BEWARE of this doctor. Short summary of my review I would not recommend this doctor because of lack…read moreof cleanliness, no professionalism, money minded, misdiagnosis and her clinic does not feel like a Pediatric Clinic at all. For more details read my full review below. I do not write review but this time I need to for this doctor. We first met this doctor when my wife found out about her and we met her in person before our first son was born. She seemed nice when we met her and gave her phone number in the beginning. Her Old Bridge/Matawan Clinic also did not have a lot of patients that time so we were first of the few patients. She was insisting on checking out her reviews constantly when we met her first time so we were bit skeptical and I feel she must have bought those reviews now as I doubted them before. We thought of giving her a try as she seemed a younger pediatrician with modern science knowledge and also she gave her personal phone number which we though would come handy if he gets sick. After our son is born we would go to her for well visits and I was not aware that well visit are covered by insurance but she would ask us for co pay at the end. She would also say she only takes Cash and no Credit Card which we were fine with but seemed unprofessional. She also did not have her secretary at the Old Bridge/Matawan Clinic and she would be the one doing all of the clerical work as well and tell us to hold the child while she gives vaccine. We put up with that as well because she gave us time and her clinic used to always be empty so we would not have to wait which was her plus point. One thing I did not like about her is her asking for copay which seems unprofessional. One time we did not have cash and only $100 bill so she did not give us change and told us she will give change next time since we were coming up for follow up. I did not mind as we were going to her again after 2 days but that seems unprofessional of a doctor to take money first before giving service or not having change. Issues got worse when our son got older as we noticed he got sick 2 days after we would visit her clinic. After that every time we visit her clinic we bathe our son so that he doesn't catch any germs from her clinic and also avoid sitting in her chairs or leave anything on floor as her clinic is not cleaned. She or her assistants do not even tear the paper roll on which patients sit. She also has one common weight scale and same waiting area for sick and well kids making it higher chance they get sick. When our son got older I constantly avoided going to her which is a sign to change doctors. Few things I disliked about her is that she also did not have all the vaccines in her clinic and would make us come every month instead of 2 months, 4 months, etc. schedule which is how normally well visits are done. She called us every month so that she can charge us for co pay. One time she did not have vaccine and we went to her clinic on Sunday as follow up to give the vaccine. She also is not a sound Doctor which is why I finally decided to switch. She gets over excited and scared us and forced us to go to Hospital one time when the situation was not serious. She did it again second time which is why we decided to switch as her diagnosis were wrong and she unnecessary prescribed antibiotics first time we were hospitalized and the doctors at hospital told us to stop the antibiotics. She also unnecessarily prescribed steroid and our son was doing good so we did not give and he got alright and she checked 2 days later and said see how steroid cleared his lungs and we told her that we did not give steroid and she was surprised. So either she did not listen to the lungs carefully or steroid was prescribed unnecessarily. With out second son we went to her and we had bad experience as well where she scared us about our sons weight not increasing by 2 weeks. That was the time we were considering switching. Our younger son does recover well from colds so we do not go to her often but besides well visits. We quietly decided to leave her and went to another doctor as I always kept track of what vaccines were given when and their vital signs because I knew incase we decide to switch it will come in handy as the doctor did not deliver us the medical records even after contacting her secretary for the records. We gave them a written notice to request the medical records politely and they charge $20 per patient and we were fine to even pay that which seems wrong to charge. But even after 3 weeks we have not received the medical records. I do not care and disputed her charges as she only gave us Vaccine records and no vitals or any other records. So if you care about medical records do not go to her and she is playing games with us so that we cannot switch doctors easily. We have helped this doctor out and been kind and on time and never skipped appointments but to anyone considering her DONT.

