Under new ownership, this neighborhood gem has truly raised the bar. The owners place immense value on food quality, freshness, and hygiene, and it shows in every detail. From the traditional tandoor to the spotless environment, everything reflects care, consistency, and pride in their service. Beyond groceries and fresh vegetables, the food menu is exceptional, offering a perfect balance of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The tandoor selections are a standout--fresh naan, tandoori kulche, chicken tikka, and well-crafted lunch combos, all prepared fresh and bursting with authentic flavor. What makes the experience even better is the courtesy and politeness of the owners, along with their commitment to delivering high-quality service. It's rare to find a place where price, quality, cleanliness, and service come together so seamlessly. I highly recommend everyone give it a try. It's right in our neighborhood, and honestly--you can't complain. Great food, fair pricing, excellent service. A true win. read more

We ordered the daal and our food had what looked like tree bark inside of it. I talked to my boss, who is Punjabi, and he said this isnt common or something they should be putting in the food and that this isnt right. read more

I called ahead for my lunch order but when I arrived I still had to wait 15 minutes. The food is actually really good but the portion is smaller than I was hoping. It's inside a grocery store. Parking is easy. Easy to find. They gave me a plate and spoons too. Very nice workers. I'll give them a second chance for sure. I'll call them 30 minutes before I go pick it up. read more

They make the very BEST homemade samosas and Indian donuts! Two wonderful sauces come with the samosa. The only place I go to stock up on samosas and tahini. Great prices and food. Thank you! read more

The biryani is so flavorful! I have had other Indian food before, but this one went above and beyond to elevate the tasting experience - this one takes the cake. Definitely check this place out, your taste buds will rise to new levels . read more

This review is for the chaat place inside the grocery store. Location- perfect for people traveling via Modesto. 8min walk from the Tesla charging stations on cisk I was here for lunch. It was super quite. 1/10 busy. This place gets a 3 star only for the wait time I had today with no crowd. They should definitely work on it :) When mentioned to the register, he said it's better to order ahead of time- which may make the process a lot easier for anyone looking to have a quick stop. That aside, The bhel poori was good. The paneer paratha was also nice( just a lot of ajwain for my liking). They did offer plain yogurt with the paratha which is awesome! read more

I've been trying to call this restaurant multiple times and no one ever picks up the phone. It's really frustrating when you're trying to place an order or ask a simple question. How do you run a business like this if customers can't even get through to you? Very disappointing read more

Reasonably priced, decent food with decent service. The restaurant is in the back of the grocery store...the food was not the best most delicious food we have eaten, but good enough for the very reasonable pricing. We were hungry and left feeling fully satisfied. Ordered chole bhature and samosa chat. The bhature were nice and fluffy and didn't feel too oily. The samosa lacked flavors but still good enough. The restaurant is self service and has indoor as well as outdoor seating option. It's a hole in the wall type of place so please don't go expecting a nice sit down experience...more like a quick bite indian "dhaba" style. The grocery store is well organized and has plenty of options. The staff was friendly and service was super quick. read more

Really enjoyed my visit here. The dosa was honestly one of the best I've had -- perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The chutneys and sambar tasted fresh, and you can tell they actually care about the food they're serving. The staff was warm and attentive without being pushy, and the place felt clean and comfortable. Definitely coming back for another dosa soon read more

Nice place but terrible food. It seemed like it had been sitting in its container too long before being prepped and everything was cold! And everything had way too many tomatoes and big onions in it. Also my son vomited in the parking lot. Age of food in those containers needs to be closely monitored and they should be cleaned out. My son literally barfed and my stomach was ruined for a few days. We had to go buy pepto bismo. read more

I was going to make butter chicken so I need some ingredients that you can find at a Indian Grocery store. This is a small family owned & ran business. Grocery store is in the front & they have a little counter in the back where you can get vegetarian Indian food. As soon as I entered I was greeted by Abhi. Him and his mom was there running the business. He was helping people in the store & his mom was in the back cooking. He was very nice! He answered all my questions and even helped me shop . He walked me around and showed me what to get . And explained about the different food items. He said he was a vegetarian so the food they cook at the store is vegetarian street food. They have a great selection of groceries & spices. They even have pre made sauces for when you don't want to cook & have a quick meal. read more

Great service!! Masala Dosa and Mango Lassi was the best I've ever had! The ambiance felt like I was really in India!

