NEVER RENT FROM SIXT!!!!!!! I was on holiday in Marseille when I missed my train to Paris for my flight the next morning.. without any other option I rented a vehicle from SIXT and drove 7hrs to avoid the hassle of rescheduling flights. I drove extremely safe, with no incident, no issues with the vehicle throughout the entire experience. A few weeks later once I was back home in California I received an email stating that they would be charging my card an additional 650 EUR (which was around the same price as the total rental fee) for alleged damages. I've tried to call countless times and they either don't pick up, or put me on hold until I'm forced to hang up. I took pictures of the car before and after- zero damages! I've requested a damages report so I can even understand what I'm being charged for and they ignore all communications. Zero report, no evidence provided, just an invoice. The whole thing seems very exploitive and deceitful.. very frustrated and will absolutely never give them my business again. I highly recommend using any other travel agency!! 0/10 stars. I returned my car to SIXT at Paris Orly Airport on time, in good condition, and was told at pickup that any damages would be handled immediately at drop-off. Days later, I received a notice of a "new" scratch on the rear door that wasn't mentioned by any staff and was supposedly caught by an automated system--after the car had already left my custody. This isn't the first time this has happened with SIXT. A similar issue occurred previously and was dropped after I pushed back. It's starting to feel like a pattern of manufactured damage claims used to charge unsuspecting travelers after the fact. Fortunately, I'm covered by Chase Sapphire insurance, but no one should have to go through this hassle for something that wasn't their fault. Avoid at all cost ! They lie about the car's return time. I was 51 minutes late, was charged another 24 hours. If you get a parking ticket during rental, they will add their own 39 € for "administrative services ". They employ pressure tactics to get you to pay for their outrageous insurance premiums. This all happened to me after having booked (and paid for) four rentals over a 5 month period. Just imagine how they might treat a less faithful customer. Best quality cars around. However, my train into AIX TGV station was delayed by an hour or two, and Sixt had given away the car I reserved. They did eventually get me into a car, but it sure wasn't worth the hassle and stress. Return service was an even worse experience: positively, dreadful, in fact. There was no clear indication of where to leave the car; no parking area attendants to help, etc. When I finally made my way to the Sixt desk in the station, they told me not to worry, everything was fine. Six weeks later I receive an email from Sixt noting damage to the car. The photos they eventually sent at my request were time stamped well after the return and appeared to be of a different car entirely. Even then I couldn't see any damage. To date, there has been no resolution. Suffice it to say, I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN. Frankly, it feels like a scam, and upon reading reviews it appears there's been at least one class action suit against them for precisely this sort of fraudulent activity. I rented a car from SIXT in Bordeaux for 3 days. When I returned the car, before flying out, they told me to just leave the keys as the only staff member was helping someone else (big mistake on my end!). A few days later I received an email saying that upon review they found a 10cm scratch on the rear bumper, one that I am pretty sure I did not cause but sadly have no way to prove since I did not take pictures when dropping off the car. The infuriating part though is that from the pictures SIXT sent me you can tell it's an incredibly superficial "damage" and there is no way anyone in their right mind would charge 414 euros for, which they are of course doing. It's clear that they don't have an interest in maintaining a loyal customer pool and are simply out to get you. I would STAY AWAY from Sixt. Plenty of other car rental companies around! read more

Arrived in Frankfurt, Germany and Sixt did not have the car we reserved. Instead of upgrading, they tried to push a downgrade as a no cost solution. We needed a 4-door w space for luggage, but they gave us a 2 door. Eventually (two hours later) they got us into a similar size car, but they had started my reservation from the time I got there. I tried to adjust it to return at the same time that I actually received my car, but then tried to charge me more to extend it the two hours that they wasted of my vacation. So while in France we thought it'd be nice to be able to carry us and some of the in-laws all in one car. So we reserved what the French consider an enormous car, a seven passenger van. We land in the freezing rain and I hustle out to get the car. A stick!! This is one of the richer nations of the world. It's also a nation where rain, and snow and ice are common. And this is a van! About the homeliest vehicle on the planet. But we're in France and I guess even homely drivin', slippin', slidin' renters want to shift their own gears. OK I can use the practice. We head out of our first long trek and it's time for gas. Hmmm. Nothing on the fuel gauge, nothing on the key fob, nothing on either side of the fuel door, no gas cap at all, no insignia on the rear that means anything. Guess it's unleaded. Wrong guess. An hour down the road we stop to pee and the car won't start. It's freezing cold, the wind is blowing and it's an hour before dark. Tow truck guy confirms nonchalantly, "It's Diesel". Wonderful! Now it's a tow truck to his shop, half a dozen frantic calls to the rental agency, nearby hotels, train stations and taxis. Then a taxi ride to the hotel, a quick night's sleep, inconvenience my nephew for a 45 minute drive the wrong direction to pick up a replacement car to drive another 4 hours to our original destination. We got it figured out and Sixt got us a new car but it would have saved them damage to their vehicle and would have saved us an extraordinary amount of time and aggravation if they had just put a "Diesel" sticker on the car. read more

