There are lots of bad Yelp reviews here but the young lady made my issues very minimal by explaining I needed full coverage, including car breakdown, and to reduce my headaches, I had to purchase the toll road reader, allowing me free passage through all tolls on the highways in Italy. It will not be cheap but why fly to Italy if you want to do this the cheap way? I am paying for peace of mind when you travel outside the States and want to reduce your risk of liability when you leave.

They would not rent me my reserved car and will not issue a refund for my deposit because I didn't have a temporary international permit even though I already had everything to drive there. We waited for 2 hours at Napoli airport and then they brought a car that was too small for our luggage and had no child seat in it. We requested ahead of time for both of those requirements. When we reminded them of our request they said they would find another car. After waiting 45 more minutes they brought us a car that was dirty and had a sensor light on for tire pressure. When we pointed that out they said the tires were fine, but that the sensor light wouldn't turn off even though the pressure was correct. We drove the car reluctantly, but trusted the service crew. That night we drove to Amalfi town with 4 adults and a baby in the car. We came back to Sorrento after dinner in Amalfi. In the morning, we were going to visit Mola di Bari, but noticed the left front tire was flat. We called the company and they sent someone who towed the car instead of just fixing the flat tire. When we complained, the company representative told us our only option would be that we'd need to go to Naples in order to get another car but they couldn't guarantee that there would be a car available. This would have been a grave inconvenience as we had no car to get there and we had plans in Mola di Bari that we would miss. The representative knew we were going to be driving on the Amalfi coast. The roads there are treacherous and we could have been killed if the tire would have flattened then. We are going to report this to everyone that we know. And if I find a governing body here, I will be letting them know too. Shame on your company for risking our lives. My husband can drive a stick, but hasn't done so in years and didn't feel like "practicing" on the chaotic roads of Naples so we decided to rent an automatic. If you do find an automatic rental car, you'll be paying almost double the regular daily rental rate, but we didn't mind paying more money to feel more comfortable behind the wheel while driving in an unknown area. Keep in mind that the rental cars in Europe are a lot smaller than the cars in America. We rented a car that was supposed to hold 5 adults and 2 suitcases. When we received our car we realized our suitcases were way too big and we were only going to be able to fit one suitcase in the trunk and two suitcases would have to go in the backseat. We tried to upgrade to a larger car or SUV, but there weren't any larger vehicles available to rent so my sister got stuck riding in the backseat with two of our suitcases. Service wasn't the friendliest, but I guess that is to be expected at a rental car agency. I'd probably rent through another car rental service next time we are in Naples, but Dollar Car Rental got the job done "good enough".

I had booked the car through Expedia, verified there would be no issues with my US Driver's License and pre-paid for the rental. When I arrived, your location was very busy, did not appear to have many vehicles and would not rent to me due to my US Drivers License. The requirement you conveyed to Expedia, which I read prior to my rental said an International Drivers license would be required if my drivers license did not use roman alphabet. My US Driver's License does us roman alphabet but you would still not rent to me. I was on with Expedia's help team for over 90 minutes trying to resolve the issue but your desk agents would not rent to me. I spoke to representatives at several other car rental brands and they did not require a international drivers license from someone with a US license. I went back to your agents twice and no one would help me. I believe the real reason you would not rent to me is that either you did not have the class vehicle that I reserved or that the location was choosing to rent to higher rate customers instead of me with a low internet rate. After more than 2 hours, during my honeymoon, I finally found another car rental company that charged more than 3 times the original reservation rate. I had no choice by to book that or add on 8 hours to arrive to my destination and rely on busses the rent of my trip. A few days later, I found another car that was more reasonably priced so I had to drive from Ravello back to Naples to exchange the vehicles. That round trip took almost 3 hours, plus extra gas, tolls, and time away from our plans. Picking up the final car from Sixt, still cost me more than what my original reservation with you. I believed that you owe me the difference in the cost of the rentals, plus 10 Euro for fuel, tolls on the Auto Strada X2, and my lost time during my honeymoon which was supposed to be a nice and relaxing trip. The amount quoted on line when we booked ( with cover) was AUD 1400 for 6 days. This became 2900AUD at the desk. They pushed us to take extra cover and pay for Tolls ( when we didn't need this cover) We then had to battle with around 60 other tourists in 35 degrees with luggage to get on a bus that seated 12!! The worst thing that happened to us was we returned to the car at 9pm and couldn't open the door , the battery on the keys had died. We rang the breakdown number given on the set of keys and no one picked up. We tried numerous numbers and nothing until we got through to someone who couldn't speak English ! We ended up stranded on the side of the road for over 2 hrs before we got through. We have complained to global but they have written after 7 weeks to say they will do nothing !! This company does not care for its customers and put us at risk during the rental which cost exorbitant amounts. Last time Avis will get my custom.
