Before I throw out the bag with the receipt, I glanced to see if the price was correct. I do that randomly, it's just my habit. But their prices weren't what I thought they would be (see the photo). I understand it's a slight difference (all 3 items), and the menu says 'prices subject to change,' but I just don't deal with this kinda business practice as a customer. One thing could tell a lot. If my husband bought a $100 Hermes scarf instead of $150 one on plane as a sourvenir back from France, I'd think that's how much he cared about me. Talking about price, I've read someone saying every time he/she goes to this Mexican bakery, they charge her dfferent prices. I still wonder what that is, also, if he/she still goes there. So this is the first time we have eaten at a restaurant here in Morgan Hill since restaurants have been able to serve outside. We ate here not long before everything shut down and the food was good. First, it was not packed, plenty of room between tables and not a lot of people and empty tables. It took a good 20 minutes for us to even give our drink order. The food portions were smaller than I remembered. The server knocked over one of our beers, did not replace it, and charged us for it and the replacement beer. $21 for a small amount of chili colorado. My $15 quesadilla came with nothing and was four small triangles. read more

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have more stars? Not only do I love their food, but I have many fond milestone memories here. This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant ever! I've been going here for 15+ years and have never had a bad meal or a bad margarita. The chips and salsa are endless and they serve two types of salsa, one medium heat smooth one and the other a little spicy and chunky. My favorite dish is the #6, chicken taco, cheese enchilada and a chili verde burrito. The taco's are awesome, they make their taco shells fresh, none of that pre-made taco shell business. The chili verde is the best I've ever had, the pork is so tender and the sauce fantastic. The rice is best ever, just so fluffy and light. Every meal is served bubbling hot.....and I mean bubbling, don't touch the plates or you will get burned. Passing through Morgan Hill and decided to stop in Sinaloa Cafe for a bite to eat. First impressions upon entering Sinaloa Cafe was that it had an authentic Mexican atmosphere. They had inside/outside seating as well as a bar side section. I had ordered the Enchiladas plate and was not disappointed. My plate came nice and hot that kept the enchiladas with rice and beans warm till the end. I would highly recommend Sinaloa Cafe to everyone. My first time here, I decided to come here for lunch. The patio area was very nice and the servers were nice and attentive. I ordered the fiesta salad with chicken and wholly mole! It was $25. Now I don't mind paying a lot for my meal as long as the quality matches the price. In this case however, the salad was very basic and the chicken was sooo dry. We drove down here from San Jose as my dining companions said they had the best Chimicanga's in the area (I love California Mexican being from the East Coast.) The cafe is just that - a cafe with tables and chairs and very little ambiance - but it appeared clean. We put our name on the list when we arrived, and then noticed others getting seated ahead of us - when we brought it to the host's attention - he promptly apologized as he had crossed us off. He offerred guacamole as a courtesy - we asked for a Margarita due to an allergy - we had expected 3 margaritas, but when the check came, only got one compensated. (Missed expectation!) That said, the chimichanga was good - and had guacamole and sour cream on top that blended it well with it. Honestly, I'm not sure I would drive this far south for it again. We also knew that they were down one server as the host was complaining about that to several patrons - if I was our waitress I would have given us a headsup to that when we were seated. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We got to the restaurant and didn't get and help until about 15 minutes after we were sat down. As soon as someone helped us we ordered food and drinks. This was due to how long it took to get help. Our drinks came pretty fast and I requested the tab. I new that it would take a while due to the service. Once it came and we paid. Shortly after I asked one of the servers for a box. However, when I called her (politely) she looked at me and walked away from me. She proceeded to tell the other server a few tables down, that since we requested to sit outside we needed to wait longer and it was our fault. (If you would've told me I would've sat inside.) It was upsetting because all I wanted was a box to take my food to go once it got to me. I waited about twenty minutes and left because my food never came. Worst experience ever. read more

