme conditions for years. Your employee put them in a tiny holding pool and traumatized two, killing them, and left another larger one injured - which also may perish. He then threw them back in water that wasn't conditioned, nor cleaned. The pond was left in a filthy condition - NOT cleaned as was quoted. Even after he states that his employee removed so much sludge - made up -- fiction. Then he went on to whine about not being paid AFTER his employee damaged equipment and killed fish AND didn't do the job. He wanted to barter the replacement of the lid his employee broke for removal of this review that still states how the job was not done, the pond and fish damaged/killed. Would you trust your pond or aquatic life to him? read more
