I'm pretty mixed about this place... I mean, I've made numerous purchases here and have been overall happy with my experiences. Just sometimes staff are funny. As in they are nowhere like an actual Apple store. Here and there I'd get a staff member that'll look me up and down and not say a word. My most recent trip though had a really cool fella that asked if I needed help... and we made small talk and THAT'S how locally owned businesses should operate. It makes the customers walk away with or without a purchase with a good feeling and will guarantee that they'll be back in if there's something they are looking for. Service is everything... don't ever forget that. With that said, my favorite part of this place is their "used" gadgets. They are priced very reasonably and depending on your visit, you may score a deal of a lifetime!!! I personally have not purchased any of their used stuff as I've already have the newest of everything, but that doesn't stop me from checking them out and fighting my urges to purchase something I don't need solely because the price is so good. read more

Ordinarily, I am an on-the-ball person. I tend to do my research prior to making purchases so I am knowledgeable when I am speaking to sales people. However, when it comes to things breaking, I am completely useless and need someone to hold my hand and walk me through what needs to be done. A week ago, my daughter's iPhone just stopped working. She did nothing to cause it. She was just sitting on her bed and it started acting funny then went off altogether and we could not get it to turn back on. We got the phone 5 months ago so I knew it was still under Apple's limited warranty and I decided to take it in. I searched the Apple site for where to go get help. Simply Mac was first on the list. I guess I mistakenly assumed they were just a small apple store, but it's not related to Apple. I show up at the store and explain the situation to the associate and that any repair should be covered under warranty. First thing he does is look at the phone and ask me if I have had the screen replaced. I told him that we bought it as a brand new phone and nothing has been done to it. He actually made a comment about Verizon selling refurbished phones as new. He then looked at the water indicator light (which I had found enough online to have already have done this) and once he determined there was no water damage looked over the sides. He told me the phone was bent and that would void any warranty from Apple. He showed me the bend and I didn't see whatever it was he was seeing. He said he would take it into the back and open it up, but it already looked like bad news. He came back and said there was no damage internally, but because of the bend the repair wouldn't be covered under warranty. I asked what the repair would cost and he said $379. I then asked if we could just send it to Apple to see if they would repair it under the warranty. He told me that he has done that before and Apple just sends them back. He said maybe I could call Apple and beg them and they would go ahead and fix it. He was so cold and unhelpful that I eventually took the phone and said that it looks like I am stuck and have no other option but to buy a new phone. He told me "yeah, sorry." I left the store and the next day went to Best Buy Geek squad to get a second option. A friendly man immediately took my phone in the back to run their checks on it. He came out and told me that my phone was going to have to be sent away and it would take 16 days. I asked if it was covered under warranty and was told yes. Out of curiosity, I then asked if there was anything we could have done to have caused this. He told me we did nothing and it was just a dead phone. Lesson definitely learned. read more

I ordered a pre-owned Macbook Air online. I was shipped immediately and looks and works like new. The box was well packaged so that no damage could occur. I can't say anything about the local store but my online experience was great. read more

Okay yeah I get it. You told me you'd fix my screen and guess what it is but you know what they don't you is that they use third party screens that distort the color! Like WTF!?!?!? Seriously that's what they don't tell you before charging you $120 for a fake apple screen!!!! read more

went online to have them fix the battery issue on two iPhones covered under the Apple Service Extended Warranty Program. Made an appointment for one and when I went to make second appointment web site would not let me choose the battery issue. As it also had a camera issue also under Apple Ext Warranty, I chose that option. Brought the first phone in, they tested it and yes battery needed to be replaced. Left it and picked it up the next day. Paid and the "manager" informed me that the second phone was NOT covered for either issue. We went back and forth, but I figured he was the expert. Get home go online and lo and behold it was. indeed covered. It would be another week before I could get an appointment, i called explained the issue and the "manager" said no problem, "we will take care of you when you get back" Yup get back two weeks later, and he flat out denied ever talking to me, or saying they would "take care of me". So either the "manager is a liar, an idiot, or incompetent. He cost the store a lot of money. The camera could easily have been replaced with little effort when they did the battery. and if they charged me for the battery replacement and just the camera part (even though it was supposed to be covered), they would have made money, AND made a dedicated customer. So long story short, next phone a Pixel 3XL, a few months later my 10 year old iMac died (needed a hard drive, so lost repair on that) and wound up buying a NEW iMac. Last week my 10 year old work Mac Pro gave up the ghost. Bought a new Mac Pro. And when I recover from those purchases will be replacing our 10 year old MacBook Pro. So long story short, the other techs were awesome, manager a less then honest person. Avoid this place like the plague. Can't be trusted, crap customer service 0 for 2. It is a shame, a trustworthy Apple store (even a Third Party) in this area would have been fantastic. Instead, well Knoxville of a handful of other Repair shops who do a signicantly better job and trustworthy. read more