The process was seamless and our daughter barely cried. While there, I casually asked Dr. Shukla about my daughter's eczema. My own pediatrician insisted the severity of the rash was normal and provided some ointment that didn't seem to be working. Dr. Shukla stated the rash definitely needed to be treated or it would get worse. After deciding to switch the nature of our trip to a "sick visit," Dr. Shukla examines our daughter and advised us that we were given the incorrect medication. She prescribed a different ointment indicating that it would clear up the severe atopic dermatitis within 2-3 days. On the whole, Dr. Shukla was extremely comprehensive, examined my daughter's entire body and took pictures to upload to her file. Dr. Shukla also showed us websites with pictures and articles to help us better understand what we were dealing with. She even gave us recommendations on a daily skin care regimen for to begin once the eczema cleared up. We left feeling hopeful since our daughter had been clawing at her face for weeks with no relief. Here we are 4 days later and our daughter's skin is completely healed. We are so grateful for Dr. Shukla, her knowledge, and her professionalism. Needless to say we have switched pediatricians!

In conversations before the bris, I knew that my friend was nervous about the process, the ceremony, and the actual circumcision. I can say with confidence that Dr. Rumbak put the family's mind at ease both with her expertise and her gentle approach. As a "spectator" at the ceremony, Dr. Rumbak passed around sheets so we can all follow along and feel part of the ceremony, and explained what different blessings meant. She also added some Jewish text in a modern and relevant way, which I appreciated, and my family continued to discuss post ceremony. The sweet baby did super well and was calm throughout the entire process. Truthfully, I didn't even know when the actual circumcision actually happened because she was so gentle and discrete. At the end of the ceremony, many people went up to Dr. Rumbak to compliment her on one of the best brit mila's they ever went to, and many asked for her card (including my mom for our temple!). She has a great business partner in Shachar, who socialized with the guests of the ceremony, kept everything organized, and was just an all around stand up guy. Oh, and how great that she is a mohel AND a doctor. Talk about putting your mind at ease..that will definitely do it. Highly recommend.

Would have loved so much to give a glowing review of Dr. Rumbak but unfortunately we look back on…read morethe day of my son's bris and what transpired after with a lot of sadness. Dr. Rumbak deserves credit and thanks for her discretion in not circumcising our son the day of his bris due to a urological condition she noticed in her ore-ceremony examination. We are thankful for that. She performed what essentially worked out to a baby naming ceremony for us. Obviously the day was emotional to begin with and the news she couldn't circumcise was extremely disappointing and heartbreaking since this was a day we looked forward to for so long. In the days after the bris we were able to absorb the events better and realized exactly what happened. To begin with, my wife asked for a program to keep as they were being collected (yes, collected), and the response was, "I collect them." She said the same to my mom (baby's grandma). We consider this ridiculous - even if the baby's grandparents couldn't have one, at least the parents should. When I emailed Dr. Rumbak about the issue I'm about to describe, I also mentioned the program and that part of my email was left unaddressed. Here's the major problem, though. We paid $800 for a circumcision plus $150 for travel from Manhattan to Nassau. We were happy to do this because we really liked Dr. Rumbak on the phone. However, after the bris, we had a bit of a realization that really irked us. Why were we never offered any kind of refund for the circumcision not being performed? It really should have been offered that day, on the spot, but it wasn't. Days and weeks turned to months and we still were never offered anything. We didn't even get an email or phone call to check on our son given the medical issue Dr. Rumbak identified. This was surprising given the emotional nature of the day but also because part of Dr. Rumbak's service (advertised on her web site and vouched for in her reviews) is her frequent follow up with the family. Finally after a few months, I emailed her explaining we feel we are owed some kind of refund due to the most critical part of the ceremony, the circumcision, not being performed. It is that expertise for which we paid. Dr. Rumbak issued a $200 refund, saying that the rate for a baby naming is $600. It's unfortunate such a beautiful day was soured by the experience we had. As new parents we feel we were, in a way, taken advantage of. Dr. Rumbak did ultimately give some money back, but we feel we shouldn't have had to ask. Experiences like this are what make people cynical about organized religion. The right thing to do would have been to give us a refund without us having to ask. We would not recommend her.
