I purchased an in-home wine tasting event through Living Social and have never been so impressed (in a negative way) by a lack of professionalism, rudeness, and condescension from a business. I scheduled my event months in advance and planned to have some of my closest friends over to my house for an enjoyable evening. Two days before the event, a woman called me and rudely demanded I pay shipping and handling fees. I received an email when I booked my event that said: "Any unpaid invoices/gratuity can be paid at time of event," so I was a little confused by the phone call and put off by the woman on the phone. I promptly paid the S&H through PayPal. Then approximately 24 hours before my scheduled event, I received another phone call from the same woman saying that my event would have to rescheduled. She gave me a couple of options: I could move my event up two hours, I could reschedule my event entirely, or they could drop off the wine and platter. If anyone has ever hosted an event with more than 2 people, they know that it is nearly impossible to find a date AND time that works for everyone. The woman tried to tell me that by dropping off the wine and platter, I would be getting the whole experience for which I paid. When I told her this was not the case (the package includes an hour of wine instruction), I subsequently got a condescending lecture on how the three bottles of wine I would be getting are so premium that they cannot be bought in stores and that I was missing out on the deal of a lifetime. By cancelling I was missing out on a bargain that couldn't be had anywhere else and that I was a negative person whose attitude would not get her far in life. Not only does Sipping Pretty lack professionalism, they have also succeeded insulting their customer! read more

The consultant (Janette Wilson) was great. The actual in-home wine tasting was a lot of fun, informational, and very enjoyable. However, the customer service (excluding the actual consultant) was absolutely terrible. Vanessa was extremely rude and condescending all three times I had to speak with her over the phone. I absolutely would not have followed-through with scheduling the appointment, if I hadn't already spent the $75 for the groupon voucher. I called to pay my shipping and spoke with a gentleman who was supposed to email me a confirmation of the payment; that never happened. When I called back to ensure it was paid a few days later and spoke with Vanessa, she told me that they knew someone had called to pay the shipping, but they did not know who. So if I had not called back, I surely would not have been credited for making that payment and would have needed to reschedule my appointment as I was warned previously could happen. Not to mention, when I couldn't remember her name, and asked for a "Valerie", she scolded me and told that thinking her name was Valerie was "very offensive". I was also told that by Vanessa that I could pay the shipping online using Sipping Pretty's website, which is not true. I scoured the website and could not find how to do so. It's also frustrating that I was told to not only pay the shipping no more, no less than a week in advance (it would have been nice to be able to do that earlier), but to also be told that I need to call later and then TELL them that I paid it. There should be some way that the customer service can look to see if someone paid the shipping rather than me needing to do their job for them and tell them I did. In addition, after I scheduled my 2pm appointment, Vanessa told me that it was a good thing I did not pick the 8pm time because the consultants "get tired and cranky" if it's a later appointment. This absolutely makes me think that the event will be bad and that I will have a checked-out consultant who is going to be tired and not enjoy their job. All-in-all, it's very disappointing. I would love to recommend Sipping Pretty because of how fantastic our consultant (Janette) was and the actual fun of the event, but there is no way that it is worth the awful customer service. Unfortunately when people ask me about the tasting, I feel obligated to warn them of how horrible it was to get the appointment and payment squared away. I truly hope that this is addressed quickly, as it will certainly be a detriment since this also seems like a company that can benefit a lot (and perhaps rely a lot upon) repeat customers. read more

