When you step inside, you'll see their jewelry case with all genuine metal, hypoallergenic pieces that you can leave in forever. They have a range of options, including gold, diamond, and cubic zirconia. A friendly lady at the front will guide you through all the jewelry options. I chose this place because of its cute, dainty jewelry, which is perfect if you like smaller pieces. The process is straightforward: you pay separately for the piercing and the jewelry. The piercing itself is $60, and you'll need to buy the stud or back piece, which costs an additional $18. The jewelry ranges from $85 and up. My final cost was around $300 for a genuine gold piece with a real diamond. The studio was clean, and the piercer was incredibly knowledgeable, laid-back, and easy to talk to. I made an appointment for a Saturday at 12:30, but ended up having to take my 4 year old daughter to the emergency room. I noticed a charge on my credit card at 12pm (before my appointment) for $60 cancel fee, which the website says the fee is $20-$60 cancel fee. I am not sure why I was charged the full amount since they didn't know what I was getting done. I called to cancel my appointment and the woman who answered did her job and gave me the whole explanation of if she makes an exception for me then she has to for everyone, etc. She ended up criticizing me for yelling at her from the beginning of the call, which I wasn't doing, I was talking over my child crying in the background. I do believe that in certain cases they should make an exception or at least put a credit into my account for another appointment. I also think that they should not be charging credit card before the appointment even occurred. Finally, I ended up talking to a man and he was very nice and cleared up everything. While I won't be visiting this place ever again, I am thankful that whoever took over the conversation had the authority to take care of my issue. Everyone is professional, the showroom/piercing rooms are pristine, and the jewelry is high-quality and gorgeous. I've had both piercings done at sixsixteen and jewelry changes. It is a quality place with excellent customer service. Very knowledgeable about piercings and willing to answer questions. I would just be aware that they are a luxury piercing establishment, so the selection is smaller than most piercing places and it might be more than you'd expect to spend on alternative jewelry. so whenever I have gone I expect to drop a couple bills. I had been told for years that getting my septum pierced would be the most painful I could ever get. When I shared that with Nick (the owner) he responded with "Did any of your friends come to me? They must not have, because your septum is supposed to be the least painful out of all piercings. It's not supposed to hurt". His response wasn't arrogance or cocky, it was sheer confidence in his artistry and I will tell you friends, that piercing did not hurt ONE BIT. Their staff was so helpful and patient with me as it took a lot of time for me to pick my jewelry, but in the end I left with a piercing I don't ever want to take out. This place is wonderful. I wanted a triangle genital piercing, and as a trans man, getting any sort of intimate piercing is like walking on landmines. I've had a really crummy experience back in Ohio last time I tried. Nick was super affirming, checked in for pronouns and terminology I'd prefer, and didn't make me feel weird at all about being junk out. (Also locked the door so no random bystanders may accidentally wander in, phew.) He checked my anatomy using the q tip tests, chatted with me about any pros and cons, and clearly explained the procedure and everything. He definitely did his research even though he let me know he wasn't super experienced with doing triangles, specifically. They didn't have the best size jewelry for my anatomy, so he's ordering a better size for me, and I'll post a follow up review when I get pierced after the jewelry comes in. :) I trust Nick with this, absolutely! read more

Save yourself several hundred dollars and go to Claire's I cheated on my favorite body piercing shop (Hot Rod), thinking I'd have the same great experience elsewhere for a simple second lobe piercing. I was so wrong. The Good The location is great and accessible by bus, right on butler street. The online appointment scheduling is simple to use and gives ample time for services. There is a lot of truly unique jewelry to choose from. The jewelry is sterilized in an autoclave before insertion. The Bad If you're looking for simple jewelry, they won't have it. The consultation is a joke. I couldn't choose the gauge of the piercing (wanted 14/16, but could only choose 18). I couldn't choose the type of jewelry (wanted a hoop), got a strange stud. They will tell you to schedule a downsize appointment one month after your session, then when you show up to that appointment, they tell you that you didn't need to. - what a waste of time. The Ugly The post was so short that several times the backing slid INTO my hole and was stuck INSIDE my ear lobe. The jewelry is a flat backing attached to a small tube, with a tiny crystal on a stick that slides into the tube. I still have one of the lobe piercings because I cannot remove the jewelry. The other one was accidentally ripped through my ear upon removal. The piercers are big smokers so EVERYTHING reeks of cigarette smoke. Be prepared to hear about how wonderful they are for being vegan, while reeking of ashtrays. Next time you are in the area, catch the 93 to Oakland and go to Hot Rod instead, your body and wallet will be better appreciated. read more

