The guys and gals at Six Star saved the day for me! They were so kind, helpful, and fixed the issue with my Subaru when I just drove up with no appointment. And the price for their service and part was beyond reasonable. I will definitely bring my car there for service in the future. Grateful for them in my town. And the precious pups in the lobby alone are worth the visit! Thank you angels! read more

Traveling through Idaho and noticed an air intake manifold was loose underneath my Ford Explorer. Went to Six Star, and they immediately took a look, fixed the problem in minutes and got me on my way. Awesome business and personnel (Anthony and Brandon) read more

Love these guys, gals, and Missy! Been taking our cars there for years! The shuttle service is great!

They have always given my husband and I great service and do a great job maintaining our vehicles. Whether it's a routine oil change or something much more complicated they get it done efficiently and have it back to me as soon as possible! Also love that the blow up guy is back up out front! read more

I highly recommend Six Star Automotive. I am spending the winter in a town, Sandpoint Idaho, where I know absolutely no one. And of course as soon as I arrived my 12 year old Ford truck had some engine related issues. I looked online for a local repair shop with good reviews and found Six Star Automotive. The front desk person at the local YMCA also gave the thumbs up regarding Six Star. It took less than a day to hear back from Fred, the owner. He sent me a detailed estimate on what was wrong and what needed to be done to fix the problems including the cost of each line item. My truck had some relatively substantial issues which wasn't a huge shock since I had 188,000 miles and not a lot of repair bills up to that point. I called Fred for some clarification and gave him the approval to do the work. We were already at the end of their work week so I knew I would be without the truck for at least the weekend. Fred gave me a loaner vehicle for the entire time my truck was being worked on at no extra cost. I got an update email on their progress I think on Tuesday or so. They had discovered a couple more problems. They finished the truck within a day or two I believe. The bill came right where Fred had estimated it to be. Within a day or so I went for a drive around the lake and noticed exhaust or steam coming from the engine. I checked the temp's and oil pressure and all was normal so I felt safe driving it back to Six Star to have them take a look. Fred came out to look and could see there was a problem. He asked if I had an hour to spare so his mechanic could check it out. Within 30 minutes his mechanic determined I had a cracked valve cover and it needed to be replaced. Fred told me they weren't sure how it happened but he knew it wasn't my fault and he was pretty sure it wasn't their fault but regardless he was going to take care of it on his end and no cost to me. He gave me the Chevy pickup as a loaner and had my truck fixed within a few days. I drove the truck about 400 miles back to my home for Christmas and then back to Sandpoint after the new year. My 12 year old truck is running like new. I notice it everytime I drive. There is more power, the mileage is a little better, the heating and air conditioning system is better and the biggest issue of all is the smell of exhaust I would get at random times while driving and also everytime I started the engine inside the truck was gone. This was a 3 - 4 year issue that no other car repair could solve. I had looked online in the Ford F150 forums for an idea of what it might be but never had any success. I told Fred about the issue really as a side note just in case. When I got the truck back he told me he thought they had solved the issue and as turned out they did. I appologize for the length of this review but I want people to know Fred runs an amazing automotive repair business and is a man who keeps his word. read more

After receiving poor service at the Nissan Dealership in Couer d'Alene that that left our car in dangerous driving condition, we went to Six Star Automotive upon the recommendation from a friend. We met Chris Cook, who was ready to sort out the problems in our Murano. He was courteous, conscientious and smart. He reassured us that they would get to the bottom of the problems. In just a few days the car was back to the same high level of functionality we were used to. I can't recommend this automotive business enough. BONUS: They have a really cute dog who will sit on your lap in the lobby while you're waiting. (Ken & Kim Herbst) read more

Honest and reasonably priced shop. Folks there are willing to tell you what things must be fixed immediately, and they tell you what items you should fix as soon as you are financially able to. Their work is good. read more

I took my beloved "heap" of a car into Six Star to check out several issues it was having. They took us right in with no judgement. Kristen in the office was so great ... it was like having a friend on the inside! They solved several problems without dinging me for lots of extras. They actually let me know what was really necessary without trying to scare me into paying for a lot more work. I will be a regular. read more

They provided excellent service at very reasonable price. Furthermore they included free transportation to bring me home after I dropped off my vehicle (within 10 miles). Highly recommend! read more