Save yourself a headache and PASS ON THEM. I purchased a LivingSocial Voucher thinking it would be a great way to get people together. I called twice, and emailed twice before I got a terse response 5 days later asking for the address to the private party; I responded within 2 hours. Not a word for 4 more days. I get an email saying the hold that was placed for me on my date/time expired(?) and that the time was no longer available (??!!) Sensing a bigger headache, I opted to just get a refund. Per Nadine, I could easily do this online which I did without issues. I received an email instantaneously from LivingSocial that the refund was being processed. Great! Within hours, the refund was CANCELLED because Sipping Pretty had marked the voucher as USED. FALSE. Perhaps I'm paranoid but it's difficult to think this wasn't done out of spite. So then I had to call LivingSocial to sort it out. LOVE LivingSocial-- they refunded me no problem. Do yourself a favor and DON'T bother with Sipping Pretty. They're far from professional. I will say i never got to host my party, even though i still have the guests coming to my house , we will find another activity. I haven't even had my wine tasting and I am over it. The three reviews written prior to mine are basically the same experience that I am having. Sipping Pretty was impossible to get in touch with to actually schedule....I even used their online contact info...nothing. The first lady I spoke with was nice and she also said all fees can be paid at the time of the event....Fast forward to this past Monday when I received a call that they had not received my wine shipment and asked if I paid the S&H... The woman I spoke with said she would call the distributor to ask if they could ship the wine and get back to me...It's now 2 day later and I haven't heard from her...my event is supposed to be this Friday night. I called last night during their 1-9 business hours and a gentleman answered and while he was as nice as he could be, he was not one of the consultants just an answering service...Called three times already today and no answer. I'm no longer looking forward to this event...if it even happens. The customer service is terrible, all of the extra fees were not disclosed up front on the deal....and let's be honest: there is zero chance this wine and cheese platter are worth the amount of time I have wasted trying to coordinate with Sipping Pretty. I could've just suggested that each of my friends bring a bottle of wine they would like to share and keep it moving.... Right after I finished this, they called and asked me to reschedule...so I told them to just let me get the platter and the wine and I would do the event myself. The in-home event itself was well done but unfortunately NOT WORTH THE HASSLE of dealing with the horrible customer service to schedule and plan your event. They are impossible to get a hold of and will avoid you and lie to you to not have to deal with issues they created. Perhaps Sipping Pretty should stick to clubhouse events alone because they clearly cannot handle the logistics that come hand-in-hand with hosting off-site events. I WILL NEVER AGAIN!!! The worst customer service I have ever had. I purchased my in-home painting party through Living Social. The first issue was I had difficulty reaching them initially to schedule an appointment and was close to calling LivingSocial and canceling my order. wish I would have. I left two messages on their voicemail and even attempted to show up in person at the location listed in the living social coupon. Which by the way was a restaurant and not the sipping pretty storefront. They have a sense update their location to a p.o.box address. After about a week the day before I was going to cancel I received a call. The rep was apologetic for a phone issues they were having and was more than happy to schedule my appointment for me. I quickly received a confirmation with instructions on what to expect for a wine tasting event. Problem was, my event was an in home painting party. Fast forward to several weeks before my scheduled event. I had mistakenly deleted my confirmation email so requested that they resend me a confirmation so I could be assured of the start time. They were quick to resend me a confirmation however it was not my confirmation it was for an event starting in the afternoon and while I was not certain of the time I knew it was to begin in the evening. I called surprisingly someone answered the phone and I explained the situation. I requested that the reservation be changed to 7 p.m. and was informed that there were no artists available during that time. after some further research it was determined that my initial reservation which she could see on file was for 7 p.m. and that it was mistakenly switched with someone else's reservation. she apologized and agreed to follow up with her manager to see how to fix the situation. when I asked her to send me a copy of the original confirmation that's when things got ridiculous. First she refused without providing any explanation other than she was going to work on fixing the mix up. Having seen past reviews about no shows and just general disorganization I was concerned that my reservation would get quote unquote lost and there would be no proof that I had originally scheduled for 7 and so just wanted to have something in writing. she became very hostile rude and at one point started yelling. when I confronted her on her poor customer service and the fact she was not speaking to me as if I was a paying customer her response was you were talking to me as if I'm not trying to help you. when I requested the number of the manager so that I could follow up she refused when I attempted to get clarification on when I receive a return phone call she declined to provide any specificity. I did receive a call back approximately two hours later apologizing for