West End Veterinary Clinic - Dr. Mason and Johnathan

    West End Veterinary Clinic

TL;DR: Do not pay your bill until you review the line items. They've overbilled us on both of our…read morepast 2 visits. If you find out after you've paid, they won't credit the mistake back to your card; they'll apply a "credit" to your account forcing you to come back to use it. It pains me to write this review because the folks at West End Veterinary Clinic have always been nice. But they have a real problem. I don't think the folks who work there are intentionally overcharging -- I think it may be their point-of-sale system. We have 3 reasons why we have to find a new vet despite this convenient location and the nice folks who work there. 1) They told me to hold off getting my puppy spayed, well after she was able to get pregnant -- despite knowing she would be at risk. By the time our puppy came in for the operation, they discovered she was pregnant, which caused an extra $600 worth of problems and heartache for our family. 2) They double-billed us for a cone while our puppy was recovering. I spotted the mistake, called, and they wouldn't refund the money. They offered a credit instead -- forcing me to return to them if I ever want to see that money again. 3) On the second visit (vaccines), they billed me $67.76 for a heartworm test I declined and which was never performed. Has any business ever made a billing mistake in YOUR favor? Me neither. Once could be an honest mistake. Twice in 2 visits -- well -- you decide.

The only negative review I saw was about price and I had to laugh. If you want a quality, clean,…read moreexperienced, and well-stocked vet, go to WEST END VETERINARY CLINIC! I have four kids, and foster regularly. When I foster I pay the vet bills and use Dr. Mason (owner) or Dr. Rubi, and don't worry about the price because I always get the VALUE. Both vets are great at educating me (and I know a lot after being a dog and cat mom forever) and I walk away with everything I need to keep my pets comfortable and as healthy as possible. I took a hospice foster in just yesterday and Dr. Mason spent over an hour with us, sent me home with a supply of everything I needed, and my bill was HALF what I expected! Today my little foster was feeling much better and we owe it all to West End!

Partner Veterinary - Waylon and Bodhi

Just weeks after losing our 13-year-old yellow Lab, Waylon, in July 2025, Bodhi--who grew up with Waylon--began showing signs of sadness and developed an ear infection. Though his initial treatment went well, we noticed he still wasn't himself, which led us to request further tests before a planned trip. That's when we received the devastating news that Bodhi had spleen cancer. From that moment, everything moved quickly. Bodhi was admitted to the ER and then ICU, where he stayed for several days. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but the kindness and compassion shown by every staff member--from the front desk to the ICU--helped us through it. Special thanks to Dr. Pierre, who cared for Bodhi daily with extraordinary patience and empathy. Knowing Bodhi was clean, comfortable, and treated with such love made it easier to leave him, even though it broke our hearts. On August 30, 2025, we said goodbye to our sweet boy. As much as we hoped to bring him home, we know he was in the best place possible--receiving the care he needed, including medication during a seizure that we couldn't have managed on our own. Bodhi fought hard, but in the end, he let us know it was time. We told him how deeply we loved him and that it was okay to go be with Waylon. Losing both our boys so close together has been unbearable, but we take comfort in knowing we did everything we could--and that's thanks to the exceptional support and care we received. We are forever grateful. With love and thanks, Gracie & Aaron

On 9/14/26, our beagle was hit by a UTV, and another emergency vet called Partners to let them know…read morewe were coming. The front desk experience was unpleasant, including rude interactions with us and others in the waiting room. Dr. Copenhaver was kind and professional. She explained that our dog's initial ultrasound showed pulmonary contusions and discussed oxygen, labs, X-rays, and possible hospitalization. She asked us to wait in the waiting area and someone would get us shortly to see our dog. Based on that conversation, we believed treatment was underway. About an hour later, Michelle took us to a room and presented us with an estimate of $3,500-$3,800 and said, "No treatment is done until you sign the estimate." Before agreeing to hospitalization, I repeatedly asked to speak with Dr. Copenhaver again and said I was willing to wait. Instead, we were given another estimate of approximately $1,700 without hospitalization. When I asked what had actually been done while we were waiting and how my dog was doing, Michelle told me she did not know, only that she was in an oxygen cage. She then stated, "We would be doing more, but we've been waiting for y'all to agree and sign the estimate." The cost was not my primary concern. I was being asked to make a significant decision while the person presenting the estimate could not tell me my dog's condition, and I could not speak with the vet. We ultimately left against medical advice as I'd rather follow up with her normal vet than keep her at a facility with staff that treated people the way Michelle was treating us. The following evening, animal control came to our home after someone from the veterinary facility contacted them with concerns about our animals and our injured dog. The officer observed our injured beagle. She was alert, wagging her tail, and breathing normally. She was moving slower than normal but she had just been hit by a UTV. The officer complimented us on our kennel set up and was surprised our beagle was doing so well after the report they received. I fully support reporting legitimate animal-welfare concerns, but I wanted to understand what prompted this report, especially since no one from Partners contacted us to ask how our dog was doing or about follow-up care. Before posting this review, I emailed Partners asking for clarification and whether contacting animal control is standard practice when an owner declines hospitalization or leaves against medical advice. I received NO response, and that was sent on 9/17/26. Again, Dr. Copenhaver was compassionate and professional. Unfortunately, the communication afterward, the animal-control report, and the lack of response to my concerns left us extremely disappointed and felt it necessary to warn other pet owners.
