Then in May I came in for more pills because she was not better. In Nov. it was unbearable with the sweet little dog was coughing all day and night. When I took her back the W. Mobile vet they quoted me $500 to run tests to "maybe" figure out what it is. WELL I HAD HAD ENOUGH!! Enter 2nd opinion VET.... I have a relative that lives in Mobile, AL but drives out to Dr. Karl & Kelli Smith in Lucedale, MS for her pet because the fees are so fair and they know what they are doing concerning her pet. So I walked out of the West Mobile Vet and made an appointment in Lucedale, MS. When we arrived (50 minutes - 38 miles) from my home-- the place was very busy with folks and their pets waiting and popping in to buy various medications for their pets. Jennifer at the front desk runs a tight ship and is non stop. We did have to wait but it was well worth it. They took x-rays, gave a shot straight into her throat and other medications. I walked away with an diagnoses about her health and medications and the total bill was only $121 This VET is concerned about your pets, well trained and DO NOT OVER PRICE for their services. We are moving both our pets their. Thankful for this Vet!! Their email address is: gcvet39452@yahoo.com

I needed a refill on his heartworm medication and last time I ordered it from their pharmacy even thou it was $5.00 more than Chewy. The tech mentioned another brand that was $5.00 more and I said ok. I am very anxious to check out (1/2 hr. in room waiting before anyone came) The invoice came to $539.27 I wasn't sure I heard her right but thought that I figure it out at home. Today I tried to return the unopened box ($256.73) to order what he had been taking $75.49 and they refused as the box had left the building.

My time is very valuable if i have an appointment at 3.00 i should be seen at 3.00. This place has gone down hill so bad i am finding another vet for my three dog and i have been a customer for more than 20 years!! you would think that they would treat 20 year customers better than they do! but in the end it's all about the money now with this new crew! What doctor Selig created there with making the customer feel at home is gone!!! And i just don't like the way i am treated there! I don't ask for much but after being a customer with three dogs for 20 plus years i am treated like the new customer that just walked in the door! And i have spent a ton of money here more than most people ever would!!!! so see you later new generation people who have no customer or people skills!!

I had to drive 2+ hours from Jackson, MS to Hattiesburg to Animal Medical Center on April 29, 2024…read morefor emergency surgery. My Golden Retriever, Max, was bleeding into a splenic mass and was anemic. He was 11-12 years old. I am a physician, an anesthesiologist for over 40 years, so I understood the gravity of the situation. Even before I arrived, Dr. Mayfield, II, called me on the phone to check on us. When we arrived, the employees immediately carried him out of my car for emergency surgery for treatment and diagnosis. Dr. Mayfield thoroughly discussed what we would do if the diagnosis was dire. They started blood and took him back to surgery within 30 minutes. The diagnosis was dire: he had a splenic mass full of tumor, with metastasis to his pancreas, liver, bowel, and kidney. Dr. Mayfield called me and took me back to surgery to see Max under anesthesia, and I said my goodbyes and let him go.... Dr. Mayfield then spent additional mourning moments with me and was very kind. I then made cremation arrangements and delivery of the remains to me. I also asked for histology on the tumors, as I had lost another Golden, Luka, age 13 or14, to hemangiosarcoma last year. Dr. Mayfield called me about 2 weeks later to say the pathologist reported high-grade lymphoma. The entire treatment, including the cremation, was very expensive--about $4000. As a physician, I understand the high costs of surgery, blood transfusion, anesthesia and other veterinary technicians. Everyone at the Center was extremely kind to me throughout my ordeal at their clinic. I was so thankful that there was a full-service surgery/ICU clinic available to me on that day. From the moment I arrived there, I felt that Max would be well-cared for by Dr. Mayfield and his staff, and he was.

They took our money with a smile and knew the outcome would never be good, i spent nine thousand dollars for spinal surgery for one week later to be told the obvious, that the hope of him walking again is gone and not only that............he has a fever, possible bladder infection, and that the stiches are infected on the inside of the wound. and wanted to charge me even more money to treat that. Fucking amazing that these people can sleep at night knowing that they take advantage of of people that want a better life for their pets. I will never say a good word regarding this establishment or Dr. Mayfield. They Fucking suck, truely suck.
