It's a small spot with only four tables and three seats at a little bar, but don't let the size fool you--the food is delicious! Everything was delicious and did not disappoint! My husband had the fried chicken with rice, mac & cheese, and corn, and he said it was excellent. And the sweet tea? Five stars! If you're in the Dunnellon area and looking for some good, down-home food, I highly recommend giving Southern Palate a try. Definitely worth checking out!

The staff checked on us often with that perfect balance of no-nonsense efficiency and friendly Southern hospitality. You can tell this place runs on routine, experience, and pride in the food. Also, tartar sauce just tasted like mayo. Cocktail sauce however was amazing. We got cheese sticks for the kids....completely over priced. Only got 5 sticks and they were tiny and obviously from a box however the fried mushrooms were some of the best I've had and it was a huge basket. Kids had the chicken tenders and they were very good and definitely homemade. Overall a good experience and would recommend.

And we ordered two appetizers escargot which I don't recommend it included 5 snails on top of a lot of small mushrooms and it wasn't seasoned well!! Hard to match my previous escargot plates in other restaurants. The other appetizer was gator bites. I liked that! For our main entree we shared a seafood combo but you had to choose from fried, boiled or blackened and we chose fried they couldn't accommodate having half the plate cooked a different way so was just too much fried seafood. The platter brings shrimp, white fish, scallops, à crab cake, and oysters. The shrimp were big and tasty, and the white fish was delicious scallops were also good but the rest not so much. It's hard to eat all fried and all seasoned the same except the crab cake ( a lot of veggies in it and not enough crab so you don't really eating à crab cake) I hope this helps

The fried catfish was breaded with cornmeal, perfectly crispy, also well seasoned and very moist and tender inside. Hush puppies which one of our hush puppy lovers said was the best she ever had (I'm not a fan of these overall so I can't really say). The potato salad was very good, creamy, with just a hint of onion and relish. Baked potatoes and sweet potatoes were enjoyed by all. Loved the crispy okra and green beans. Collard greens were also good. Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the pies. Caramel apple walnut was a little too nutty for me but it was still good. They key lime was my personal fave -- the crust was a good crumbly graham cracker that was definitely home made. We also had a lemon meringue and the chocolate coconut cream pie, which was essentially a half and half with chocolate cream and the bottom and coconut cream on the top. Both had beautiful, moist meringues with nicely toasted tops. On top of good food, we had a great waitress who was super attentive and very patient and friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and looking for some nostalgic, good southern comfort food.

Very southern I actually thought I might be in Georgia. Menu isn't too complicated and we were trying to keep this simple so here's what we ordered: Grilled chicken caprese. Just what it says. Layers of mozzarella and sliced tomatoes with grilled chicken on top drizzled with a balsamic reduction. If you want greens there's two pieces for decoration. I enjoyed this dish. Chicken was moist and had great flavor. I do wish there were a few more pieces on it for the price point. I felt I got about a third of the breast. Ivy Caesar Salad: my husband loves Caesar Salads and he said this was just ok. He didn't like that some of the pieces looked old. This salad was fine and not anything special. Raspberry Tea: very sweet with a weird tang. Didn't really seem like tea at all. Wouldn't get it again. Overall this place has great ambience even if it is rather pretentious and over the top. Staff is friendly and food came out at a reasonable amount of time. Not sure if I'd go there again. Lunch is pricey. Without tip this was a $40 meal and that included only one NA drink.

If you're not sure about anyone of those they are an appetizer to try before you get a dinner. We ordered the fried clam strips and frog legs. The clam strips were not rubbery or hard and had a good flavor to them. The frog legs meat fell off the bone and has the flavor of a light flavored fish with the texture of chicken. Most of us ordered the venison dinner that comes with two sides and Josh puppies. The venison was cooked to perfection and quite tender. This is by far the best venison I've ever had! I ordered a house salad and the okra n tomatoes. The gator tail meal was equally good not rubbery or hard. All the food was plentiful. The dessert is the best of all - sour orange pie! Think of key lime pie but made with oranges. It is a seasonal pie and we happen to be there when they had it. That is my absolute favorite dessert and I highly recommend!

As I approached the ordering counter, a middle-aged blonde woman was sorting silverware when she abruptly asked, "ARE YOU READY TO ORDER?" in an incredibly rude and condescending tone. Before I could even finish asking about the day's special, she snapped, "IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, STEP TO THE SIDE AND GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER!" I was genuinely speechless. The sheer hostility, arrogance, and complete lack of professionalism were astonishing. To speak to a customer in such a degrading manner, especially in front of other customers, is absolutely unacceptable. I wasn't being difficult. I wasn't causing a scene. I was simply trying to order food and ask about the daily special. Apparently, basic courtesy is too much to expect at Pearls. I walked out immediately, completely shocked and embarrassed by the interaction. What makes this particularly disappointing is that I've supported Pearls for nearly 15 years. Fifteen years of choosing this restaurant, spending my money here, and giving them my business, only to be treated as though my presence was an inconvenience. Pearls, you lost a 15-year customer in less than 30 seconds. And here's the thing: Customers should never have to earn the right to be treated with basic respect. Good food means absolutely nothing when the service leaves such a disgusting taste in your mouth.