As an inducement to getting the expensive insurance package the agent said he would waive the extra driver charge. We did not receive the agtreement until after we drove off with the car. Upon returning the vehicle there was a charge for the extra driver. Sixt's response? Too bad so sad the contract is concluded, nothing can be done. DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT FRANCE! I used sixt for a trip in France. There was debris on a paid highway that damaged my tire. After standing on the side of the highway for an hour and a half on the phone with sixt, a highway service vehicle pulled over to help. They told me that as the damage was a result of the highway not being clear, the company would pay for the damage. My husband and I (on his birthday no less) were picked up by a tow truck (which we had to pay for) and taken to a garage in a small town. We spent six hours in this garage, unable to get ahold of Sixt or getting passed back and forth. Just as the garage closed for the day sixt got ahold of us and said there was another car available. We had to pay for a taxi to the other town to get the car. Now, Sixt has been saying that we're liable for the damage to the vehicle. We have explained the situation numerous times and sent the documentation we have, but they sent us to a collection agency which is now saying they will take us to court. Be VERY careful because if you have any other car insurance - particularly through your credit card company, your purchasing of Sixt rental coverage will make your other car insurance null and void on your rental. I booked a rental car for Paris-CDG from SIXT using the cheaptickets.com website. When I got to Paris -- for a funeral -- SIXT had no record of my reservation. I spent two hours at the counter and on the phone, back and forth between SIXT and cheaptickets with neither side budging. I had no choice but to take a car via a same-day reservation, which cost several hundred Euros more than my original booking. After I got home, I wrote to both SIXT and cheaptickets. Each blamed the other, and said they were not responsible for the error. In my view SIXT was to blame, since cheaptickets issued a reservation number that conforms to the SIXT numbering system, but SIXT couldn't find it in their computer. In any event, I have taken this as far as I can, and neither cheaptickets nor SIXT will concede any responsibilty, and so I am out a couple of hundred Euros, plus the stress and anxiety of nearly missing a funeral. All I can do is spread the word on social media, and stop using either SIXT or cheaptickets.com, since there are so many other options. read more

Wrong. The license was not the problem as my wife would have come with hers. I used your app and uploaded my valid drivers license. When I realized I lost it, after making the reservation, I told them I would have my wife meet me at the location in St Germaine. When I arrived in St Germaine the abhorrently rude employee refused to honor my existing reservation, insisted on an upgraded vehicle (which would have been fine but it had a $900 deposit). They would not use my already paid reservation fees of $200 to apply to the $50/day upgraded vehicle and wanted to charge triple the deposit. In other words my $200 2-day rental which was prepaid, now would charge my card an additional $300 for 2-day rental plus $900 deposit. Therefore a 2-day $200 prepaid rental became $1,300 - $1,100 for the new rental agreement and no refund on the prior $200 prepaid. So i'd be out $1,300 to rent a car for 2 days. I arrived at the St Germaine location prior to my wife to make sure not to waste her time, and I was right. Your agent said he'd refund the $200 prior if we rented the upgrade, but when we called "The Big Boss" (as he called him) they told me over the phone it would not be refunded even if we rented the upgrade. I told your agent I would not waste my wife's or my time with SIXT any further and he said he'd make sure my original $200 was refunded. I don't care about the money - I care about the principle behind your miserable service and staff. Yes. My physical license was misplaced in Paris after I made the reservation on your app. No that was NOT the reason we did not rent from you. You did not honor the original reservation, I agreed to an upgrade and you did not offer to refund or utilize the original $ and then the upgrade came with a $900 deposit when the original came with only a $300 deposit. You are crooks and you're ripping off your clients. Period. There was a simple solution: I went to Avis and had a great experience, an upgraded car, no surprise fees and no deposit. Worst car rental experience ever!!! I used the night key drop, after the close of business, and then realized that we left a $1,000 camera inside the car. So, I called the next morning to the Customer Service line in France for Sixt, and let the agent know what had happened and that I would go by and pick up the camera from the vehicle. This was prior to the branch even opening for the day, and the car had obviously not been checked back in (or rented back out) because the location had not been open again since I returned the car. She assured she sent a message to the branch so that they could get my camera for me. I showed up to the location to pick up my camera and the staff acted like they knew nothing about the camera. They were definitely not as friendly as they were when trying to get me into a rental that was 3x the original cost of what I reserved, the day prior! They did not have my camera, and said that the car was completly cleaned out and re-rented out, so that it would have been stolen by someone that works there. They were useless, completely unhelpful, rude, and are thieves. I would NOT rent from this location or any other of their locations. It was my fault for leaving the camera inside the car. But, by calling the next morning PRIOR to the office opening, and before the car went back out, you would think that I would have been able to get my camera back out of the car. Nope! And, no one will respond to my emails or phone calls for assistance in tracking down the camera and who stole it from the vehicle that morning. Pire voiture location expérience jamais!!! Ils étaient inutiles, complètement inutile, rude et sont des voleurs. Je ne serait pas louer de cet emplacement ou toute autre de leurs emplacements. C'était ma faute pour laisser la caméra à l'intérieur de la voiture. Terrible experience. Never had problems renting a car, except for this time in France / Nantes Airport. They assured me that the fuel pump would be open at the parking and it was not, so I had to leave the car half tank to get to airplane in time (it was strike in France..). I immediately submitted the case and asked to avoid being charged twice the price !! (3€ / liter) plus a 12€ service fee. Also I asked for an invoice for my company from EU / Portugal that is under the intra community VAT exemption, and NO the accountant says it is not possible. Ordered a transfer to the airport a few weeks ago when I was in Paris, driver was 15 mins late, car was dirty, spoke absolutely no English couldn't communicate at all. He sped the whole way to the airport tried to drop us at the wrong terminal, again tried to communicate this was the wrong terminal then he ends up dropping us off at arriving flights not departing! So I get a email from eKomi wanting a review from sixt my driver, so I give my negative review, an hour later my credit card is charged more money for a fare I didn't order! So now they are trying to steal more money from me and I have to deal with fraud in my credit card! Hired a car through Hotwire for Sixt When we got to the counter firstly the car I hired was not available, go figure when your tired and have 2 cranky kids what do you do, so I had to pay an extra 5 euros a day for a different car that I got quoted. Second didn't notice until I got back a charge of 92 euros for location again not on my original booking and as my rental was only 108 euros for 5 days this ended up being double to what I booked through hot wire. So a total of 440 Canadian... without fuel... rip of .com I have tried emailing them but they are not responding. Never will I use them again read more