the mix up and in updated confirmation with the correct time. The actual painting event was ok. The level of artistic skill was moderate at most. Compare to my experience with such painting events as Paint Nite. I felt as though the artists kind of dialed it in. She admitted this was her fifth painting event of the evening and she was a bit tired. It showed. When passing out the campus is she was short one and instead of going back out to her car to get a box framed canvas she gave one of my guest a flat canvas. Also one of the canvases had a dent in it and she just brushed off stating we are going to paint over it anyway. We are paying for the event and the supplies, why not make sure we have everything we need. There was not a lot of instruction on how to paint. Most of the 2 hour event was spent with us watching her paint an attempting to replicate it our selves. That being said my friends and I are a fun bunch and had been drinking prior to her showing up so we had a good time in spite of everything. But as I started my review I would never recommend this company to anyone and most definitely never give them my money again. I purchased a living social deal for a in-home paint party and I secured my appointment through Nadine. I spoke with Nadine about wanting a sisterhood theme painting for my in-home party that was a celebration w/ my sorority sisters. I asked for specific things to be put in the painting and those things were not found in the sample. Nadine assured me that if I did not like the sample that we would have other sample paintings to choose from...fast forward to the day of the party. The event was supposed to start at 2pm...however the painter, Janette was an hour late. I attempted to call Sipping Pretty to find out the location of the artist w/o any success of reaching the staff. I was finally contacted by Janette an hour later telling me she was on her way...she finally arrived by 4pm. When she came in through the door the host and guests received straight attitude from the artist. I explained to the artist how Nadine told me I would have a choice of paintings to choose from, however the artist (Janette) told me she had prepared something and this was what going to be painted. I was dissatisfied with the quality of the work...it did not incorporate any of the things I asked for...I would not recommend their service or business to anyone. I had sipping pretty host an event in my home back in August after purchasing a groupon and I really enjoyed it. The host was friendly and knowledgable and she took time to answer questions but not bore us with tons of info or push products/brands. I admit that i was a little thrown by having to pay shipping fees for the wine, but they explained they didn't have a liquor license. Since i saved by purchasing a groupon, it helped offset that cost. My friends and I had a good time and i would do this again! read more

I must say that my event was tonight and my party and I enjoyed Janet so much we thought to post a review tonight. She was awesome! We are not new to wine and we all learned something new! Had a paint and wine party on Saturday April 25th, 2015. The consultant Janette Wilson was rude and very unprofessional. She was LATE and didn't even have the audacity to call or give us an ETA of her arrival. Needless to say she didn't show until an hour and 30 mins later. She had limited paint and didn't provide a step by step directions of the painting. SHE WAS JUST PAINTING! I wouldn't recommend this company Sipping Pretty because of Janette Wilson. My first experience with sipping pretty was two years ago when I contacted them to do it in home wine tasting party. The first thing they were incredibly difficult to reach and no one returned my calls. After numerous calls for information I finally spoke with a gentleman who was very pleasant and did set up the party. I heard nothing from them again until I called two days before the party. The consultant arrived late to my home but did get everything set up in time for the party and was very knowledgeable and everyone enjoyed themselves. I thought I would give them a second chance and have been trying to reach them for two weeks now to set up a wine and paint party. I continue to only get the answering machine during business hours and no one returns my call. NO SHOW - DO NOT USE!!! I purchased a Living Social deal for an in-house painting party for a surprise party. It only took 2 calls and an email to set up the date almost 2 months in advance of the party date....however, the consultant was a no show. The day of the party, I arrived at the house to set up and I mentioned to the other hosts that it was interesting that the restaurant we were going to diner at called and confirmed our reservation, but I didn't receive a confirmation for the painting party. An hour later, 20 min before the party was to start, I check my phone and I receive a one line text saying my painting person was in a car accident and I would get a call from the main office shortly to reschedule. I immediately called the main office since there was no option of rescheduling. Needless to say, I never got an answer and 2 weeks later, I still haven't gotten a call back. I would have more sympathy for the no show if this was a one woman show, however, it's not. They need to have backup plans in cases of emergencies because when you are providing parties, you can't leave 10 people waiting for something that is never going to come. Now I am waiting for them to figure out how to refund me because the surprise party is over. read more

