    Sunkissed Roll
    Nicole W.

Went for lunch with a friend based off the reviews on here. The plaza was a little dingy but inside the restaurant was cute, clean, and nice. The sushi was a little different than other places. The rolls were absolutely huge and not priced high. The fish was fresh but it seemed too wet or something? The rolls didn't stay together well and the fish (especially spicy tuna) was seeping out of the rice. The shrimp tempura roll was more of a dish than a roll. The dishes were a little beat up with chips in some of the platters. The man who took our order was pleasant and nice. Overall the fish was fresh and tasty but not sure I would go back. I guess just different than what I'm used to and like in rolls.

Did a review last year ! Came back with updated picture because singos is still fantastic & delicious it will forever remain on my top 2 in the greater Waterbury area for sushi!! Hot night roll and Victoria secret are the best !! I also love the Cole role! A great authentic small local business!

This is the only place I eat sushi. Singo is a sweetheart and everything I have ever eaten has been amazing.

    Philadelphia roll

Singo is close to where I live and I'm so happy I finally tried it. Everything is served in such an aesthetically pleasing way, and the portions are a little bigger than average. I got the Philadelphia roll, and was pretty excited about the fact that they include avocado on it. The salmon on it was a little warm, which was kind of off putting, but the sushi itself was still really good. We also split a bowl of edamame, which had the perfect touch of salt. I was pretty full by the end of the meal, and was almost ready to pay and go, when I discovered the tempura ice cream. I quickly ordered one for us to split, which was a great decision on my part. It was absolutely delicious and was such a good way to end the meal. The staff here is friendly and I really enjoyed coming here!

    General Tso Chicken

Not what I expected when I ordered general tso chicken for my first Grubhub order every. No rice white or otherwise, no real sauce, overcooked chicken. Second shrimp dish also overcooked.

The sushi rolls were fresh, delicious, and the service was very quick! They are also great about having Gluten Free options, my sister who has Celiac Disease forgot the gluten free soy sauce but they had it there! They also had a lot of gluten free special rolls which you don't always find. It is a casual vibe

Jen is the best! Takeout with pictures drawn of each roll. Now that's service.

Flavors: 5 stars all day, every single time. Variety is alive and well. There's a huge selection of fish, sauces, ingredients. You name it, it's on the menu. It's a fusion of traditional sushi and creativity that is worth the money and wait. But....very unreliable with the composition of the role depending on who is making the roll. I am a sushi fanatic, and highly recommend singo, but it takes a lot away from the meal if the roll is falling apart before you get it to your mouth. The inconsistency of the crafting of the rolls makes this 3.5 stars for me.

    Chicken Oriental Salad

I love this place and I eat here almost on a weekly basis. This place gives you something like a hipster vibe with Food Network always on the TV and top radio hit on the speaker. As for the food their sauces are fantastic. I love the chicken teriyaki roll and there gourmet spring mix salad with the ginger dressing is delicious! Today I decided I was wanted something with chicken on it so I ordered the chicken oriental salad. Unfortunately to my surprise they had drenched my salad with the dressing and my salad was wilted. This isn't the first time they have made a mistake with my order and that is not a reason to take a star but putting dressing on a takeout salad is just standard. I will continue to support Singo Sushi and so should everyone else because they have been around for years and they have great food. Tip: Always put sauces on the side regardless of takeout or eat in.

Sushi looked like dog food. Unfortunately I spent close to $75 on rolls and all the tuna rolls had tuna that looked like it was minced or mashed up. No fresh slices of tuna and could not eat this. Will never go here again.