I couldn't be happier about my experience here! After years of personal debate, I finally took the leap to pierce my nostril. I was looking for a quality shop who would be transparent about the whole process. I found SIX16 by searching on Yelp, and was able to do a ton of research on them by looking at their website & their Instagram. Their website is very detailed and straightforward, and I love that they post the prices & book appointments straight from there. I was able to book my appointment easily, with the choice of either piercer, and they emailed @ texted me a confirmation right after & also on the day of to remind me (though how could I forget! I was nervous!). The shop is compact, it's decorated beautifully & there's large jewelry cases to browse while you're waiting. The two employees up front were very friendly and helpful in assisting me with what nosestud to start out with. Their jewelry is all "real", top quality, and very beautiful & trendy. They have everything from large statement pieces to charming little studs. My piercer was Nick & he was excellent! The room I was in was spotless and comfortable. I told Nick that this is my first body piercing and asked what exactly I should do to clean, maintain, and monitor my piercing for any change, and when to come back for a follow-up. He was very thorough & said I could stop by anytime I was around if I had any questions or needed someone to take a quick look. They make a point to show you the sterilization process of your jewelry, which I really appreciate - I can tell that they truly want to set themselves apart from other shops @ tattoo parlors by being transparent, providing top quality jewelry and services, and making you feel like a valued customer. The piercing itself, in case you're wondering, was quick and painless. A flu shot hurts worse! Haha. The whole package was very reasonable & they provide a NeilMed spray piercing cleaner (way better than ones from a certain mall kiosk), as well as pamphlets on how to clean the piercing, and when to come back for a follow up. Price wise- they're a bit more expensive than other local piercers. You do pay for piercing service and jewelry at the same time. Also, although we had an appointment and arrive on time, we waited nearly 45 minutes to be seen. To my knowledge, there wasn't anyone else in the shop- so I'm not sure the reason we were so late. Lost the gem to my nose ring and just needed a replacement, I wanted to support a local business. I had a positive experience in the past which is why the 2 stars. I went on their website to get info regarding their response to COVID- nothing was on the Home Screen about it, so I drove there. It's pretty out of the way with their new location. Anyway, got there and was told you need an appointment for any purchases and was turned away. Would have been nice for that information to be on their website, or to be offered "curbside" service since I was already there. Two employees were in the shop assisting one group, I don't think that is unreasonable considering I knew exactly what piece I needed to replace the one lost. I am very happy with my simple ear piercing at SIX16 and even thinking about getting another soon. A word of warning: the price point is quite high as you must purchase their jewelry, however, thus far it is very delicate and comfortable to wear. The selection skews as a very refined selection of fine jewelry. You can tell pieces were selected with care from someone with a "good eye" for design. I called the shop in the morning and was told to schedule online. I was able to book a same-day appointment and the online scheduling was super easy. The shop is clean and not crowded. I was seen on time and not left waiting. I received 1:1 service to help me pick out a pair of earrings and was talked through the sterilization process. Nick put me at ease and kept things light during the service. He was sure to keep watch over me during the service to make sure i was alright. I was able to pay via credit card. The Credit card machine suggested a tip based on the cost of jewelry and service combined (instead of just the service), but I was super happy. The total cost was about $275. Coming to Six16 Body Piercing was one of the worst experiences in customer service I have had in a while. I am typically not the person to write reviews, but this experience was so bad, that I had to let everyone know. First of all, the prices listed for piercings on the website do not necessarily reflect reality. When picking out an earring, I asked the woman at the counter for a simple, tiny, rose gold stud. It was neither a diamond, nor, sterling silver, nor was it shiny. She told me the piercing and the studs were going to come out to $369 total. Yes, that is not a joke. And that is without tip. And yes, it says prices subject to change on their website... but... by that much? C'mon. Second of all, when I told her I was second guessing my decision to go through with the piercing because of the surprise in price, she just stared blankly and rudely at me. She told me and my roommate, who was also there for her second lobe piercing, that they were very busy and had many appointments after us, and that we had to make a decision quickly while the guys in the back set up the piercing. Her attitude was not consistent with that of typical good customer service. My roommate and I decided to go with paying the cancellation fee of $50 then paying that almost $400 total for a simple lobe piercing. Let's just say I would not recommend this place again, to anyone. read more

They asked if I was okay with her being in the room during the piercing and I absolutely was, and they both do a great job of making you feel comfortable and at ease. They took the time to explain the exact process to me and detailed how the clean and sterilize the equipment and walked me through the actual piercing process as we went so I was surprised by anything. They do have the Saline spray available if you need it and provide great aftercare instruction and follow up. I found the pricing to be very fair, especially given the quality of the work. I really wanted this one piercing and I had no idea what it was so I went in and showed Nick a picture on my phone. Found out it was a conch piercing! Super informative - I wanted a ring but he told me that it would interfere with the healing process and suggested a stud first. When he was drawing the piercing he not only drew where the hole would be but also drew how the ring would look like when I eventually switched to a ring. He said I could come back in 3 months to see if it's healed enough to switch to a ring. Also super clean - they have this test strip thing that verifies that everything used to do your piercing is sterilized in case you get any blood work done/donate blood and need some kind of record of the sterility.