Wow...where do I begin. I did not use this "company" and thank goodness I did not. I attempted to call them several times to no avail. I decided to email them, on a Monday, wanting to check the availability for that Sunday. I received a return email on Tuesday stating they would check the schedule. I did not hear back from them until the Saturday before my event by an extremely poor written email with all types of errors only to tell me that my email went into their spam mail. What? However,I did find another sip and paint establishment and had a wonderful time. I decided to let them know how unprofessional their customer service was only to receive a reply telling me that my email had errors. What? Instead of being apologetic and accommodating, Nadine decided to be petty, unprofessional and rude instead. All of this after I was told not to use them by someone else. Do not use this "company"! I would give this company zero (0) stars if I could. BEWARE "WARNING" Do not purchase the Sipping Pretty Living Social Deal. I purchased the deal. Booked my party and received confirmation. I never heard from anyone from Sipping Pretty after that. A few days before my party I contacted the restaurant they used as the address listed on the voucher. I was able to get a name a telephone number other than the one listed on the voucher. I proceeded to call the number and spoke with Janette. She stated she had my party date on her calendar and she would be the one to facilitate my party. She explained how Living Social had canceled their contract and told them they are not to contact any clients. I was so happy to hear my party was still going to take place. She asked me to text my email address to her and I did. That was the last I ever heard from her. She did not return my calls after that one conversation. I contacted Living Social who tried numerous times to contact a representative from Sipping Pretty, to no avail. I purchased an in-home "sip and paint" event from Living Social and have never been more frustrated with a professional event planning organization! Entirely too stressful and time consuming for a small event!!!! And they never showed up!!!! My event was planned approximately 1 month before the event date (date and time selected by Sipping Pretty rep). One week prior to the event I called to confirm the details. After multiple attempts to reach them, I finally got through to the same rep that set up my event and she informed me that the evening had been double booked by another agent. After explaining how their scheduling system enables multiple representatives to book the same night she tells me that the other event is at a restaurant with 200 people expected and they will have to have all of their artists at this event. And during the conversation, the rep was not apologetic at all, actually seemingly surprised why I was so upset by my event being potentially cancelled due to a flaw in their scheduling system. By the end of the conversation she indicated that she might be able to contact another artist to lead my event and she would call me the following day. After 2 days without a follow up call, I contacted them and was informed (by same rep) that they were still working on it and it appeared the restaurant event might not be well attended so they might have sufficient artists available. She informed me that the owner was going to call me back to confirm (never happened). After another 2 days, I again contacted them, still not certain if my event was going to be canceled. I was hugely relieved. This was 2 days prior to my event and at that time I was provided with the artists name and confirmed arrival time and event start time. The following day (one day prior to event) I received voicemail from the rep asking me to call her back to confirm Living Social voucher number and other details. I returned the call and we reviewed the event details one final time. At 2 pm on the day of the event I received a voicemail telling me that the original artist would not be able to come out due to car problems she experienced 4 days prior and they had a new artist coming but she would not be able to arrive until 8 pm (plus set up time after that) which would be 1.5 hrs after original start time. At this point we are hours from the event, I just want SOMETHING to happen, I have 9 guests that are expecting a fun painting night! I call back and this is the first time they are actually apologetic and acknowledge that it has been an extremely disorganized and chaotic event coordination. The rep tells me she will send a bottle of wine as a peace offering. Too little too late in my head but I graciously accept and say that I understand it's not HER fault. THE ARTIST NEVER SHOWED UP, I NEVER RECEIVED A CANCELATION CALL. I am baffled how this organization is in business. read more

