I went to celebrate my birthday. The concept is great and we had a lot of fun. The staff is very helpful and patient. If I could suggest one thing to new patrons is to make sure you slowly turn the orange knob on the box to fully develop all of the film. For the amount of money, only getting 5 out of 20 negatives was disappointing. All of my exposures didn't come out and I was not able to fully appreciate my experience. Best Date Night Experience in National Harbor! "My partner and I were looking for something different to do in National Harbor, and Sip & Develop exceeded all our expectations! We booked the Mini-Photo Shoot & Develop package, and it was hands down the most creative and fun date we've had in years. The professional photographer was amazing - made us feel comfortable and captured some beautiful shots of us. But the real magic happened in the darkroom! Learning how to develop our own photos was fascinating. The staff was so patient explaining each step of the process, and watching our images slowly appear in the developer was like witnessing pure magic. The atmosphere is perfect - modern yet cozy, and being able to sip on drinks while we worked made it feel like a sophisticated night out with a creative twist. Our 5x7 prints turned out stunning, and we now have these gorgeous black-and-white photos that feel so much more special than anything digital. What I loved most was how educational it was without feeling like a classroom. We learned a real skill while having an absolute blast. The 90-minute session was perfectly timed - long enough to really get into the process but not so long that we got tired. This is definitely going to be our new go-to for special occasions. Brought my partner here as a surprise for date night and we both enjoyed our experience, first time developing analog film. We started out with a quick mini shoot session against their backdrops (regular photography backdrop then a hedge wall) then purchased a bottle of wine and sat for the class. Staff were very knowledgeable. Owner was friendly and informative, liked how he made the class interactive. Favorite part was the dark room, super cool to see the black and white images develop in the solution. Hardest part was definitely choosing which photos we each wanted to develop (one each)! We got the add on where they email you digitized photos of your shoot for $25. They also had a 360 video booth which was fun. Suggestions for improvement: 1. Offer a complimentary glass of wine/beer with each ticket. (The business name led me to think the alcohol was included). 2. On the confirmation page after customers purchase tickets through your website, it says "order processing" which may lead customers to wonder if their reservation is booked or not- suggest changing to "order confirmed/successful". 3. Find some way to spice up the bio a bit at the start of the class- rather than reading off a sheet lecture style, suggest showing a fun video as visuals are always more engaging. Would I recommend? Definitely, especially if you've never done anything like this! read more

I absolutely loved this experience. I am a photographer and I can truly say the experience was one I will never forget. We learned everything from start to finish. The staff was great they took their time explaining everything to us and helping us as we went along. You are able to take home prints when you leave and they will email you the additional ones within a few days. Came here for date night and what a wonderful experience! Right on the corner of Fenton Street in downtown silver spring, when you walk in, you will be instructed to check in at the large desk area. From there you're seated and presented a menu where you can order drinks and snacks. We had dinner reservations for right after this activity, so we opted in ordering a bottle of wine to share (they don't do it by the glass). From there, you and your partner/group will have a photo shoot against two different backdrops - I found this part to be a lot of fun! Next, one of the instructors will now walk you through developing the photos that have been taken from scratch. After that, you're taken to the dark room to select two photos of your liking from the photo film to fully develop. I learned a lot from the activity, and safe to say I have a new found appreciation for the art of print photography. Sip and Develop unfortunately will be relocating to the National harbor area in December, so I highly suggest you check it out if you haven't. read more

Sip & Develop - Event Photography Near Me - Oxon Hill, Maryland

In July, my partner and I, took a little trip down to silver springs Maryland primarily because we wanted to try this spot! AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We had such an incredible time. We went on a Friday early afternoon and the staff was just so nice and incredible. They did a little photo shoot of us- together and separate! I DO NOT LIKE BEING PHOTOGRAPHED but they did such a wonderful job of hyping us up and getting us comfortable. They gave us some poses to look at and really walked us through the whole thing. Then they gave us the negatives - taught us how to develop, and we got to develop our very own photos. It was so cool and really brought out the creative side of me. It was such a fun experience for us both and made our trip so memorable. We got to see just how they get developed and do it ourselves!! You don't need any experience - they will help you through every step. All the staff there is so sweet and they have amazing taste in music. 10/10 would recommend and will be doing again read more

Today proved that big things, do come in small packages. I was walking up Fenton street in silver spring to grab something to eat and noticed the most eye catching storefront. I decided to step inside because who doesn't want to get more details with a name like "Sip & Develop"! When entered I was greeted by a bubbling staff, who was excited to explain the gem they have on Fenton street. I appreciated that it just wasn't about giving me a flier. I was able to tour the dark room and see how visitors who sign up for this great event, create amazing "reel" live work(get it), that goes on in the dark room. Wait until you see the front space, it's a must see. They have a 360 camera! Guest can hang out in the lounge area before going on to take photos and guided into development of the actual real live film. This is a great concept for our children, who never knew what it was like, to put your film in the shop and wait a week for them to come back in your hand. I am amazed. It's 2022 and I can now both develop my black&white negatives AND go into their darkroom to make prints? Outstanding! I can sip on a frosty beverage at the same time?! This place is so coooooool. The staff was knowledgeable and kind and made sure I left with a huge smile on my face... AND an actual 8x10 print I made with my own hands. My girlfriend thought it was one of our best dates ever. We will definitely be back to print more and attend a future master class. :) read more

I would really love to give this black-owned business a good review, but I can't because they've been treating me like a second class citizen since I had to reschedule my reservation. They're rescheduling policy is terrible and it's just a great way for them to keep your money. My rescheduled date was a week before my original time, and I made the adjustment at least a week before the new date. They let me know that I could reschedule my appointment, but there were no guarantees that they wouldn't get filled up the day of. The day of I get a call an hour before my reservation saying that they're all booked up and they tell me to come for the next time slot 4 hours later and I agree. Then they call to cancel on me again. Seems like they could just keep rescheduling you indefinitely. The only way I can get my money's worth is to make a reservation in the middle of the week and hope that nobody comes in that day and takes my spot. And my reservation was only for two people. I was really looking forward to going to this place for my birthday, but now it seems like the only way I can go is if I pay them again, and thats dead! So if you go, just make sure you don't have to cancel your appointment because then they'll just take your money. read more
