This is my mom's favorite place in the city! We stopped by today and grabbed mango salmon, pad Thai, the shrimp bomb sushi roll, kaow soi, and the Thai eggplant. We enjoyed everything so much, the flavors were perfect. We also grabbed drinks and they were good as well. We enjoyed the tempura and meatball appetizers and they were definitely good but the flavors didn't compare to the entrees. Our server was so nice and patient. Stopped by for lunch on a weekday. Ordered the drunken noodles and basil fried rice. Highly recommend the pads see ew but not the basil fried rice. Nothing like we've had at other Thai restaurants. It was curry flavored, had no vegetables, and a big piece of the basil plant was slapped on top. Customers service was decent. They were slow but the lady seemed to rush us. On 9/24/25 we brought 16 Residents from Swan Pointe HOA to have dinner at Simply Thai Restaurant. They have 2 locations, St. Matthews and Middletown. They offer authentic Thai food and Sushi.  We were seated and we met Natasha. She was going to be our server tonight. I remembered her from last year. While she went around and got our drink orders she also passed around waters at the same time. We looked through their huge menu. My husband wanted to get the Egg Rolls. He thought there would only be 1-2 in the order but when they came, there were 4 Egg Rolls on the plate. They were beautiful. They were  about 4" long and they were golden brown and came with the most delicious Mango Sauce.  Several people ordered them after they saw how inviting they looked. They were only $5.99! Some people ordered Sushi.  Then my husband and I started looking at the menu again. We ordered Pad Thai Chicken. It's Rice Noodles with Chicken and it's good. We ordered with no heat level.  *When you order a meal, you get to select the heat number that you can tolerate. We only had 1 person order a 3! About 5 people ordered the pineapple. It's half of a pineapple that's been scooped out and filled with different ingredients. Pineapple Fried Rice, Raisins, Peanuts, and a protein. (Chicken, Shrimp, Steak). This was my second time here, and I am afraid both experiences left me lacking as much as I wanted to like this place. My experience there most recently featured one of the most lackluster servers whom I have ever had: not smiling at me, not checking in to see how I liked my food, etc. The only person who stood out was the host who kindly greeted me and seated me right away. My green curry fried rice was overly salty though beautifully displayed and the sirloin and eggplant was cooked perfectly. The first time I was there several months ago the restaurant was understaffed and I couldn't believe I was not seated right away even though many seats were available plus my salmon was dry, but the staff at least were all very nice. I think this restaurant which has a beautiful design probably could use better training for its employees. It also didn't help that after my plate was taken away no one came to wipe my table though there were noticeable crumbs or refill my water even though I was waiting several minutes for a ride. Next time I am in the area I plan to go to Havana Rumba next door. The hostess, strengths of the food, and ambience and design of the restaurant have led me to give this a low 3-star review. We came after our visiting a spa, we were told there was a 25 mins wait for a table for 2 but we were offered seating at the bar. We were seated and only giving one menu until the bartender gave us another. They were a little bit busy but there still a couple of empty tables. The bartenders were really nice and helpful, we got waters and order some cocktails. The Thai colada was good and little sweet. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken noodles spice level 2 with the papaya salad and Tom Kha soup with tofu. We also ordered the bourbon salmon roll as an appetizer, It took awhile for our food to come out. The roll was decent and beautiful plated. My favorite was the papaya salad, refreshing with just little spice and crunch. The soup was also so delicious a little creamy and fragrant and just hit the spot. The noddle was delicious as well. It was so much food and couldn't eat it all and we were given to go containers. Overall it was decent experience the food was fantastic and the service was good. Wow, a long time since I've updated my review. We are regulars of Simply Thai and often pick up the order for takeout. Pad Thai is our favorite and we appreciate ordering it at level 0 or 1 and then have more sauce on the side to add as desired. Always full of flavor and a nice ratio of chicken. If you do plan to visit, plenty of seating, including tables for large groups. Casual attire is fine. Service is helpful and friendly. read more