I'm so thrilled to have found this wonderful grocery store! They had everything I needed and such a great selection. The restaurant also has fantastic offerings with very fair prices. I couldn't resist the Masala Dosa! So crispy and delicious. Yumm! Everyone here was so nice, too. Very wonderful service. I'll be back for certain. :) read more

Great gem in Modesto! We love their little cafe in the back of the store. We ordered pakora, pani puri, samosas, some naan and 2 curry daily combo. Everything was great! This is not watered down Indian food. If you want heat, you can ask for the heat. First off, this was some of the best tamarind water we've had with our pani puri. The pani puri tasted great. The only suggestion we had was to chop or puree the potatoes some more. The chunks were a tad too big to fit into the puri shells. Samosas were huge and crispy. Loaded with veggies. Pakora was flavor and crispy. A+ on the chutney too. We picked the pea and cheese curry for our curry daily combo. Both excellent. The roti was more tortilla like. The garlic naan was more on the fluffy soft side. Overall, food was great and service was great from the staff. Everything was well packed and presented well. FYI, call ahead as all the food is made to order to reduce your wait time. They also take Apple/Google Pay if you do not want to touch money during these covid times. read more

I only came here because they had pani puri. it was okay. very bland, it wasn't smush like I thought it would be. not enough onion or coriander. but overall ill order it again. just for a fix. they can do better on the pani puri filling. read more

Poor food quality , the food served tasted horrible, probably the food was cooked way before and preheated and served, tried mentioning the food tasted bad, but all the staff members insisted it's how it's supposed to taste and it's not stale:( , n I'm not a newbie so just smiled, paid the bill n walked away forever. For their taste n importantly the quality of food served I would not recommend this place for any food. read more

I have eaten her several times and it's always so yummy. The puri is delicious! That's what I had tonight. It's street food so it's fun stuff you wouldn't necessarily find at an actual restaurant. read more

Very nice selection of spices, frozen goods, rice variety, and prepared foods. Prices are decent on most items. I'll definitely be back for more items! read more

First thought when you walk in here... It's so big! Immediate second thought when you walk in here... It's so clean! Large aisles. All your dals, rice, flour, spices, ghee, chai, sweets...they have everything. A whole wall of refrigerated/frozen goods. Indian jewelry. DVD's. And delicious chaat. It's all here. The protocol for ordering food is ordering at the front counter, w the cashier, & not at the back counter w the kitchen. The cashier that took care of us was a complete doll. My mom ordered the samosa chaat ($3.99) to go. I can tell you that the aroma it filled the car with was just amazing. I seriously questioned my choice to pass & eat something else at home. The samosas are huge. Since it was a to-go order, they appropriately put the chaat in a separate container on the side so as to avoid leaving us w a soggy mess by the time we got home. You're to pour the chaat over the samosas, & feast away. It was delicious! Absolutely loaded w flavors. Robust, complex, some heat, & a touch of sweetness. I'm picky, but my mom is even worse. She's known in my family for her stellar Indian cooking. She gave these guys the thumbs up. So do I. 5 stars. read more

Tasty, spicy Indian food. Enjoyed the authentic food after so long. Frankly didn't have much expectations but thoroughly enjoyed each and every item. Had ordered aloo paratha, mix veg and mooli paratha, one thali and tea. Each and every thing was flavorful. Paratha are huge and come with dollop of butter and masala yogurt. Will definitely visit again to try other items and recommend to try once. read more

