We came in for a consultation last Thursday for our 1 y.o pure bred GSD, Holley. We met with Ed Graves- he's fantastic! He confirmed our suspicions Holley is an anxious and nervous dog but very smart. During the consultation he worked with her briefly in their arena with his own dog, Pepper. Ed explained to us a couple years prior he struggled with Pepper in terms of training but after working with her personally, she's like a brand new dog! During the short time Ed had Holley in the arena, we could already see a difference in how Holley acted. I even turned to my husband at one point as said, "who's dog is that??" because I was just so amazed at how receptive she was to Ed. We are currently going over the different programs we can enroll her in so we can get her started! I will say, they aren't cheap, but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Cheap training gets you cheap results. I can't wait to start Holley in with Sit Means Sit!

Just several weeks ago my fiancé and I moved with our two dogs from Texas to Denver! We have two goofy golden retriever pups that loved people and did well in our big Texas house with our big Texas yard. I began practicing practicing leash walking to prepare for our transition to an urban apartment in LoHi. I quickly realized that our dogs needed some big help. Dallas was anxious and hyper. Yeti had leash aggression towards other big dogs. I had done months of clicker and positive reinforcement training. This really improved their inside manners but I still couldn't seem to get their attention with distractions, especially walks. I walked them daily for months and was told by a trainer "they just may never be able to interact with other dogs on leash". This made me feel completely defeated and nervous for our journey. On the drive with the dogs from Texas to Colorado, Dalls cried the entire 13 hours on and off. Yeti lurched and growled at 3 other dogs in the hotel. They were miserable and nervous. I was terrified and exhausted. How was I going to walk both of these dogs daily while my fiancé travels? I desparately called Anthony at sit means sit. I was initially apprehensive about SMS. I was misinformed that it was a "shock collar treatment". They showed me how the collars are a way for us to communicate with them. I tried it on myself and it felt similar to a TENS or E-Stim unit I would use on my patients as a physical therapist. The dogs have been doing the "Day Training" program, where they go for an intensive day once a week and I work with them throughout the week on the skills. Ed and Anthony have been so available and helpful throughout this journey. They make huge changes with the dogs when they are at the facility, and walk me through strategies when I have the dogs at home. It has definitely been hard work on our end but completely worth it. We have had one full day of training and one week of daily at home practice. I can confidently walk my dogs on a leash around other dogs and distractions. And the dogs LOVE it. Finally walks are enjoyable and not stressful for us. Yesterday I took both dogs to the park by myself. Which is something that was once terrifying for me. It is a dream come true. We still have lots of work to do to get them 100% off leash. But this 1 week has been a night and day difference. Thank you sit means sit! Our dogs (and us) now love their Colorado life.

I love my dog and want the best for him as most owners do. Milo is 2 and a half years old. After a long time of being a wonderfully friendly dog who was great with other dogs both on and off leash some concerning behaviors surfaced. Mostly severe leash aggression, pulling and overstimulation at the dog park that led to fights. After a few weeks of trying to "fix it" myself with positive reinforcement and treats I realized I wasn't able to offer consistent expectations without being trained myself and I needed help. I found the "treat" system to be quite unsuccessful, for my 90lb dog, a squirrel is a much more delicious treat than whatever I had on hand. Away we would go at his discretion with me begging him to stop and simultaneously being dragged along in his bad behavior. His leash reactivity to other dogs and distractions deterred me from giving him the proper exercise and socializing due to anxiety about "what could happen" and I knew I needed to make a change. After much research I decided to go with Sit Means Sit (the fact that it came HIGHLY recommended from a friend with a giant mastiff also helped). I knew I needed help with my big "bad" dog so nothing bad happened to either of us and the rest of our lives together could be more than just stressful, quick walks. The dog loves to explore, swim and play and he deserves to do so in a productive manner. Sit means sit has been incredible. Two of the three full day sessions in and I swear they swapped him out for a well behaved clone but more seriously, his behavior has 180-ed. Ed and Anthony have been so patient with us both and really changed not only his behavior but my entire thinking about the relationship I have with my dog and how to best manage it. I see him looking to me on walks for affirmation that his behavior is what I expect and want (amazing), he and I are both happier and we are having a great time! I look forward to walks, runs, the dog park... yes I said it the dog park where I feared going in the past... (I would drive by to make sure no one was there) and our future together. Sit means sit gives us coaching at each session, collar & lifestyle recommendations for more successful walking and guidance, and follow up! He plays with the other dogs there and at the dog park productively and we can't wait to attend group sessions! Thank you Anthony, Ed and all of Sit Means Sit, from both of us.

