Listen. This should be a five star review. But I have to warn my fellow spice-wimps! THE FOOD FROM SIZZLIN' MASALA IS FIVE STAR BOMB! It is SO good. But if you're like me, and just hella sensitive to spicy foods, you gotta exercise caution with this one. My partner and I got food to go, two loaded burritos (one pakora fish, the other chicken masala), a Naan Chalupa with paneer masala, and a chai horchata! It did take about 30 minutes for it all to come together; but I urge you to remember that 'food truck' means 'mobile' and not 'fast food.' Good things come to those who wait! The Chai Horchata is SO GOOD! Like drinking a gingerbread cookie made especially for you by your grandma. I would go back for that alone. In fact, I regret not getting two because I'd definitely have delighted in not having to share. Swing by for that alone. Now the food? My partner ordered everything mild; which has got to be a relative thing because both burritos and the chalupa had such heat that I couldn't take more than a few bites of any of them before my mouth felt like it was on fire! I wish that I had any sort of tolerance because everything was so flavorful; incredibly flavorful! Just too dang hot for my wimpy tastebuds! After reading other reviews, I expected a super friendly greeting at the truck, but was instead greeted with, "Do ya know what you want?" No warmth, but not rude either. It was what I'd expect in a busy New York deli. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our food, but my son said his chicken masala was a little cold inside of his burrito. He said it was just okay, not bad. My husband said his burrito was mushy and couldn't tell there was chicken in it. He wasn't impressed, and I was surprised after all of the glowing reviews. Fortunately, the samosas were fantastic. They were perfectly crispy outside, seasoned and soft inside, and the green sauce was the best. I'd return just for samosas and sauces. My butter chicken and garlic Naan were also amazing. We ordered two garlic Naans, but I expected more pieces. My husband reminded me that they weren't serving sizes of tortillas. Good point. They were so garlicky and fluffy that you might need two servings for one person. (Maybe it's enough if you order rice too, but we didn't order rice). I just dipped the Naan in the creamy butter sauce. They didn't give me a fork, and we were too lazy to walk back in the rain. I got full from the samosa and garlic Naan and still have butter chicken leftovers. 16 Oz is good for 3-4 small servings. The rich sauce is filling on its own. read more

THE BEST INDIAN FOOD IN MODESTO!! fish pakora is amazing. Chile chicken is so delicious. The butter chicken is perfect. Seriously nothing is bad here. We like to get things family style vs individual (ie: burritos, torta, nachos, etc...) We did try the nachos and the flavors are great but the chips were a little stale. Still excellent flavor but we just prefer to eat everything family style. The torta was very good. You can't go wrong with anything you try here! THIS IS A MUST!!! Wow! I'm actually really impressed! First timer and I was a little hesitant to try Indian Fusion Food outta of a food truck but this why you gotta get out of your comfort zone. I thought it was a little much on the saucy side but at the end, I had leftover naan to where I was able to scoop it up on the bread. Like a little sweet surprise. My bf got the chicken tikka masala burrito and he really liked his. Not spicy at all. I also got the samosa and freaking fiiire man. Perfectly crispy on the outside but nicely seasoned potatoes and peas in the inside. The sauces that come with *chef's kiss* pairs perfectly with the samosas. I was going to Trader Joe's and I noticed this Indian truck off to the side so I stopped to get my daughter something to eat. I was surprised when I seen the menu because it had all kinds of Mexican options. So I asked the guy who was in the truck and he said it was Indian fusion. Indian & Mexican. That the only straight Indian item was the butter chicken or goat curry . My daughter wanted the butter chicken and rice . So I ordered a 16 oz butter chicken and 16 oz basmati rice. He said that was good for 1 person. Butter chicken was $10 and the rice was $6. Pretty pricey. My daughter loved the chicken & rice. I tried a bite and it was very good. I love Indian food and have been looking for a delicious, new place in Modesto. I heard about Sizzlin' Masala through Eatingthe209, so I thought I'd try it. First the is a super interesting concept that I'm not sure I appreciated at first. We got the: Samosas- First these samosas are HUGE. Fresh and stuffed with deliciousness. I could eat 4 as a meal. Though they are so big I probably couldn't finish 4. Chicken Tandoori Quesadilla- holy moly. So good. Perfect cheesiness, no weird chicken pieces and was STUFFED. Beware- it's messy. Butter Chicken- the reason for four stars. This was not good. Like it was missing cream? There was no "umph" to this. Naan-siiiiiigh, so the Naan was packed with cilantro. I HATE cilantro. It doesn't mention cilantro on the menu. My husband said it was great. Fluffy and perfect! We'll be back and will try other items now that we know what to order. Literally the best food in the area. They can make ANY item vegan. And Joe, one of the owners, proved that by making me the first vegan quesadilla he's ever made. With the magical sauces that they use, I promise that you will not even miss the cheese. SO good. Finally gave Sizzlin' Masala a try after driving by numerous times and seeing others post about it. Customer service is exceptional! Had a misunderstanding when ordering and they def made up for it, so that was wonderful! The flavors in all 3 dishes we ordered were very good. I'm honestly not too big of a fan of the seasoning for the masala chicken, but that's just me. The mango lassiwss delicious. My husband, my son and I walk by all the time on our walks in the morning and night so we finally decided to see if they had vegan food. THEY DO. And they know what the means. No "well is cheese okay?" They actually told us they don't recommend a vegan quesadilla because they don't have vegan cheese so it would just be something without cheese. It's so nice when people know what vegan means and accommodate! We tried the vegan burrito and the vegan tacos and they were BOMB. So so so good. When I read "Indian-Mexican fusion" I knew it wouldn't disappoint. The flavors complement so well. We will definitely be back for more. They were also very nice. If you want to stay and eat, there's only one table but we took ours to-go, so there wasn't an issue for us. I guess it might be loud if you choose to eat at the table. Finally tried this truck I bookmarked a while back. Grabbed a loaded burrito with spicy sizzlin sauce (went with chicken masala) and a lamb seekh kebab. The guy taking orders was super friendly, making it a pleasant experience. The burrito was huge with a great mix of rice, beans, cheese, onions, and chicken. The fusion of Mexican and Indian flavors was spot on, although I wished for a tad more spice - the pickled veggies on the side did help. My husband loves spice but I'm a lightweight, and they were very accommodating by putting sauces on the side for us so that we could share the items. Kebab was by far my favorite thing. My husband really loved his burrito, spiced greatly. Samosas were fragrant and dusted in a spice/salt mix that made eating even the crust by itself enjoyable. Garlic naan was fresh fresh. All food was hot and I'm telling you, we were impressed. Definitely a place worth trying and reasonably priced.
