When I got there Sean encouraged me to do a test drive just to be sure because he wanted me to be sure I drove away without regret and happy. it wasnt your typical car sales experience, he wasn't pushy didn't try to upsell and really truly wanted to make sure I had the best experience. I brought my van in after being quoted for paint work and rust removal. Without contacting me or…read moregetting my approval, they did not remove all of the rust and instead sprayed Rhino lining on the roof rather than painting it as I had been quoted. When I later posted a review about my experience, Fox Auto Body responded to my review by claiming online that I had approved the work. I unequivocally did not. When I contacted them and vehemently challenged that statement, they subsequently appeared to back off that claim, telling me that they would delete their response. I then asked about a refund because the work performed did not match what I had been quoted for. I was told they could not offer a refund because of my review and my email response to them. Well, yeah, when you lie about what happened, I am going to call you out for it. To give that as a reason for refusing a refund seems both odd and unethical, but I digress. Their justification for the changes was that this was a more "cost-efficient" approach. A euphemism for cutting corners. Moreover, that approach was taken without discussing it with me first or obtaining my approval. I challenge them to present any evidence that I approved these changes. They will not, and cannot, because I never did. From my perspective, the issues are straightforward: the quoted rust removal was not fully completed, the roof was Rhino-lined instead of being painted as quoted, and these changes were made without my authorization. Again, their initial public claim that I had approved the change was later withdrawn. This demonstrates, in my view, not only that I was dealing with a company willing to shamelessly cut corners to maximize profit, but also one that appears willing to say whatever is necessary to avoid accountability when challenged. What will their response be this time, I wonder? Based on my experience, I would highly recommend using another body shop.

Check engine light was flashing in my truck at the start of my 75 mile commute home. I managed to…read moreget the truck up the hill, and called Ponderay Autocare the following morning. They were pretty stacked, so it was a few days before I could drop it off. In the end, I was quoted about $1,500 to replace the intake manifold, spark plugs and attendant wires. The repair took 24-36 hours to get the truck back, and just in time: It is our only 4wd vehicle and there was a big snow storm on the way. Well, a week later, I'm making the exact same 75 mile drive home and sure enough, the truck starts exhibiting the same symptoms for which I'd brought it in; engine misfiring, and check engine light flashing. I brought it back the following morning, and though it was another day or so before they could look at it, it turned out to be a bad spark plug wire and there was no charge for the repeat service. It has been running beautifully since. On the whole, communications here can be clipped and terse, but it also means no nonsense, and I've detected no underlying dishonesty from anyone here. They're very straight up, and very busy, which I consider good things for a mechanic shop. The business itself is pretty small, with two garage bays and a small, closet sized office. Parking can be a little tricky, and unless you know what you're looking for, the business can be a little tricky to spot the first time around. They're very close to the Hoot Owl Cafe, which is about a 5-10 minute walk down the highway, so you can at least grab some quality grub if you're waiting for diagnosis or repair. I live all the way up in the Naples/Bonners Ferry area, but if I've got vehicle trouble again, I'm driving the extra miles to bring it here.
