Also noticed they are not changing the filter since the last time I changed it and I'm pretty sure using conventional oil instead of the synthetic that I use and adamantly tell her to request. Could she be forgetting to relay the message? Possibly but not likely. My truck is a whole different story. Took it to them to put pressure sensors on my winter wheels and right off the bat, they charged me double what was quoted. Then when they program the new sensors, they take over an hour and somehow unprogram my original sensors in the summer wheels. Then of course they tell me I need new sensors in the summer wheels so I just purchase an additional 4 which I immediately had problems with the programming and stop working within the year. Management takes no responsibility and claims that I only had one or two sensors replaced and wants me to get receipts from last year and bring my winter wheels in which they retract when I say, "sure I'll go get them". Then they act like I'm wasting their time taking up a bay when they never did the job I paid for in the first place. Long story short, they are either incompetent because they don't know what they are doing or scamming because they do know what they are doing. From the way they treat my girlfriend and the other women that I've seen go in there, not to mention the nonsense way they went about the sensor issue, I'd say their a snake oil selling shop and recommend just going to Les Schwab down the street.

They were pretty stacked, so it was a few days before I could drop it off. In the end, I was quoted about $1,500 to replace the intake manifold, spark plugs and attendant wires. The repair took 24-36 hours to get the truck back, and just in time: It is our only 4wd vehicle and there was a big snow storm on the way. Well, a week later, I'm making the exact same 75 mile drive home and sure enough, the truck starts exhibiting the same symptoms for which I'd brought it in; engine misfiring, and check engine light flashing. I brought it back the following morning, and though it was another day or so before they could look at it, it turned out to be a bad spark plug wire and there was no charge for the repeat service. It has been running beautifully since. On the whole, communications here can be clipped and terse, but it also means no nonsense, and I've detected no underlying dishonesty from anyone here. They're very straight up, and very busy, which I consider good things for a mechanic shop. The business itself is pretty small, with two garage bays and a small, closet sized office. Parking can be a little tricky, and unless you know what you're looking for, the business can be a little tricky to spot the first time around. They're very close to the Hoot Owl Cafe, which is about a 5-10 minute walk down the highway, so you can at least grab some quality grub if you're waiting for diagnosis or repair. I live all the way up in the Naples/Bonners Ferry area, but if I've got vehicle trouble again, I'm driving the extra miles to bring it here.

(car came from Hawaii 3 yrs ago) Then the big issue: Russel, Lightning Lube owner said both CV axles were damaged and it was dangerous to drive car or use 4 wheel drive. I had a trip to Seattle scheduled next dau so said fix the axles. Raymond had a hell of a time working till 8:30 PM Sat when he was foiled by a brake line. Went home, and then I remembered LES SCHWAB did all 4 new brakes, calipers, rotors on 10/23/24 costing $2224. Raymond showed me there were not 4 new calipers on the car and we realized perhaps Les Schwab mechanic caused problem. The RF caliper was rusted, old one. The brake line had been misthreaded. I googled " CV axle damaged by brake job and it said that it is a big possibility. I requested the Les Schwab manager come to Lighting Lube and view the brake job, He agreed to pay Lightning Lube to fix the brake job right and said he would bring over a new Caliper for RF. While I was at the Lightening shop another customer had his truck in the shop due to Les Schwab not fixing his truck right! The Les Schwab Manager also agreed to pay for his work to get it done right. If it hadn't been for the great mechanic at Lightning Lube I could have had a huge problem going over the pass with damaged cv axles. The one axle was so bad the boot was torn completely and filled with mud and rocks and fell apart when mechanic removed it. Russel had a loaner car for me. The crew at Lightening Lube is awesome, caring, skilled and efficient. I highly recommend them. (Here's a picture of the 'NEW' caliper Les Shwab charged me for in October 20245. Does this look NEW)