Very cute place in a strip mall by Havana Rumba. Tastefully decorated. Feels like you are on vacation. Service was timely and pleasant. This is my second time there. This summer I went with my sister. I had Red Curry with tofu and have dreamed of it ever since! She had the Green Curry and loved it. We split Satay as an appetizer. Very good! Returned tonight with my husband. We hated an order of Egg Rolls. Four in an order with a nice dipping sauce. The wrapper is more of what I am used to on Spring Rolls but loved them! My husband ordered the Salmon in Mango sauce. I thought it was delicious! He wasn't as thrilled but Thai is a little out of his comfort zone lol. I had to have the Red Curry again. Although it wasn't as good as I remember it, it was still fantastic. I will definitely return to try the Pad Thai. Middletown location. First time I haven't had something good. Ordered Loaded Fried Rice for the first time in a while without looking at menu because it used to come loaded with great vegetables. Now they're using frozen mixed vegetables from a bag. Really! You'll recognize those little chopped carrots, peas and corn. And there wasn't much of that -not sure which is worse. Saw 2 pieces of green bean, maybe 10 little black beans, one piece of onion on a mountain of rice. Under seasoned. If they are stretching things because of rising costs, this isn't the way. No one can finish one of these plates, so cut back on rice? Who messes up fried rice? Tasted a friend's Pineapple Fried Rice and it was better but still Very rice heavy. Huge profit if this is their regular output. Nice server, which was appreciated after no one was at the front desk at lunch time and I had to find my table of friends on my own. Other staff we interacted with were uninterested. We were shooed out at a 2:00 pm because they close at 2:30. I'd never had that happen at St. Matthews location. Also never had a bad meal at St. Matthews and great staff all around. Is location the difference? Anyway, hope this helps you make a decision. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Louisville! The restaurant is a lot larger than what it looks like from the outside but definitely still creates an intimate experience whenever you attend. My favorite item on the menu is the chicken pad Thai. It is always flavorful and the portions are HUGE. I usually can only eat half and save the rest for another meal (which is also still delicious as a leftover). If Simply Thai was closer, I would definitely visit a lot more often! read more

Excellent place with superb service. Our curry was great, good value and overall a very enjoyable dinner. Place is very inviting, option to seat inside or outside. I recently had Simply Thai takeout; but, today was my first time sitting down and taking it all in. Located in Middletown, Simply Thai is tucked away off Shelbyville Road. I'm so glad I decided to try it. I'll never look at fried rice the same way. Let me rephrase, I WON'T settle for just any fried rice. The Green Curry Fried Rice is the bomb. Their menu is extensive and if the rest is like what I've had then I'll be a frequent flyer. I love how their obline and in-room dining let's you measure your "hotness". This is the first time I've encountered a place that does this. It's smart! I ordered mine with a O which still had the curry kick. For a vegan option (just because the mood) choose eggplant. It's delish. I cannot forget the starter to my meal and that was the shrimp dumplings. Little pockets of heaven. The crispy garlic on the top along with their dumpling sauce was ooh-la-la. My dad and I went to simply Thai for a dine-in meal. The staff was following all protocols and there was social distancing at tables. The interior is clean, decorated well and intimate without making you feel like you have to whisper. The service was a little slow for it being lunch hour, but the food was well worth the wait. I always end up getting the chicken pad Thai level 3. I don't really care for spicy foods, but the level 3 gives it just enough flavor and kick. I'm planning to try take-out next time since there are so many great reviews about that, and I'm hoping that may give me some extra time during my lunch break! read more

I was disappointed in the quality of the sushi and food . The sushi had zero to no flavor whatsoever. They wanted to charge us for sauce next to the sushi. They are still doing curbside but you can also dine in and carry out as well. I did carry out. I didn't realize they were doing curbside still because the lady on the phone didn't give me an option. My favorite dish is the basil fried rice with chicken as the protein. It so filling and a big portion of rice. I always have enough for at least 2 meals. So worth the money. I don't think the basil is strong. There is a slight hint of basil and not overpowering. It's pretty basic but has such good flavor. I love how you can chose your spice level. I usually get 3-5. 5 is the hottest level. I got my best friend hooked on it too. My goddaughter loves their Cali roll. She said it's the best shes ever had and she knows her sushi. This review is based on a take-out order. When I dine-in, I'll write an update. I was in Middletown yesterday and was happy to find the new Simply Thai next to my destination. So I gave in to my hunger pains and put in a to-go order to take home with me. I ordered my favorite from my visits to the other Simply Thai location: chicken pad thai (yeah, I'm basic, but it's so good). And this dish was consistent from what I've gotten from Simply Thai before. The noodles were cooked perfectly with such great flavor and good chunks of chicken. My order was easily made via phone and ready when I went to pick it up roughly 20 minutes later. And from what I saw of the interior, it is beautifully decorated, contributing to a great, intimate dining atmosphere. I'll have to go back to eat-in soon! read more

