Park Avenue Desserts - More Than Just a Sweet Stop! Rating:…read more4.5/5 This charming café may be known for desserts, but Park Avenue Desserts deserves a bigger spotlight for the wide range of goodies it offers! From gorgeously made cakes to indulgent pastries and local favorites with a twist, this place is a hidden gem for any sweet tooth or carb lover. Let's talk sweets and treats! Here are some standout items that caught my eye and taste buds: Dark Chocolate Clusters - Crunchy cornflakes generously coated in rich Belgian dark chocolate (PHP 225). Addictively good and perfect for gifting or munching during a Netflix night. Molten Brownie Bites - Rich, gooey, fudgy brownies (PHP 260 for 8 pieces). They taste homemade but have that polished, luxurious finish. Brookies - A brownie and chocolate chip cookie in one bite? Yes, please! (PHP 290). The best of both worlds, chewy and chocolatey. Ensaymada Queso de Bola & Cheddar - Fluffy, buttery, and topped with a generous amount of shredded cheese (PHP 130 and PHP 110 respectively). The Queso de Bola version had a distinct, nostalgic richness that I loved. Cinnamon Rolls - These are soft ensaymada-style rolls with cinnamon and raisins (PHP 130). Not overly sweet, which I appreciated. Cheese Rolls - Classic and satisfying (PHP 65). Savory-sweet, soft, and perfect with coffee. Smores Bar - Honestly, this was a surprise hit. The browned marshmallows on top give it a s'mores-like vibe--unique and super comforting. In the Chiller: The cake chiller is like an art gallery for desserts: * Macarons (PHP 65) - Light, crisp shells and creamy centers. The pistachio and strawberry stood out. * Mini Cakes and Mousse Treats - Beautifully crafted and Instagram-worthy. I didn't get to try them all, but the pink-striped cakes and salted caramel mousse domes looked divine. Perfect for gifting or special celebrations. Ambience: The space itself is cozy, modern, and warmly lit with gold accents and wood finishes. There's a clean, minimalist vibe, with enough space for catch-ups over coffee or solo dessert indulgence. What I missed (but coming back for!): I didn't get to try their savory menu like sandwiches and brunch plates--but they looked really promising. Based on presentation and their overall quality, I'd bet they're just as good. Final Verdict: Park Avenue Desserts delivers on its promise of beautiful and delicious. Whether you're after classic Filipino pastries, elevated sweets, or something gift-worthy, this is your spot. And yes--I'm definitely coming back for brunch.

One such brand that's starting to make a name for itself in the big city is Eric Kayser Patisserie and Boulangerie, located beside Rustan's Supermarket in Power Plant Mall. Unlike their shop in Greenhills which is big and has a sit-down dining menu, their outlet in Rockwell is small and more like a bakery where customers choose their goodies from the display racks and bring the items to the cashier. Eric Kayser sells different types of breads - ciabatta, baguette, batard, and rye, to name a few. For those with a sweet tooth, cravings will be satisfied with eclairs, Danish pastries, Viennese cookies, and fruit tarts. For me though, there are only two reasons why I like this shop - One, they have Financiers (light and small French cake) and two, their Kouign Amman (a round Breton cake that looks like a crusty cinnamon roll but made of croissant dough) has the right sweetness and perfect buttery taste. By the way, if you are curious about how to pronounce Kouign Amman, just think of royalty as it sounds like 'queen ah man'.

And those chocolate based pastries? Sinful! I remember seeing their Mi-cuit and I knew that I just had to have it, so I bought it instantly. It's like a Chocolate Lava Cake but denser, richer and with a sort of decadent half-baked texture in the middle instead of molten chocolate, and it was amazing! I was already quite far from the store, but I was very tempted to go back and buy another piece. But like I said, it's sinful, so I had to resist the temptation! But we all give in now and then, so I suggest you try their pastries out!

You see, my dad is a diabetic so there are only a few dessert items that he can have all for himself. Dulcelin's Mango Torte is definitely one of them. The mangoes used are always fresh. I'm actually amazed by how the company maintains the consistent quality in their mangoes. I'm not sure how they do it, but they are doing a great job at it. Secondly, the crust that they use for the torte is just divine. It's a combination of graham crackers and peacans perhaps? Again, I am not too sure but it tastes fantastic! For someone who can rarely finish a slice of cake on his own, my dad has a no-sharing rule when it's Dulcelin's Mango Torte. Truth is, it's a joy to see him enjoy something I know he has always been longing for. Thank you Dulcelin for allowing my dad to enjoy desserts like this.