    Baloo the Rottweiler!

Sit Means Sit is a life changing decision that my family and I made for my Rottweiler Baloo. I have never been so impressed and thankful for a wonderful company. The team at Sit Means Sit Denver made me feel comfortable leaving my baby with them for a week. My dog was already fairly trained however, he had self confidence issues that caused him to show aggression towards other dogs and people. Especially men! After a week with Sit Means Sit and continuous training Baloo is happier and so am I. He now gets along with my moms dogs and my step dad. I can take him for walks and off leash at the lake and he is responsive to my command. Baloo is confident, loving and wants to learn more. He loves going to training to see his new friends. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit Denver! They changed my life and the investment is 100% worth it!!

happy as a clam after his 1 week follow up session, post 14 day board and train,

Sheer relief. That was what I felt the day we took our male american bulldog Hooch home from his 14 day Board and Train with Sit Means Sit. He was a happy, easy-going, friendly dog, until he entered full adulthood. He was as his breed suggests, a bully! Relief because he wasn't a lost cause, with the collar technique he could be trained and we can avoid the risk of losing our dog to a bad dog bite, etc. We worked with the leash training for 14 months and it just wasn't doing it. I don't think this expresses how grateful we are but THANK YOU SIT MEANS SIT!

We have a 2yr old husky mix (Cheyenne) that our family adores. She was a good dog and knew all the normal commands (sit, stay, leave it etc), but it was always so hard to have her out with us because of her energy level. She was always pulling on the leash, trying to run after a bunny or jumping all over people. It made it so hard to have her around us while out in the yard, on walks or at the kids sporting events. The one thing she would always do was bolt out the door (she even figured out how to open the slider if it wasn't locked). I would call her and she would take one look at me and run the other way...gone for an hour or so before she'd finally come back. I was just waiting for the day when she wouldn't return because she got hit by a car or caught by coyotes. I saw the 'Sit Means Sit' van and thought I'd call. It's been 3 weeks and I'm completely amazed at the turnaround Cheyenne has made. I haven't had her on a leash in over a week...we walk the neighborhood, around 2miles, twice everyday and she walks right with me (no more spilled coffee because she saw a bunny!). We've been out in our front yard/street with tons of kids playing and adults all running around and she plays, has fun, stays around, and doesn't jump on anyone. It's a dream come true! I got the 'Ultimate Package' which cost $695 and it's worth every penny! I've spent money on other training that got her sorta trained. This really, really, really works!!! And works FAST! The best part is that now we are all happy...she has the freedom to come out with us and I can count on her to make the right decisions given the situation we're in. It's so AWESOME!!! THANK YOU ANTHONY!

    Sitting on "Place"

