I used to love this vet until they butchered my dog for no reason. The reason I was given was that…read morethe vet "couldn't remember which leg the bump was on, so she removed bumps from his front two legs", that weren't there and weren't bothering him. When I took him for his dental appointment and bump removal, I showed the tech the bump on his back left foot (that was stained from him licking at it and that the vet supposedly looked at when he was there a couple weeks before.) They also showed me a broken tooth at the visit a couple weeks before, which was the determining factor for me scheduling the procedure. When I dropped him off I was told the doctor would call me when she was done. Not only did NO ONE call me, but I called them to ask if he was done at 5:15pm to find out, "Oh he's been done, no one called you?" So, I rush to go pick him up and find out not only did they not remove the small bump they were supposed to, but that instead he has staples and chunks of both is front legs taken out. WHAT did they do to my baby boy? They were trying to close and rushed me out the door with him without giving me any of the medications and when I went back to the door to get them, they had already locked the door and I had to bang to get them to open it back up and they questioned me, trying to convince me they had given me his meds.. Fiinally, they gave me his meds and I left. (BTW they shorted him on the meds they gave him, they did not last as long as they said they would and he ran out.) I was told Dr. Sara White would call me that Monday, SHE NEVER HAS CALLED ME. Clearly I don't trust her to touch my boys again and I emailed and requested their records. The records they sent weren't the right records for each dog and again they tried to convince me they were. Finally, I get the records, I still have not received the xrays I paid for the day of the surgery and have requested SEVERAL times, but even their office notes are wrong! At the visit they showed me his broken tooth (the note does not reflect this) and determined he needed dental cleaning and the bump removal, says the bump was on the right hind leg, (it's always been the left back foot) it also said he had light tartar (They showed me different) and no broken or fractured teeth (yeah they showed me that too.) This place used to be nice, but since I've seen Sara White my trust in this clinic is gone. I noticed even when we were in visits with her, she was always dismissive to anything I said. She would ask a question and then just dismiss the answer. I thought maybe I was being sensitive, but now that I look back. I should have known better and NEVER SHOULD HAVE TRUSTED HER with my baby boy!

We see Dr. Hillenbrand who is new to this location, but she is FANTASTIC. My pup was having some difficulty with diarrhea, giardia, and then got into some carpet to top things off. She called me 3 minutes after the practice opened to personally check on my pup. She answered any and all questions I had, offered an x-Ray to ease my mind about a blockage from the carpet, and called two more times during that week to check on us. She walks me through all of her findings while performing her exam on my pup, makes a plan for our next visit and what we can expect, and makes giving vaccines look like a piece of cake. She even mailed me a hand-written letter after our first appointment to thank us for choosing to see her and welcomed us to the practice. A hand-written letter, delivered via snail mail, in 2022. My heart! I called one day to have my pup's vaccination records emailed to me to provide to my landlord. I kid you not - 1 minute after talking with the receptionist on the phone I had a copy of her records. We had to submit a stool sample to check for remaining giardia, and had results in less than 12 hours. We live in Richmond but the 25 minute drive to this practice is so incredibly worth it. If you are looking for a vet, look no further. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this practice. We love them so much!!! My pup approves!!

I didn't expect much, given that it was such short notice and on a weekend, but Dr. Scotti returned my call in about 20 minutes. We had an unusual situation, in that the Vet at the emergency center told us that our cat probably would not live very long without supplemental oxygen. Dr. Scotti was amazing in scheduling us in at the beginning of her day and maintaining excellent contact via text regarding her arrival. That allowed us to minimize the amount of time our animal spent away from extra support and maximize the time we could take him home to live out his last moments where he belonged. Dr. Scotti was so amazing in her professionalism and her compassion. Having been through this, I honestly feel like every pet deserves the chance to die at home and Journey's End is just such an excellent way to make this possible. Thank you so much Dr. Scotti. Being able to let our cat die at home meant everything and helped us to have some closure over a horrible situation.

I've been going to this vet for 20 years, but given the current economy and the fact that they're unwilling to help loyal clients by even offering a payment plan, I may be switching as soon as I can!

Before even entering the room, we overheard Dr. Rhoades asking a vet tech why she 'had' to see the German Shepherd, clearly expressing a personal bias or fear regarding the breed. Once she entered, she remained in the far corner of the room and didn't approach our dog instead opting to throw treats from a distance. Our dog was completely calm--no barking, growling, or aggression of any kind. To have a veterinarian act visibly frightened and dismissive of a patient based solely on breed is unacceptable. If a provider is unable to professionally handle specific breeds, they should not be seeing them. I would not recommend Dr. Rhoades to anyone, especially those with Shepherd mixes.