    Singo's garlic edamame

"Creative and Amazing" Sitting in the middle of an unassuming little plaza in Wolcott, CT. is the most amazing sushi restaurant. A friend of mine has been telling me for a while now how great the sushi is at Singo's. I expected to see the typical dated decor in most asian restaurants. Red velvet walls with dusty asian trinkets all around. Far from it at Singo's. It's bright, clean, and modern. And the Sushi.....WOW !!! We began with green tea and the garlic edamame. These garlicky super flavorful little treats are more addictive that potato chips. Then we had a few items from the chalkboard of specials. We had the "Sexy Roll". Tuna, spicy crab, avocado, wrapped in cucumber served with ponzu sauce. Then we had the Spicy Tuna Tartare. Spicy tuna, jalapeno, red onion, and avocado. My friend doesn't like extra spicy food like I do so I ordered the "Hot Night II". Spicy tuna, jalapeno, red onion inside, pepper seared tuna outside. This roll blew my mind. Outstanding, sensational, amazing, delectable, delicious, incredible, creative, spicy, exquisite. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I have never had a sushi roll this great. Everything was very good, but that "Hot Night II" roll was over the top. My next visit can't come soon enough.

What's left of the sunset roll.

It was a humble reminder that you don't need to go to a culinary destination to find good food. Cheshire Connecticut may not be known for its food scene, however, I found Sakana was a genuine diamond in the rough. My expectations were admittedly low going in. My level of skepticism is always high when I see the "Asian Bistro" moniker, as it is frequently used for restaurants to try to appeal to the masses at the expense of quality by having a "jack-of-all-trades" menu that lacks the technical intricacies and mastery required for specific dishes. Additionally, these establishments tend to follow a "cookie-cutter" menu and offer the same boring dishes you can find at every other Asian Bistro. Even when initially walking towards the restaurant, I had my doubts. The exterior of Sakana honestly looked more like a clinic than a restaurant. Once I saw the menu however, my skepticism shifted towards optimism. For a local bistro, they feature a surprisingly extensive wine and cocktail menu, including premium sake options. I was particularly impressed to find toro on the menu; although it's undoubtedly becoming more of a trend in Connecticut, I was nevertheless happy to see it offered at Sakana as well. Overall I liked their sushi selections and everything I ordered was well-prepared and tasted fresh. We ordered a chicken and broccoli for our daughter and found the chicken tender and broccoli perfectly cooked. That may not sound impressive to those reading, but you'll be surprised how many restaurants fail to execute this baseline dish correctly. The service, although pleasant, was probably the only "weak link" of our experiences here. The quality of service was noticeably inconsistent between our two visits, and they would benefit vastly from having a more reliable and experienced front-of-house team to match the execution coming from the kitchen and sushi bar. Despite this minor gripe, Sakana was a standout. As long as I'm in the area, they will definitely be among the top of my list of places to eat!

So friendly. Is the food exceptional? To me no, but my parents enjoy it. Tonight we started with crab rangoons. Pretty good. Sauce on the side not very exciting. A chili sauce would be better. I got a sushi roll with White tuna inside and cooked shrimp on top and wasabi mayo. I forget the name of the roll but it was better than the two times I've ordered takeout. Miso soup was also good. Their soup bowls are in the shape of a heart which is super cute. Dad got some sort of a mixed protein dish with brown sauce (had shrimp, chicken and beef). Mom got the chicken and garlic sauce. They both got fried rice on the side. I tried it and it was very bland. Dad also got a salad with his meal and the ginger dressing was not very good. Red coloring to it. Usually ginger dressing is more on the orange side. Dad also got the Malaysian chicken coconut soup to start and it could use a bit more flavor. Was a bit watery. Mom loved her sweet and sour soup. Nice that this place is 5 minutes away. Cheshire needs more restaurants. Def not my fav restaurant in town though. Food to me is just ok.

OK, I hope he wiped his hands and none of that crap went into the sushi roll he was making. Anyways, out came the soda and the miso soup. The miso soup was served in a plastic bowl about 3/4 of the way up. Also included was a plastic soup spoon. Looking around, this place was decent inside. Why would they be serving in plastic bowls with plastic utensils? This made no sense but OK. Out came the devil roll, and it looked like sushi, except it had this weird red spam like texture stuff on the top of it. I had no clue what it was.