I took my 2015 GMC sierra here to have it diagnosed as it was losing power and the engine light was flashing. They diagnosed it and told me the codes said that it needed new spark plugs and wires. And then they gave me a quote of almost $1100 to do this work! I'm not a schmuck so I told them I'm not paying that much to have spark plug wires and spark plugs replaced so I found another local mechanic to do the work for $200 plus the price of parts. Unfortunately after doing that work, the truck was still running the same not even drivable. I do not recommend using this place. read more

Outstanding service and quality care for you and your car! Very happy customer. Wish I had found you years ago, rather than driving to Cd'A to the dealer. I wasn't just a number here. Owner took time to explain things. read more

I called Six Star on the recommendation of my friend because my check engine light came on. Chris answered the phone and said they could hook up their computer to my car to give me an idea of what was going on. I drove down and he met me out front with the hand held unit! He hooke it up, explained the error and possible causes. He reset the light for me and gave me some suggestions on what to do next. Soooo helpful and he did stress me out by telling me that I needed to do anything right away. I really appreciate the honesty! I would definetly head back if my car starts acting up again. read more

As a former mechanic myself, I normally hesitate when suggesting a mechanic to my friends and family. To put it simply, some mechanics are more concerned about moving as many vehicles through their shop in the shortest amount of time possible than taking the time to build trust and loyalty with satisfied customers. This is exactly why I feel confident in suggesting Six Star to everyone I know: the staff at Six Star pride themselves on relationships over revenue. When you're in need of repair and you just don't know where to turn, know that you can trust Six Star to provide friendly, ethical, and quality service every time. read more

I went into six star on Friday because my check engine light was on so I stop by and the owner Chris was there and said what can I help you with. I told him that the check engine light just came on as I started the car on he had one of the mechanics come out with their little machine they found out what the problem was scheduled my appointment. Chris said bring it in on Tuesday at 8 a.m. I showed up a little early they had my car in the shop got it fixed figured out the problem was a sensor and it runs better now than it has been so I want to thank six star all the great work they do. They got my car in at 8 in the morning and was out before 10 a.m. I truly appreciate all the hard work and great customer service and I love that you're honest with your customers and go right to the point to get the car fixed thank you so much. I will recommend six star to everyone when my father was alive that's where he took his Subaru they do fantastic work I totally trust them thank you read more

We've been taking our vehicles there for years. Good, honest people who know what they're doing, and great to work with!

We have done business with Six Star Automotive for many years and many cars. I am so confident that our vehicles get excellent service and I get straight-forward, honest feedback. When you're told "We can fix it instead of replacing it" or "Take it to this other business because they're better at this than us", you know that you're getting the straight scoop. I would recommend Six Star without reservation. read more

I'm greatly disappointed in this place. I was traveling and my back brakes were making noise. They looked and said there was play in a strut. So they replaced that. They also " checked" all the fluid levels. Upon arrival at our next destination the back brake was grinding and my husband had to replace the pads. The rear end was making noise and the car was jerking and grinding in the rear end. When we checked there was no fluid in the gear box and the nut was loose. We visit often near Sandpoint. But I will never trust my car to these guys again. read more

Great team of honest guys who don't over charge or do work that is not required. I love having Six Star in Sandpoint. Businesses don't last long here unless they have quality behind their name. Six Star definitely has that reputation. We take our Highlander here. read more

I had my car towed to Six Star after it wouldn't start and my hubby determined it was not the battery. Dale informed me they could diagnose the problem 2 days later. However, the car started right up for them. Six Star gave me the option of picking up the car or having them run further testing. I just decided to pick up the car. So far, it hasn't died on me again, but if/when it does I will bring it back to Six Star. Since the problem would not manifest for them, they didn't charge me anything. Good Honest People as far as I can tell. read more

You couldn't find a more reliable, honest and knowledgable group of guys. Taking your car anywhere else would just be a poor choice!!!

I had an engine installed and supplied by six star in November. in January, the engine was overheating because it had burned all the coolant internally. Six star had my truck for more than 2 weeks. when I got it back I was watching the coolant very closely. I had to add coolant several times and also had small puddles of coolant under the truck. I brought the truck in on numerous occasions and they could not find the leak. on June 27th, one day before moving to Arizona. six star added bars leak to my engine and sent me on my way! my new mechanic has found the leak! the head gasket is leaking and six star will not stand behind there work! I am out $5500 read more