The Sixt is very horrible!!! This is the worst experience we have ever had!!! They are really not reliable!!! The car broke down on the highway on our way to the airport at midnight 1 am. The car cannot be started. We did not know there was a big issue with the car that it can cause us to fail to start the car until we call the road service after it broke down. And the staff of the Sixt did not tell us anything about this. We called Sixt, they did not allow us to leave until someone towed away the car and they promised us that we can leave by 5 am and so we can arrive at the airport on time to catch our flight. However, they spent more than 7 hours to deal with this. We were in cold winter on the highway without AC for more than 7 hours! Finally, I, my wife, and my parents, all of us missed our international flights. We had to spent extra $2,000 on booking new tickets and the hotel. We contact with the service department in France after we back to U.S., the Sixt refused to provide us any compensation and did not give us any chance to negotiate. They found many excuses to shirk their responsibility. It is really unfair to ask their customers to pay for their mistakes. I ordered a car service a month prior to my arrival at ORLY airport in Paris, but the second my bags came off the carousel, this AWFUL company decided it would be ok to cancel as I received a cancellation email at exactly that moment. When I then called the company, they were so disrespectful and rude and said that they wouldn't send another car and driver to pick my family and I up. I had also confirmed the booking both 24 hours and again just 2 hours prior to the scheduled pick up. This was an evening arrival and during the December '19 Paris strike, so I really needed a car service. I also had pre paid, so they fully scammed me. To say their actions were disgusting is an understatement. Never use SIXT because they are unreliable and disrespectful company who scam people and leave them stranded at an airport. read more