Having recently visited another Thai restaurant and enjoyed their Red Curry with chicken, I decided to try Simply Thai. I've been to quite a few Thai restaurants and love curry. But this restaurant has a different idea on Thai curry dishes. The dish arrived hot, heat hot, and the curry sauce smelled good. But the ingredients of the dish were as the name of the restaurant says, simple. It had chicken and bamboo shoots. That's it. No other vegetables at all. Horribly managed. Put in a to go order at 4:30 Saturday evening. Got there at 4:45 to discover they didn't open until 5:00. At 4:45 the manager asked one of the staff "whats he doing here?" The guy up front said that I was here for a pickup order. Understanding that I was early, I just quietly waited... and waited and waited. At 5:15 a large to go order was brought out and placed on a counter (person was not there to take possession), other orders came out for the patrons eating at the restaurant. Another to go order came out for a gentleman that just walked in. At 5:20 I canceled my order and asked to speak with the manager. I informed the manager that due to her extremely poor customer service, I'm canceling in order and not coming back. No attempt at an apology or "let me check on you order". She just looked at me with a blank stare. Bottom line... The manager knew I was there waiting and could have asked the kitchen staff to work my order at 5:00, otherwise known as good customer service. The place has a 3.5 star rating and I'm quite sure if there was an effective manager in place, the rating would be higher. Owners, take note... drop the anchor. read more

I came here on a Saturday evening after realizing that Havana Salsa was closed temporarily and Havana Rumba had a 40 minute wait. The wait here would be only 15 minutes. I've been to this restaurant a few times before but it had been years! As soon as we got seated, our waitress took our order for waters. She was super smiley. They weren't exactly slammed but I saw people coming in and out of here. Lots of people were waiting for tables when we left. My sister and mom both got pad Thai. They both got it with chicken. They loved it! My sister got a spice level of 2, while my mom got level 1. Still not much heat for my sister's dish, but I'm sure it depends on the day and the cook. They couldn't finish and took the rest home. My dad got simply green. It was a mix of chicken with broccoli, cabbage, and celery in a broth. And it came with rice. He enjoyed it! He also spice level 2. I got the woon sen pad Thai. Spice level 1. It was similar to what my mom and sister got but made with sweet potato noodles. It was so much food! The portion seemed bigger than what my sister and mom got. Couldn't finish and took the rest home. Why the four stars? I found a piece of hair in my food. Blech! This is the first time that I have tried Simply Thai... and that was during lunch... First off, they had a sign in the door asking for patience since they are short staffed.... And they are.... There was 5 in my lunch party, and it took us almost an hour to get our food, and some had finished their meals before others even got theirs.... Now normally that would be enough for me to give them a very low rating... but this time I cannot... The waitress kept apologizing and keeping us informed... They were at about 75% capacity and I am sure on top of the lack of staff, they were also out of practice serving so many people in a short amount of time... and since the waitress and all the other staff communicated so well and was doing everything they could to ensure that their customers were took care of.. They get a pass..... Now for the food... Very good... Several in my party had never eaten at Simply Thai before and every one of them really enjoyed their meals... I had a couple of sushi rolls, that were very tasty.... I defiantly want to go back and try other dishes.... But will go knowing to have enough time to wait a few minutes extra... Delightful surprise in Louisville Kentucky! Highly recommend the Thai Eggplant with Shrimp. We ordered this entree as an appetizer and split it between the two of us The fresh basil made the dish!