The only time I come here is with my family. My dad loves the place. I think it is just ok. I love mexican food and have been to plenty of places to feel qualified to have an opinion. The salsa is mediocre, and the salsa is always my way of telling whether or not the food will be good. And the food is mediocre like the salsa. It's not bad food, just not freaking amazing the way I want it to be. I've been here several times and have had a bean and cheese burrito (ok), chicken taquitos (pretty good) and nachos (ok, heavy and super filling). I would love to come back for drinks. I am willing to bet they are hella good. I am willing to bet that is what brings people back. The service is always great (super friendly and prompt) and it's a shame that the food isn't as good as the service. I want to like this place more. I think it has lots of potential. read more

May have been our worst dining experience ever. We called and made a reservation for 5:15 and arrived at the restaurant at 5:10. We checked in with the man at the counter and he said it we should wait at the bar until the table cleared...not sure how long that would be. So we ordered drinks and sat at the bar. Twenty minutes or so later the waitress/hostess said we could take the table and they would bring chips and water. After about 10 minutes she came to our table and said we can't sit there because we were late for our reservation. We told her she was wrong and she should check with Manny as that is who we checked in with. She came back a few minutes later and said we could stay but it would be a long time before they would take our order and walked away...I guess we were being punished? We had made reservation for six of us and got there before time and thought we had checked in with someone who assured us our table would be ready shortly. But after we were seated, we were basically told we were late because we had not checked in with the lady and we would be low priority for service and would have to wait to even order! What a Bizarre way to treat customers (almost like we were put in time out)! We ended up leaving as we were treated so rudely. Never will we set foot in this restaurant again! Was there a couple of weeks ago and boy has this place changed. Its not the same as when Roman was manager. Roman had specials during the week, like oysters, lamb shank, and much more. He checked on the outgoing food for plating and made sure it was perfect. He knew all the regulars and he always sold his specials because they were delicious. If you didnt see Roman around it was because he was in the back cooking specials or helping the cooks out. Now you got this BUTTERBALL of a manager whos always sitting down playing on his phone acting like hes a manager. He maybe the manager but only in his own little world. He has bad customer service skills and is quick to jump to a higher tone then you. I sent back my margaritas twice due to very little grand marnier in them and after him approaching me to only raise his voice, i said forget this. Never again will i deal with him. I have a choice of words for Elmer when i see him regarding his manager choices. Food - I had the chile verde and loved it. My wife usually gets the chicken nachos, and their always excellent. The food isn't going to knock your socks off, but it is good. Staff - The last few times I have gone, the staff has always been friendly and helpful. No complaints. Atmosphere - If you can, get yourself seated on the left-hand side of the restaurant. The right-hand side is right next to the bar, and you have to deal with more people than you should have to. Let's face it. Go there for the margaritas! I had the chili verde plate. the verde sauce was MIA and the meat was mostly shredded with no flavor at all. So I had avoided going back to Sinaloa since I first went there 12years ago. I wasn't impressed then and the food didn't wow me. We've talked about going back but never did. I learned it was under new management for a while now. Last night the Hubs wanted to go to Margarita's but they were closed. So I suggested to finally try Sinaloa's again after all these years. The place haven't changed much. Our server was nice and courteous. They brought the chips and salsa which didn't quite have the yummy look to it but they were actually good. Enchilada is always my scale on how good a Mexican restaurant is so I ordered the shredded beef with red sauce and husband wanted to try the mole sauce so they served both in one plate. I was very impressed in how good it was! You can tell they made the sauce and not from a can. The rice is nice and fluffy but not mushy, the refried beans was just as yum. My hubs ordered the shredded beef Chimachanga...it was delish and was a pretty good size (he dove right in so forgot to take a pic). A friend of mine who's visiting from LA ordered her enchilada with ranchera sauce and that was delish as well. 3 Margaritas (i had the strawberry) was refreshing with a good amount of tequila. Overall a very surprising delicious dinner! Who knew I would find my new fav Mexican place here in MH. I'm from LA so I'm kinda picky with my Mexican food fix. Today was an epic fail with Sinaloa Cafe. They had about 4 customers when we came in and the hostess asked us if we had reservations, when I told her we didn't she yelled "NO?" And startled us all. She must of caught herself and quickly told us to wait 2 minutes. When you order your drinks, take your time sipping. Food service is slow, waiter will come check on you after you literally flag them down. Because of this reason, you will be left parched, thirsty and your whole dining experience will be spent contemplating whether you should take another sip of your drink before your food comes. If you order a meal, make sure you won't be charged a la carte. They are picky with their sauces and bc we ordered 2 different sauces ( green & red sauce) for our enchiladas , we got charged 6.99 each enchilada plus 7.00 for a side of beans and rice. When we asked our waiter to take care of the matter, he did. But it was only after that I heard him gossiping about our table to his co workers. Don't come here. Unless you enjoy poor service and being nickeled and dimed for every single thing. read more