We've booked and rented a car from SIXT in Paris Montparnasse from rentalcars.com and it was the worst experience ever. We've choosen the pick up time for 14h30, we have arrived on time and the car was not ready. The girl said we've booked for 15h30, that's why it wasn't ready, but we checked our reservation in the e-mail and it was really at 14h30 the pick up time. While waiting for the car to be ready the girl who atended us told that she couldn't accept my boyfriend's greek driver's license, even if it was written DRIVER's LICENSE outside, in many languages, including french. She told that they could only accept international driving licenses and at the same time two brazilians got inside the office. I asked if they have an international driving license and they didn't, and they were returning the car they rented for one week, with theier brazilian's driver's license. I asked the girl how could they have different rules for different customers and she pretended she didn't listen. The girl said the only way to get the car was to change the reservation name for my name, because I am brazilian and she could read my driver's license. She tried to do it in the system without success. She then called rentalcars.com for help, and they said they couldn't make this change, so we asked for refund, once they were decided not to give us the car. They said they woudn't refund our 425 euros and couldn't give us the car as well. We stayed more then three hours in phone calls to rentalcars.com that is based in Poland and trying to show the girl she was not fair with us. In the meantime I've called my lawyer in Brazil and he gave me some steps on how to proceed in this situation. My boyfriend told that if they didn't give us the car he would make a big claim through the biggest shiping company in Greece. When I was in Paris in September, I rented a car from Sixt at the Gare de Lyon station. After I booked the reservation, I realized that I had entered the wrong date by one day and called Sixt immediately. They had no cars available on the day that I wanted to rent the car. I asked the agent whether I could cancel the reservation and he said that I could, so I did. Sixt charged me a cancellation fee. Sixt is absolutely the worst rental car company I've ever rented from anywhere in the world, including the low budget places in the US, Canada, Costa Rica and other places in France. They upsold me the the LDW, promising that it would cover "all loss and damage." When I got a small rock chip on the windshield, they demanded over 500 euros, and promised to sue if I didn't pay. We chose Sixt for our trip between Paris and Marseille as they appeared to have the best rates available. That's where the problems started. When we went to pick up the car we were immediately met with a rude customer rep who started adding on extras which we had not selected. As we had booked online we had paid a reservation fee upfront which allowed for us to leave the car at a different location with no extra cost. This however, was added on at pick up plus what we had already paid. That's when other costs, that we had not chosen, started being added on unnecessarily. It all culminated with an exorbitant bill for the cost of wheel repairs for what turned out to be a scuffed tyre. Reserved a 7 passenger van for 5 of us to pickup at cdg airport, figured we'd need the space for luggage. Got to check in counter and were told vehicle is in other terminal, they'll send someone to fetch. Waited 90 minutes for this to happen! Only after inquiring twice as to what's taking so long she gives us 25€ discount, 25€! really? on a 1200€ transaction. LOL, our time is worth much more that a measly 5€/hr. Meanwhile as we were waiting saw at least 2 other vehicles in lot that were identical to what we ended up with. Couldn't have given us one of those? Ok, we finally have car, it hasn't been cleaned, passenger side visor is missing. In fact many cars in lot are scratched and dinged up, I guess maintenance standards are not as meticulous here. When I went to collect the car the person behind the counter said the rent is paid by the insurance and the contract is for 7 days and after that on daily basis, he knew it will be much longer than 7 days, but there is 200 euros for removal of insurance excess if you want but he never said there will be more for extra days and I thought that will be for all the time the car is with me, He pre-authorised my card for 200 + 500 euros for insurance and return of the car. The contract was extended by the insurance and I assumed that if there is any extras they will contact me because I am not the one in contact with them and they have my email address. The car was returned without any issues and I thought we will only be charged 200 euros which was agreed for. They charged me excess insurance of 16.66 euros for everyday plus another 5.41euros for tyre and windscreen insurance which he never mentioned to me at any time plus taxes, the charges become 553.68 euros which is an enormous amount to pay for 20 days it costs much less to insure a car for a whole year. I contacted them and explained how many times you have to remove the insurance excess when the car is with one person and no accident occurred, I was told because the contract was extended there will be more charges I didn't extend the contract and I should have been told about all this, but they don't listen or care they have charged my account for a lot of money that they never told me about and this is fraud in any one's language. I emailed him to say why wasn't I told for all these extra charges he said it isn't his responsibility to tell me? Well whose responsibility it is then when they are the ones adding all these charges to my account without asking me. I wouldn't have agreed, it is a lot of money that left my account overdrawn. I will never get near them I rather walk or go on the public transport, they are uncooperative and unconcerned about the customers and all the charges which are nearly as much as renting another car for 2 weeks. How can anyone charge so much for insurance it is a rip off no matter how you look at it. They have ruined the memories of our holidays because all what we think about now is them and their dishonesty it is a very bad experience. I read more

Rented a vehicle from Sixt in France and drove it for four days. Returned it to the recommended Paris drop-off but no attendant was there, even though normal business hours. Inspected the car carefully, parked it in a Sixt stall, and used the facility key drop. Received an emil a month later that said the car had a 4cm (very small) scratch on the rear bumper and it would cost $760 to repair. My insurance provider paid it, but only after several months of communication by me with Sixt, their lawyers, and my insurance provider. My insurance provider was not happy with this obvious rip-off and told me that this had happened to them before with Sixt. Avoid this company. read more

We rented a car from Sixt from their location at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport in France. They upgraded us at no additional charge to a brand new BMW with navigation system built in. We loved the car, we loved the service from ease of check in to return of the car everything was perfection. We also used Sixt in Ireland picking up at Dublin Airport. They upgraded us to a BMW again, almost brand new and a fabulous car. Trouble free check in, great return absolutely no problems. I am a true fan of Sixt and will try to use them for all my car rentals in the future. read more