This review is solely based on the restaurant/cafe inside the grocery store! First off no signs or even the name on the outside of the building, just the initials I.G.C. We went here at around 2pm on the weekend expecting food to be fresh and delicious but boy were we wrong! Once we entered, the store is small and has majority snacks and very little actual grocery or fresh produce(counted about 6 items in produce and all looked old). Once we got to the restaurant in the back we ordered some snacks: 1 order of paani puri, 1 order of sev papdi chaat, and 1 order of dahi papdi chaat. Our order was ready in about 5 mins as we walked through the store. We immediately paid and sat down at the picnic tables outside the store to eat the food so the chaat does not get soggy. Paani Puri- order came with 8 pieces out of a container of haldiram not fresh puri's. And a very small container of (UNSEASONED) boiled potatoes and chick peas. When I say small I mean the container the Taquerias use to give you free salsa with chips. The paani was in a large container and was pinkish/redish in color. No spice or seasoning in that as well. Just sweet water with small hint of chaat masala. Overall major fail on all aspects of the dish. Sev Papdi chaat and Dahi papdi chaat- both items were identical and the only difference was a small portion of dahi(yogurt) on one dish. Both used the same watered down sauce and same stale out of the box papdi. Both were topped off with a pico de gallo like mixture with raw tomatoes, onions, and a crap load of raw garlic!!!!!! Both were topped with again a spoonful of Haldirams sev fresh out of a bag from the shelf that was made in probably 2015. We both took a bite of each and immediately threw it in the trash! We were not able to eat more than a bite of each dish and well $17 dollar down the drain or in this case the trash can. I went here based on the reviews from Yelp, but something obviously has changed, customer service was nice but never nice enough to justify buying food to throw immediately in the trash. AVOID!!!!!!!! read more

Nice selection of groceries, had what I needed and prices were reasonable. Nice to have what we need to make Indian cuisine close to home.

There paranthas are the best the potato one and you can chose the spice level absolutely delicious

Cleanest Indian restaurant/grocery store I've been to in the valley. I really appreciate how organized and clean this place is. 2 bathrooms available and both clean as well. Staff is always very polite and helpful. There was a customer who was on his way out who was being rude to the staff and they were quite gracious to him despite his tone. So glad he was on his way out. I applaud the staff for being on top of their game consistently. I never experience lack of customer service, cleanliness, organization or flavor when I come to this restaurant/grocery store. Having the to-go samosas now and I love that BOTH chutneys are delicious. In other restaurants I've been to, the green chutney always lacks in flavor and freshness. Had the cholay baturey, aloo tikki Chaat, dosa, milkcake, chocolate burfi, gajrela, mango lassi today. On point on point. read more

I usually go to IGC for their freshly-made Indian food dishes. The store is family-owned with friendly, excellent service. Prices are very reasonable and the lunch menu items change daily. I especially like to get gobi paratha (stuffed bread), a lunch special with 2 menu items like palak paneer or aloo gobi, and samosa. The fresh desserts are great, too! read more

I can't understand all the 5 star reviews! Something smells fishy to me. Stopped by to try the place because of all the "wonderful reviews". Boy were they wrong! First of all the customer service was lacking because of the language barrier. Even though the person who took the order spoke English, she didn't comprehend what I was asking. I had to ask for ice three separate times before she finally understood. I asked if the rice came with the meal and she said yes, but then proceeded to charge me for a side of rice. I don't mind paying for rice, but the point is that she didn't understand what I asked. They weren't rude, but then again, they weren't overly friendly either. The food was not delicious like everyone claims. It was mediocre at best. The naan was greasy and did not look fresh. The buttered chicken I asked for no cilantro twice and yet it came with cilantro on top. This again was probably due to the language barrier. The buttered chicken did not have many pieces of chicken, it was mostly just sauce. I would not return here, nor would I recommend anyone else to dine here. read more

This is an Indian grocery store with a chaat corner in the back of the store. We went on an off day (Christmas actually) and they were understaffed. The lady behind the counter was polite and was doing her best to manage the customers. The food was A-OK. The Chola bhatura was actually good and the Tikki Channa. The Gobi Manchurian and Fried rice was just passable. read more