We have a 2 year old Aussie. We ADORE her. She is fiery, spirited and sweet- but she used to be a downright terror! She would bark at other dogs, pull relentlessly on her harness on walks, chase things, growl at people on walks, wouldn't come when I called her, jump on the counters and grab things and run away, would beg during meal times, would be in our guests faces, would start fights with our 15 year old Sheltie, and would just do anything to get attention... you get the picture! This was not for a lack of training when she was younger- she is just a VERY spirited dog. She has had some trachea issues in the past and I refused to walk her on a collar out of fear that she would hurt herself by pulling. I NEVER dreamed I would ever walk her with a simple leash and collar. Until SMS came in!.... We purchased the three time all day classes, with the lifetime membership group classes. Even after the first day, I saw a huge improvement in her. She was attentive and really looking at the trainer to see what the next task was. I was amazed. We did purchase a "place" to use at home. What an absolute miracle. We worked VERY hard at home with her. We never let her revert back to old habits and we were constantly in training mode. She responded amazingly. Being a working dog, I honestly think she was so relieved to have a job and know for certain her place in the family. The great part is that she is still a fiery dog and our silly girl- which was very much our desire. I even told Anthony on the first day- "train her, but please don't ruin her or crush her spirit." He giggled confidently and assured me it would be okay. They absolutely listened to my request and more than that, they helped her become a different and better dog! My girl is still a playful, wonderful and fiery girl. And thanks to SMS, a now respectful dog! She comes when I call, she sits on place when I ask (and stays until I tell her free), she leaves the kitchen when I ask, she no longer counter surfs. I think a lot of her behavior before SMS was out of fear and that she felt the need to be the pack leader. She was longing for direction and for a strong leader. She really needed a job. SMS also helped me become that leader! They trained me just as much as they trained her and helped me give her a job to walk up to every morning- to be my calm companion and my running buddy! She is now an all around calm, level headed, respectful and attentive dog. She no longer starts fights over food or bothers our Sheltie. She licks kids and other dogs now. She LOVES the dog park and loves to go to bars with us and quietly enjoy the patio with us. I even told my husband jokingly after the first two weeks, "Is this even our dog!?" BEST of all, she walks on a collar with no harness! I can now walk her into any store, any bar, any park- anywhere. No pulling. Just a respectful, calm, cool headed Aussie walking next to her pack leader. Sit means Sit has literally saved my dog and her place in our family. I am sorry for the novel, but I literally cannot say enough about SMS and I will tell everyone I know about them. Thank you guys so so much. - Jennie and Scout

Back then, Keej could never lay-down calmly like this.

The word most commonly-used to describe my dog was "crazy." Indeed he was. Hyper, jumping all over people, obsessively licking everything, and chasing after any animal that moved (squirrels, rabbits, other dogs, cats, etc.) He broke through many collars. He was uncontrollable. I got my dog Keej (pronounced 'Gang') when he was 4-months old. Shortly after, I enrolled him in a local Training class. The trainer there focused primarily on positive-training methods through the use of Treats, toys, etc. My dog soon became accustomed to obeying ONLY when the very best treats were presented to him. Regular treats did not catch his attention at all. A year later, I enrolled him again in a different Training class that focused on mental-stimulation & exercise. However, it seemed no matter how much exercise he got or obstacle courses he completed, shortly after catching his breath, he would return back to his crazy, disobedient self. By the time Keej turned two, I got to the point of almost wanting to give up. I knew he was miserable living with me, being confined to a crate or an outdoor kennel all day/night because we couldn't trust him. I was miserable too, having to adjust my schedule just to come back home & make sure he could get his potty breaks. Then with our newborn son, he had even less freedom as we could not trust him near our son being so hyper all the time. I didn't think Keej could be trained anymore at this point. As a last resort and after reading the great reviews for Sit Means Sit, we decided to enroll Keej in their board&train program. Since then (4 months ago), our lives have been changed. I wish I knew about them before! Bob, our trainer, taught me how to stop trying to guide (control) my dog to behave the way I wanted him to. Instead, I had to give him the chance to make the right decision. Keej had to choose to walk next to me, choose to give attention to me even when distraction was around, choose to NOT chase after rabbits, etc. Bob equipped me to train him in such a way. Keej has already started making wise decisions even without my command. I'm still working on training Keej daily, but I am feeling hopeful & confident in him. He is such a happy dog now and is no longer confined to a crate. If you're struggling to train your dog, even if your dog is already an adult, don't hesitate and give Sit Means Sit a call.