The woman who did the tasting was knowledgeable and did a good job of keeping the guests entertained. She even did a good job stalling for time waiting for one of the late guests to arrive. I only chose 1 star because there is not a ZERO rating. Horrible customer service. I booked an in home paint party 6 wks ago. My first attempt at booking a party was a bit challening. It took several days for someone to return my phone calls. Once someone did call me back, she was very apologetic about the delay and was very accommodating with my scheduling. I didn't hear anything further for weeks. Several days prior to the party, i made numerous calls to confirm that everything was a go. I received no return call after about 6 calls and a not so exciting email someone called me back to assure that everything is a "go". Now I'm prepared for 9 ladies to have an exciting girls night in. I purchased and decorated wine glasses, gifts for my guests, specialty cupcakes, cheese, fruit, and a nice spread to experience a wonderful summer evening. Guess what?!?!? NO CONSULTANT. I received a call 30min prior to my party start time from a "customer service" rep stating my consultant was pulled over by the police and unable to drive to my location. I offered for someone to come and pick her up for the customer service rep to say her location was unknown. She stated she would make attempts at locating another consultant and would call me in 20min. One call back 35 min later to say someone could be to me possibly by 9.30. My response, thats not good enough, my set up for painting and girls night is on my largely spaced deck and it will be dark by 9.30 which does not allow ample lighting. Her response "well something is better than nothing". She offered to try one additional consultant and would call me back. I have not heard back and its now 4hrs later. Now lets see what kind of fight i have to go through for a refund. This company will not have a second chance. DO NOT USE!!! read more

Was looking forward to my in home wine tasting event, which I purchased as a living social deal. When I called to schedule, I was told there was a $15 wine delivery fee. Really! Why? "Because we dont have any wine here in the store." And how is that my problem?? This fee was not disclosed in the Living Social Deal. The owner was extremely rude with me as I tried to explain the practice of disclosing additional fees in the fine print. I was told how if I were in the wine profession, I would know that this is normal practice AND that a gratuity of at least $40 is HIGHLY recommended. As I again tried to explain that all of this should have been disclosed so that the customer could decide if the deal was worth it, she proceeded to tell me that I wanted some kind of bargain. Yes, that's why I purchased a Living Social deal. You, the owner, apparently arranged with Living Social to provide a bargain to get business. I guess she forgot. My main issue was her rudeness when all she had to say was she apologized that all of the fees weren't disclosed. I might have moved forward and paid the fees. She not only lost out on me as a customer, who was genuinely excited to host the wine tasting for my friends, but also on the additional business she could have received. If I could do negative stars - I would. I purchased an in-home paint party through Living Social and I wish I had read these other reviews about their customer service before I purchased it. First of all, in APRIL 2015, I scheduled an in-home party for a Saturday in June. I did not receive a confirmation email until 2 days prior to the party date, which is fine, but I had made a few phone calls prior to this and never received a call back, just an email. My party was to start at 12:00pm on Saturday - I had guests who had driven 2 hours from another state to attend. At 10:38am I receive an email (not a phone call or text) from Janette Wilson who was assigned to do my party telling me she is waiting for her car to get out of the shop and can we push the party to 1:30pm. I emailed her back because no one ever gave me her contact info and told her it was fine and to call or text me if she had anymore problems along with my cell number. Expecting that since she had my cell phone number she would call me back so I didn't check my email again until 1:38pm, but apparently, at 12:14pm, she had emailed me again telling me she's still waiting and that her cell phone is out of battery and she would call me when it's charged (really?!) I email her telling her that we are still waiting and that my guests are from out of town, 2 hours away. Since then I never heard from her again. I emailed and called their "customer service" line, no response, no apology, no email, and it is now Tuesday. Other reviews on search sites also mention several bad experiences, so my recommendation is to stay away from this company. Thankfully, I have to say that after I explained my ordeal to Living Social - they promptly refunded me plus gave me an additional $15 voucher to spend on other deals that they offer.
