Best St. Augustine in DFW, don't waste your time and money going to Lowe's or Home Depot. We honestly didn't think it would grow because of the 30+ yrs of acorns, pine needles, and leaves in the yard. So we did half of the front yard and the curb part to test it out, after a month we saw that it was growing great!! So we decided to lay some more down. A lot of prep went into it before we installed it, also watering it daily. read more

We had used Sims in the past but we saw that another nursery had St. Augustine a little cheaper so we went with them. BIG mistake!!! The sod that we received was horrible, falling apart, and just didn't look good. We had the other nursery come and pick up the unused pallets and called Sims. Mike from Sims brought us out some St. Augustine and of course it was perfect. We will never make the mistake of using another company for grass again!! Thanks Sims! read more

Half of the morning of the appointment it was cool and dry weather...after about noon it began drizzling, NOT Freezing in any way, it was a lot warmer than that! Just a VERY LIGHT rain/LIGHT DRIZZLE!!!...I did not receive a phone call, an email or and indication that Sims would NOT SHOW UP!!!!! BUT THEY DID NOT .... DESPITE a confirmation call from the company about my "appointment" a day before!!! False Advertising, poor management, VERY POOR CUSTOMER CONSIDERATION!!!, VERY POOR COMPANY MGT.....VOID AT ALL COST!!!!! read more

It took my husband nearly a year to prep for our new lawn, as he did extensive drainage, sprinkler work, tree trimming, grading and rock removal. So, when it came time to buy the actual sod, we did our research and looked around at our neighbor's lawns. One particular neighbor highly recommended Sims and, given that their lawn was very nice, we decided to give them a shot. My husband called and spoke to Mike (I believe that's his name) and got a lot of information and a quote. We then called around to several other sod companies in DFW to compare and were shocked with 2 things: first, every company we called was MUCH more expensive than Sims, and, second, the people we spoke to at the other companies were rude jerks. All the Sims people we dealt with were courteous and friendly! After the last call I made I gave my hubs the go-ahead to call Sims and place the order for 3.6 pallets of sod; that's another thing we really like, that we could order exactly what we needed and break a pallet up. He called on Wednesday and the sod was delivered right on time on Friday. The 2 guys who delivered it were VERY nice and helpful and the older gentleman took the time to explain to me what kind of watering/mowing schedule we should follow and gave me some helpful tips to keep the lawn looking beautiful. I appreciated him doing that for me and after he left I went right inside and wrote it all down, LOL. My husband was positively giddy when he got home and saw the sod and we looked it over and noticed how lush and healthy it looked. The plan was to lay the sod early the next morning but the hubs was too excited and decided to begin right then and there. All in all, with the help of 2 of our neighbors, we had a new lawn 3 hours later! And out of all of those pieces there were literally only 4 or 5 that were even slightly blemished- every piece looked and felt great. We've followed the advice we were given and it looks BEAUTIFUL. Several neighbors have stopped by and complimented us and asked where we got it and we immediately told them about Sims. We'll be using them whenever the need arises for us, that's for sure! read more

The St Augustine Palmetto from Sims has been the best quality in comparison to the sod from 3-4 other businesses I have used. The dirt under their sod is thicker making the pieces sturdier( ie they do not fall apart when picking up the individual pieces) and the sod strands are more rooted in the thick dirt and it has been free of weeds and harmful bugs. The price in comparison to other's has been equivalent to $30 more/palette. Using Sim's sod has made the planting ,growing & yard maintenance process the easiest we've experienced. read more

NOT helpful at all. Reached out to Simms for a quote on re-doing our lawn. Let's just say Mike wasn't too eager to gain new business. Just straight up said didn't do the service. I was confused thinking he meant he didn't service my town, but he said he didn't do the services I needed, then said he didn't do installation. That's fine and all, but looks like in previous reviews he suggested someone for estimates and install. Not going to pull teeth with this owner. Guess they have enough business and don't need more revenue coming in. Thanks Mike, we will make sure the person we go with doesn't buy sod from your company. I needed 3 pieces of sod. I drove into their driveway and a sign on their fence stated "stay in your vehicle and someone will meet me" I waited a few minutes and an older lady walked up to the fence and was rude with an attitude I was wasting her time. when I told her, I was looking for sod, she asked what kind, when I told her she replied they didn't have any. Overall, she was rude. I do not recommend buying anything from this company. If they treat their customers that way, I can imagine their work will not be satisfactory. I contacted Sims Grass for an estimate to sod my yard with St. Augustine. They provided me with a telephone number for one of their installers who also handles estimates. I called him and he came to my home the same day. In less than a week I had a completely new lawn. George Ruiz and his team did an outstanding job on the installation. They completely removed the existing grass, tilled and leveled the entire yard allowing the new grass to be even with the driveway and sidewalk. The St. Augustine they installed was healthy and a vibrant green. Once the grass was installed they completely cleaned the area leaving it totally debris-free. The entire crew was courteous and professional. The commitment to service excellence by both Sims Grass and George Ruiz is both obvious and exceptional. I ordered three pallets of Palmetto St. Augustine. They were green and so far have made my lawn look amazing. The service was good and they did give me a an 8-12 time for the drop off. The only issues I had was the office person told me to call at 8 on the delivery day to get a more accurate time. When I called another office person said they would be there soon. Soon was almost noon. If was going to pour rain the next day so I had to work into the night to get my yard complete before the rain. I am please to say I completed it before the rain and it looks beautiful, just wish I could have gotten the sod a few hours earlier. read more

I am so impressed with your customer service and your landscape installer, George that you sent out to my house. I called on a Friday, you contacted the installer immediately who in turn called me. He was out that Saturday morning and by Saturday afternoon I had new sod installed! The price couldn't be beat either! It's rare to find a company with such good customer service these days so I will highly recommend you to everyone I can. I will be keeping George's contact information for future work as well. My only suggestion would be to ensure your "contact me" page online is working correctly because I did email a couple of times before calling and never got a reply. read more