Imagine apples, French beans, cinnamony- sauce and thick-cut pork belly as your lunch and NOT dessert yet! Tip: take advantage of their student promos, in which they offer discounted prices or one price that's good for two.

Because, who in their right mind would ever think of stacking two fried pieces of dough on top of each other and serve them? The donuts look seemingly harmless in the beginning but its when you dig into it that makes a world of a difference. Though they are topped with just about everything you can imagine (chocolate, popcorn, blueberries, etc.) some donuts are also filled with chocolate or cream. It's a sweet lover's delight, and if you're watching your sugar count, you can forget it here. Their Double Ds are the best thing since Croughnuts.

I knew she loved desserts, and I decided to get a croughnut from Dolcelatte. For the uninitiated and inexperienced, a croughnut is a hybrid croissant-doughnut. You would just have to order one, and decide for yourself why everyone is raving about this. I ordered two of them, and when I greeted her with the cronuts in hand, she seemed to have forgotten all the other gifts that she received from her kids. She indulged in the mixture of the sweet flavor and the soft, flaky texture of the cronut, and thanked me graciously. Mission accomplished. For those who were excited by the idea of the cronut, a new trend is being set by Dolcelatte, and it's called the double doughnut. I have no idea why anyone would think putting a doughnut on top of another is a good idea, but you'd have to break my hands before I'd give you a taste of the wonderful texture that comes with this creation.

I was surprised at their menu offer with unlimited rice and free dessert (we got red velvet brownie each), and the meals are about 120PHP (good deal!). They also have coffee and shakes that are sure to complement their dessert menu. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They are able to help us with our requests like borrowing the board game that was displayed on their cupboard near the counter (hehe). I will surely visit their place again and probably try out their colorful and mouthwatering macarons, and read a book or study in their restaurant :)

Their meals are made to order. We came in pretty early, so for the server to tell us which is available was very nice of them. I tried their sizzling steak which was covered in their meat gravy. It had a scoop of peas and carrots. I added egg cause egg makes everything better. Although it would have been nice for them to cook it without a aring, (it would have been more authentic and taste better), it still tasted delicious. We also ordered the Burger steak. Again it was covered in their delicious gravy and a side of rice. Desserts ofcourse was part of the picture in our meal. Besides the carrot cake that we tried, we got a free mango cake dessert. Three layers of goodness. Buttom to top, it was sponge, mango creme, and a meringue on top. The sweetness was balanced with the deliciousness of the sponge cake. The smell of the mango was just nostalgic that you would want to order more of this cake. The carrot cake on the other hand has a thick creamcheese frosting. It was good but it was not my favorite.

So we just got random pastries from the display and some gelato. What's a good thing about their gelato is that you can choose 1-3 flavors even for a small cup. Which is normally a large cup for 3 flavors. Apple Streusel was too soft. The apple filling was good, but I was expecting a flakier, buttery pastry from the soft ones they have. Cannoli was too hard. It is a rolled puff pastry with a stick of chocolate in the middle. The pastry was tough or too crisp that fails the texture of a cannoli, sweet, soft, flaky, buttery. Meringue. 2 meringue disc that sandwiches chocolate. The meringue was light, sweet, and has a powdery finish. It doesn't have the rough, sugary feel like what the usual bakery fair. Crostatine Raspberry is a flaky raspberry filled tart that has a buttery, flaky weaved crust on top. The tart was a bit hard, but it was perfectly sweet, fruity raspberry with a flaky crust on top. Begne was their version of cream puff. It was soft and filled with creamy custard and was coated with chocolate. It was nice, soft, cream puff, but was expecting a fresher one. Gelatos was smooth & milky. Just right for a gelato. I loved their pistacchio and blackberry flavor. The tiramisu was too liquorish for me. Chiara can improved on most of their pastries and do promotions before closing to prevent pastries from being taken over the next day.