This was the second time we went to Sinaloa's, we both were hoping that it would be better the last , but unfortunately not the case. Frankly the food was rather bland, the guacamole had nothing going for it but the avocado, not spicy, not taste, not special, the chips were good. I had the chile verde was ok, but I have had soo much better, no spice , not much taste, just ok, the flour tortillas were good. My wife had the shrimp quesadilla, she only 1/4 of it the rest she gave to my friend who was with us, she said the shrimp was good. I conclusion I don't think we wont be going back any time soon as there are a couple of basic taquerias that have better food. read more

Honestly, we picked this place when we were in the area because the tables out front were really well spaced. It was our first restaurant experience in months and we were being cautious. We didn't expect to have as great of service as we did and as tasty food as we did. Our server, possibly the manager, was really awesome and super cautious as well. He made us feel comfortable and welcome. The food was REALLY delicious. We were surprised to see mussels on the menu and because we couldn't choose between them, we ordered them both. YUM! So glad we did. Our daughter ordered the kids quesadilla and enjoyed it. I've lived in MoHill almost 6 years and never ate here because the Yelp reviews were so discouraging. Finally tried it today after a friend recommended it. It was great! Hubby had a chicken enchilada with an amazing Guajillo Cream sauce. Guac was really good. I had the Combination salad and thought it was really creative and tasty. To say this place has lost it's mojo, is an understatement... I remember when it used to be so good, there would be a wait at the door. Since the new owners took over everything has gone downhill. They slowly removed or completely changed most of the favorites, now it's just overpriced and most food is bland, salty or overcooked. They use yellow cheddar cheese in there food, that just reminds me of Taco Bell. They put rice in the chimichangas and no beans, way too many carbs on carbs. The rice was crunchy and had pieces of onion and garlic in it. Why? It's not hard to blend it in. My friends daughter would not touch it cause let's most kids hate onions!. Oh, and their once famous menudo was slimy and flavorless. They're drinks were good but I came for the food too. If that's the case just call it a bar. I understand why this place is always empty now. Yuck!. For the prices they charge, the food needs to be top notch, which is not the case here. I had the tamales, which were much lighter, as in "not heavy and weighing down your stomach," than you usually get. Some confusion when I entered and the barman told me to sit anywhere, and then the waitress came and chided me for sitting at the one empty table that had place settings and menus on it, because it was reserved (no sign on it), but we got past that. read more

My boyfriend and I have been here a few times before the new ownership and just once, yesterday, after. Delicious food and drinks as always, even with the change of ownership. My taco was a special and ocd'ish request and the waitress got it right! My drink was a little watery but still flavorful. The decor was off and looked very generic and empty but I'm assuming they're still moving in, so to speak. That doesn't bother me so much but I did feel a change in scenery immediately upon entering. I'm only withholding a star because the price hike on the plates was drastic. A dollar rise is understandable but a $4 rise is a bit much. For what we had we normally would have paid around $40 maybe even $50 but yesterday we paid nearly $80 and we ate the same things and had our usual drinks that we ate in the past.