I really can't recommend Sit Means Sit enough. Anthony (our trainer in their Board and Train program) not only changed Rosie's (my dog) life, but mine as well. I got Rosie to be my companion, to be part of my family and interaction with friends. She's a rescue, and I knew when I got her that she had aggression problems. I figured it would just be something to work through. She also had insatiable energy, very bad problems jumping on people and zero recall ability. An 80 lb dog, she hurt some people in my family by jumping on them. When I'd go camping I'd let her off leash to only chase her for hours, terrified to have lost her in the wilderness. I could never take her to friends' houses for fear of her attacking other dogs and jumping all over people I might be meeting that night. All this manifested to Rosie staying at home, and me shaping my life around getting home in time to feed her, let her out, etc. This isn't what I hoped for becoming a dog owner. I knew there must be some way to move forward. I heard of Sit Means Sit from the Highlands Street Fair where I was very impressed by the level of control they held over the dogs. When I left the country for a few weeks I decided to go for it and send Rosie to the two week Board and Train. The financial investment is significant, and I was frankly apprehensive. What if it didn't work? When I got home, I arrived to a new dog. Ten weeks later the results are stunning. Rosie is 100% controllable off leash. When I take her on walks, I never even bring it any more. When I run through parks and other dogs are around she stays glued to my side until I release her - it's incredible. Her dog aggression has steadily improved now that I can control her. When I meet new people or dogs I am upfront with them about her history and my ability to control her, then ask if they want to introduce. They always do. Initially, she showed her old colors, but with the ability to immediately correct the behavior her aggressive traits have steadily faded. She now never instigates aggression, while it will take some more time to completely 'cure' her of reactive aggression. Her recall is incredible. Rosie comes with me everywhere now. Patios for drinks, friends houses for parties. Everyone loves her now as much as I do. Her energy is controllable (I think because her mind is engaged), she gets along with other dogs and she is responsive to commands. I couldn't be happier! I enthusiastically endorse Sit Means Sit to anyone who is experiencing issues with their dog's behavioral traits. These guys are the real deal!

Sit means sit is a lifesaver! We have a now 1 year old German Shepherd named Kayna. My husband and I brought her home just after Christmas and have been in love ever since! A few months later, we signed her up for puppy classes with a GSD trainer in the area. The positive reinforcement training was effective for her behavior within the home, but we soon realized there was a dark spot in her behavior. Whenever we take her outside in public, her insecurities show. Kayna is a VERY reactive dog. People, dogs, squirrel...a leaf rolling across the street will get her to lunge at whatever it is, hackles up and barking like mad! While we know she is a sweetie = a stranger thinks that she is ready to attack! We worked hard with our trainer to try and correct this issue, only to be told she is "going through a fear phase" and to "come back when she is over it". We knew then that it was time to look elsewhere. I did my research, read the reviews, and it was obvious that Sit Means Sit should be a good fit for Kayna and our family. We made an appointment with Bob, and immediately knew we had found our trainer. Bob made us feel at ease, and helped us understand that we had not ruined Kayna! She just needed some direction. Bob then took us outside to demonstrate how their training method worked. Our jaws dropped when he showed how the Sit Means Sit program focuses on off leash work and how he was able to fully trust his dogs off leash = something we have never been able to even consider! The entire demonstration, Kayna barked her head off at them. He then put the training collar on Kayna. Within seconds, Kayna was under control around his dogs. We were sold. We agreed to a week-long board and train program. This included 2 private lessons, as well as a lifetime of group classes for her. It was an easy decision knowing that Sit Means Sit was committed to Kayna being a happy healthy dog. It was tough to see her go, and harder being away from her for that time, but when we got her back, we knew it was well worth it. The Kayna that came back was a completely different dog! We are now able to go to the park, OFF LEASH (city reg. permitting of course). Not only that, we are able to take her to Home Depot, Cabellas or anywhere else dogs are allowed. She isn't perfect yet - still gets a little upset when other dogs bark at her; I know that we are on the right path now. Bob has been so supportive, and is always a phone call away if we need guidance or advice. If you are looking for a training program that results in a happy, confident, and satisfied owner as well as a happy, confident, and obedient dog, Sit Means Sit is it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga5gnahztio

