The menu included both meat and vegetarian options. The griot (pork), which I didn't have, was a huge hit. I personally enjoyed the lambi (conch) and rice with stewed veggies. There were also stuffed plantain cups and various fritters, which were passed around. The evening ended with a bread pudding infused with liquor (cremas). It was an excellent spread and Nadege was able to provide a sampling for us to try a few weeks prior to the event on short notice. She also printed these helpful signs for the guests to know what they were trying. This was particularly important since we wanted to highlight Haitian culture at the event. Overall, her staff was great and the food was excellent. I would definitely like to try her restaurant, Bonnan, in Brooklyn when I have a chance.

I recently attended a cooking class with my boyfriend. I had received a Groupon, which offered $40…read morefor an $80 class- so $80 total. We had ultimately signed up for it based on the reviews that we were seeing on Yelp, which is why I felt that I should post my own. Perhaps I set too high expectations for the class, and am partially to blame, but I was quite disappointed. Don't get me wrong- I had fun, but I probably would not have done it if I had known more about what I was getting myself into. Here are the things that I wish someone would have told me: 1) It takes an hour and a half from the UES to get here- the class is pretty far into Brooklyn The class is 4 hours. That is a total of 7 hours of your day. That is a bigger part of my weekend than I realized I was committing to when I first signed up. 2) The class is literally in a house. At first, my boyfriend and I thought we had the wrong place. 3) You do not have your own cooking station. You are chopping things up at a large table with about 20 other people. Then the instructor puts everything on the stove and cooks it. For me, getting the food cooked is the hardest part. I know how to cut fruits and vegetables. 4) The recipes are not that sophisticated. We cooked Uncle Ben's rice. Yes, we opened a box of rice and put it into a pot. To make it "homemade" we added cranberries. I should say though that I loved the instructor. She was very funny and knew what she was doing. Again, I did have a good time....but because I would never do it again, I am only giving it a 2 star rating.

Really good stuff, we order their catering for office meetings and usually get their traditional…read morefavorites platters. It comes with an assortment of sandwiches ranging from good to great. Some of them are your usual ham/turkey with cheese (albeit stacked with generous amounts of meat) but they have mozzarella mushroom sandwiches that are amazing and some sort of humus wrap that hits the spot. The highlight of the lunch menu is definitely the cookies. These are some of the best cookies i have ever had (with the exception of the mint ones, those look and taste gross, full disclosure: i dont like mint though). The chocolate chip ones are particularly good but the oatmeal raisin and macadamia ones are solid too. For breakfast, their pastries are excellent, especially their mini croissant and apple croissant things. Service is great, really accommodating, competent and friendly. If they get an address wrong, they usually look it up themselves and get it there without much hassle/delay. They are a really good value for what you get and i have yet to be disappointed. One tip I will give though is to look at their menu and select your side salad because if you don't make a selection sometimes they stick you with a lame one (none of them are bad but some are really good). They have a really good tomato mozzarella salad that cost the same as a regular green salad that you would normally get if you don't specify

We were located in a private room where the staff served the appetizer course on foot. The meal itself was incredible. I had a cut of steak that was the best I've ever had. The beer selection of lacking, but it's not a place you go for beer. Their liquor collection on the other hand was massive. The whiskey menu was also very thorough and satisfying. All in all, this place was amazing. I got a chance to look at an actual menu (our dinner was prix fix) and it was just mouthwatering. I would go back again...if I could afford it. EDIT: This weekend I received sad news that Bayard's is now closed. The chef left and the restaurant went under. Harry's Steak House downstairs is still open and I guess Bayard's itself is still open for private parties, but the restaurant is gone. Boo!

They helped us quickly plan the food for our cocktail hour and reception while adhering to numerous dietary preferences (from vegan to kosher to our picky eaters) and helping us formulate our vision for a "floating dinner." Our point person, Scott Parrish, was incredible. Patient, experienced, wise, insightful, helpful, Scott was incredibly consultative throughout the process and the results were fantastic. To start, the food was divine. Ultimately, what's more important than food?! Especially at a Jewish wedding. Thomas Preti is creative and serves up some incredible food from bite-sized appetizers like crab cakes and cacio e pepe bites, to chicken and waffles or short rib tacos paired with a shot of pomegranate vodka. We particularly loved their drink/food pairings like their "vodka latke" bar with latkes and of course, ice cold shots of vodka. With the food being delicious, all that's left is the presentation (10 out of 5 starts) and execution (20 out of 5 stars). The staff of Thomas Preti is wonderful. Attentive, professional, thoughtful and efficient. The food was plentiful and delicious, the staff were delightful. Word to the wise, do not sleep on the desserts; I'm still dreaming about their summer berry tartlet and the milkshake mug with a mini donut. I wish everyday of my life could be catered by Thomas Preti. We're so pleased with them and couldn't have asked for a better experience!!

The venue we booked had some pretty tasteless coffee/espresso so we HAD to find a solution. Melissa sent us some regular drip coffee to try before we committed and oh man, it was the most delicious coffee we have had! Needless to say we booked her right away. She was a hit at our wedding. People were loving the different varieties of drinks they could get. I had a hot chocolate and it was so light but delicious! My husband said the espresso was strong but in a really good way. The venue we had our wedding at actually took her business card because even he loved it! We are so happy to have found you Melissa! Thank you for being a part of our special day!

It was all on white table cloths with glass and floral/water displays. I wish I took close up photos. But we had coconut shrimp, steak, pizza, veal piccata, egg rolls, salads, fried ravioli, sushi and much more. It was a feast. Seriously a feast. Usually I have a lot of picky eaters who say something about the food. My family and friends can be tough to please. Everyone gave me resounding great reviews of the food this time. Kids and adults alike were happy. The food was cooked fresh on site. So nothing felt pre-cooked, cold or like it was sitting out. The display was elegant. They kept refreshing food stations as it was getting gobbled up. But because it was so elegant, even at the end of 5 hours when it was over. The whole place still looked great. I do a lot of events. Some caterers can be pushy about knowing what is best about what you should serve. Not Ellie, he made suggestions but he wanted to make sure I was happy. So everything we asked for he delivered and then some. He even handled our 12 grape tradition with ease. La Mila event included the waitstaff, the bartending and provided the tables, and both silver and glass displays for the food. I'm sharing photos of the overall venue and the grapes. Because I forgot to take photos of the food stations. I will see if any guests took some photos. But even I just dove right into to eat. But Ellie really made the event spectacular and delicious. I highly recommend La Mila and will definitely use him and his team in future. Thank you to all the La Mila team for an amazing New Years event. As well as your prompt and efficient clean up.

First and foremost, there was clearly not enough food for 50 people. When I asked if there was anymore, I was quoted the number of ounces in each serving and told that perhaps my guests should learn portion control 2. Kitty (Custom Café) arrived late - with her two children in tow. Setup was late - so food did not have enough time to warm up - cold vodka sauce on cold penne is not very appetizing. 3. The coffee station consisted of a Mr. Coffee machine behind the bar... no urn, no milk, no sugar. Just the machine and the bartender. When I spoke with her after the event, I think it was the lack of professionalism and her attitude that surprised me the most.....no acknowledgement on her part of how anything could have been done differently. In fact, she said that I was extremely rude to her and she had devoted more time that I deserved to addressing my concerns. Stay far away from this caterer.... and I use that term loosely!