Two of them are my problem children: a Rottweiler mix foster fail who is reactive to bikes and other dogs and occasionally nervous around people like visiting contractors or UPS men, and the other is a 100+ lb Brazilian mastiff rescue from Aruba who is not fond of other dogs. The two of them began showing increasingly worse dog aggression toward other dogs on the trail and while camping, and had attacked several dogs by the time I found Loyal Hound/Juliet. I was at my wit's end, because I had already spent thousands of dollars and tried everything including other trainers at that point with little to no progress. I felt stuck with 2 big problems for the next 6-8 years. I hike at least 3 miles every single day off leash on the trails by my house, and I love to camp with my dogs in the summer, but they became such a liability that walks became stressful and camping became impossible. I finally found Juliet with Loyal Hound, and for our very first session we met at a crowded park and were going to be doing off leash training right away. I was so nervous -- all the triggers were present: other people with dogs on leashes, dogs off leashes, people on bikes, squirrels -- so I was absolutely AMAZED when we were walking my Rottweiler off leash through a gaggle of geese, past people on bikes, and past other dogs within a few minutes with no problems. It was nothing short of a miracle. Within a few sessions, I had both of my dog aggressive dogs walking on and off leash next to me, passing other dogs (sometimes dogs that were even barking at them) on trails safely with no reactivity. I cannot explain in words how much of a difference this has made in my life -- I feel like I got my life back. If you have a dog aggressive dog, this is the place to go. It's WELL worth the investment, and you will be amazed at the difference you will see in your dog. Thank you Loyal Hound & Juliet!!

Within 5 minutes we were able to re-establish the training methods that work and get Hope back on track with easy leash walking. I am so impressed with her concise easy to follow instructions. I am looking forward to taking my two Samoyeds on walks again while walking my toddler in a stroller without having to worry that Hope will pull us. Trained dogs are safe dogs and I'd pay for the training with Juliet 10x over. Worth every penny! It makes my life easier as a single mom managing all the things to have two dogs that get to enjoy being outside with us because I trust them and they trust me. We've really benefited from one-on-one training, and within just a few sessions, we are seeing a difference. Be ready to do the work with your dog! If you take the tools and techniques Jose teaches and implement them, it'll work, and you'll be happy and have a well-behaved dog! Additionally, his prices are some of the fairest I found after interviewing several dog trainers. He takes the approach of letting me lead in what I think my dog needs, but also offers his opinions. Thanks, Jose!

Car rides were awful, we had to cover our windows so he would not react to people or dogs walking by, and he even reacted to cartoon dogs on TV. He also started showing aggression toward our other dog. We had tried multiple training classes before and things were only getting worse. After Jose's 16 day program Otis came home like a completely different dog. Even after the first few days we could see his confidence growing and every group class showed more progress. Other dog owners even commented on how much he had changed. I truly never thought I would see Otis running around playing with other dogs but now he is a normal, happy dog. Jose fixed him and completely changed his life and ours. This is the best money we have ever spent and I will always be grateful. I cannot recommend him enough!

I decided to wait until after our trip to look for a new rescue; however, a friend in Texas asked if I would please take a stray that her grand kids had found there. They couldn't keep him, they were unable to find anyone else to take him and they didn't want to drop him off at a rescue shelter there. Hence, I ended up with an untrained but loveable stray named Buddy. Due to the short amount of time before our trip, I looked for a place to teach him some manners. Based on a recommendation from another company and the glowing reviews on the web, I dropped him off at Dog Dynamix for 3 weeks of board and train for $3,495. Pricey, but I was glad they would be able to complete his training before we left for Montana. Imagine my surprise when Buddy came back to me unable to do anything that he hadn't been doing when I dropped him off. He could do a little heeling for very brief periods provided there were zero distractions. Same with 'sit'. Didn't know 'stay' or 'down'. No basic obedience behavior whatsoever. What I got for my $3,495 was 1 pet cot, 1 slip leash, 1 remote collar set and 4 cans of dog food (not a part of his regular diet). I did not get a dog that exhibited any training. Fortunately, he's still very loveable. I would not recommend Dog Dynamix for anything other than possibly boarding.

Bark Busters - Leash work made easy

The…read morelab mix has always been pretty good inside, but we got her right before COVID started, and whenever the door opens she freaks out and barks at and jumps all over whoever is coming in. Outside, she cannot be trusted off a leash, because she will just literally run away and come back when she feels like it. The Corgi mix is a sweet guy but we got our first notice from our HOA that we have a nuisance dog. He has been incessantly barking at the hallway when we're out of the house. Walking them together is a nightmare because they both zip off in different directions and you become an acrobat trying to manage the leashes. We attended initial 8-week training sessions at PetSmart with both of them, and they can sit and lay down, but anything more than that is wishful thinking, and a sit/stay does not really translate into actual obedience. Scott helped us fix almost all of that in about 90 minutes. Scott's approach is to talk to dogs like you're a dog. To get their attention, you basically growl at them, and imitate(!) snapping at them if necessary (I want to emphasize that there is no physical punishment for the dogs), and you assert leadership, and then when they are doing the right thing, you talk to them sweetly. My wife and I love this because it's so simple and consistent. We don't have to remember when to use "stay" vs "wait." Which hand signal do we use for this command vs that command? It's "bah!" and "gooood!" The first session was all indoor behavior, and since then we've had two sets of friends over and gotten the lab calmed in about 2 min vs 10 before. The corgi is much less growly/barky about hallway noises. Since we did leash training in the second session, both dogs follow respectfully on walks. Like, it was a near instant improvement. It's not perfect, but with the lab it's gonna take some time because she's had 6 years of thinking she's the boss! But the technique is so simple that it's easy to apply to new situations. The lab likes to jump up to steal food from the counter at my dad's house. A few "bah!"s with follow-up "gooood"s and that stopped cold after 5 years of it being a habit, and we didn't need to leash her the entire time we were there! It's expensive, but the speed at which we've seen improvement has made it very worth it, and knowing we can call Scott for any stuff that comes up in the future makes the price easier to handle. For example, we're hoping just the general increased respect/deference from the lab mix will allow us to eventually let her off leash, but if it doesn't, we know we can call to address that directly.

I have never left a review on Yelp - ever - but this business is such a scam that I feel compelled…read moreto say something. My dog is no better than before - we learned precisely one tactic that helps *some* of the time. Most of the time it's meaningless, and otherwise we've seen no improvement whatsoever. My biggest frustration is the combination of having paid an exorbitant fee to see no change, combined with the fact that the trainer spends almost no time with you and the pet, so you can't even pretend to feel like it was worthwhile. He comes for like an hour (or even less? I don't remember exactly -- I gave the process some time to take effect before leaving this review, so it's been a little while) and then leaves. This company says they train the pet owner to care for the dog, rather than train the dog his/herself, saying that the pet owner is who the dog will need to behave with long term. I should have just paid an effective dog trainer to take the dog or come over and train her -- I would've paid much less to have much, much better outcomes. In this case, the trainer stops by, tells you to do some things that aren't going to work, leaves you with a measly spray bottle and bag of pennies to throw down near the dog (not joking) and you're left broke, with a poorly-behaved dog at your side. Buyer beware.

She brings such a calm, knowledgeable, and thoughtful approach to training, and it's clear how much she genuinely cares about the dogs she works with. We saw real progress with our dog, Kendrick, in a relatively short amount of time. What truly set this experience apart, though, was how Quinn handled a scary and unexpected situation. During Kendrick's initial board-and-train, he had a seizure. Quinn stepped in immediately, took great care of him, and kept us informed while we rushed home. Knowing he was with someone so attentive and compassionate made an incredibly stressful moment much easier. On top of that, Pavlov honored the remaining portion of his training, and Quinn welcomed him back once he was ready to complete the program. That level of flexibility and integrity speaks volumes. We're so grateful for Quinn -- not just for the training, but for the trust and care she showed when it mattered most. Highly recommend.

A complete contrast to our older collie/aussie mix, he was full of energy and naughtiness (a puppy), and a nightmare to control. Prior to being surrendered by his (previous) family, he went through two weeks of out of home boarding/training, costing upwards of $7,000. We thought this would have helped with obedience, but boy were we wrong. Fast forward two and a half years, sessions with a certified behaviorist, and failed attempts to use an e-collar, we were at a loss. He constantly displayed leash reactivity, would lunge at cars and dogs, and made it so we would rarely walk anywhere. He almost broke my finger during a break free lunge at a dog completely across a residential street! At home, dog forbid another animal appeared on the tv; he would jump and bark at everything. Then we found Chill Out... After the very first session with Scott, our big boy golden was a different dog.