If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. We made an appointment 6 days in advance for a iPhone 6s battery replacement. On arrival(a 1 hour drive) they informed us that they had no stock available to actually do the replacement, and had sent an email the day before(using a different email address than all other communications), which at the very bottom of the email mentioned that they didn't have batteries for new appointments. Since we had had an appointment previously, should be no problem, right? Not only did they not have the battery in stock, they would do nothing to own the problem, continuously deflecting to it being someone else's fault, and offering no solutions. They repeated endlessly that they were not an Apple store, which offers actual service, but a third party provider who got given the leftovers that real providers get. I had totally shattered my screen on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, and I got 14 quotes within a 2 hour drive on what it would cost, most ranged from $400-$580. Simply Mac was the cheapest at around $350! And they were very professional, informative, and welcoming. I spoke with Kevin several times over the phone, and he was always very friendly and helpful. In store, I also spoke with Kevin and he walked me through the whole process. He was also extremely nice and patient with my son, who had a million questions and stories for him. I will definitely go back to them for any future Apple concerns/purchases. read more

I am left absolutely stupefied at the level of apathy regarding customer service. I went in when the mall opened (10am) with my phone. The screen they had replaced not even two months prior was malfunctioning and needed to be fixed. After being told they would "get to it when they could" I had to wait 4.5 hours for a screen replacement that should have taken no more than 45 minutes. Simply Mac? Simply no. read more

The customer service here is superb! Since purchasing my MacBook Air here just over a year ago I have not been disappointed. I have been there 3 times in 3 weeks with varying emergencies and annoyances and each time they treat me with respect, kindness and professionalism. One day I came in carrying my external hard drive, MacBook Air and iPhone (which was showing the blue screen of death) and they calmly and expertly brought it all back to working order. Today I needed to get rid of an obnoxious and unexpected download and once again, with a different customer rep, I was treated with kindness. The atmosphere is clean, calm and cool. My 12 year old loves to accompany me and play games on their iPads. I have taken classes there before and am signed up for more. I look forward to going back for fun and not in a crisis but either way I know I will be well taken care of. I can do most things on my own, including some physical repairs and dealing with software issues, but when there's been stuff that needed doing that I don't feel comfortable with I take these problems here without hesitation. I was greeted warmly by Kevin, who was helpful and kind. Once I was all checked in, I was turned over to an advisor, Emily, who was also super helpful and very nice. As I was there for two hours - it only took moments to resolve my issue (which required a new phone) and then the balance of the time was installing all my apps and restoring the new phone with a backup. During this time, Emily was helpful in answering many questions and just overall pleasant. A great staff overall and a terrific experience. Thanks so much guys! read more

When my iPhone became a part of the "Bendgate" scandal, I thought the worst. Three months old, in NEAR perfect condition, I thought I was doomed. When Verizon told me to go to the "apple store", I did not even know we had one in Johnson City. I walked in to Simply Mac at 5:45 pm on New Year's Eve, with low expectations. I met Emily, who immediately popped open my phone and diagnosed the issue. At that point in time, I did not even know that my phone WAS bent. It was very subtle, but the reason that it was not working properly. Emily pulled out all stops to help me. She told me EXACTLY what to say to the operator at Apple and, after that call, I had to return to Simply Mac. They replaced my phone on the spot. I was shocked. I haven't had too many problems with Apple/Mac products in the past, and I have never actually had to rely on the manufacturer to fulfill a warranty, or anything like that. I would recommend Simply Mac to anyone having issues with Apple/Mac devices, but especially iPhone problems. They also have a variety of retail products, but, obviously their first priority is trouble-shooting customer's issues with iPhones. I think that, in itself, says a lot about this place. I would give it ten stars. Absolutely excellent customer service. Emily is amazing! read more

I was very pleased with the repair to my computer and the price. It ended up that a recently purchased factory issued charger had damaged my machine. The young man who worked with me did everything he could to get me a loaner charger until my warranty covered charger came in. The manager flat out refused to help. So, I now have a really pretty silver paper weight until my charger comes in. As an Apple certified rep I would have expected the manager to do anything in his power to rectify a situation caused by a faulty Apple product. As I said reasonable prices, just didn't seem to be much pride in the product by management. read more

I had went to Sprint because my phone was not working properly. The tech inspected it and was unable to repair it and said that it was covered under warranty as he saw no signs of damage on my part. He told me to go to Mac authority in the mall. I went there and the guy tried to fix it and inspected it and said let's get you a new one. Well as I went to look at cases and returned the man mentioned that when he put the flashlight to look down in the antenna hole he saw a little pink indicating water damage that he must have overlooked the first time. I said oh NO that it was not possible at all. I had never even came in contact with any liquid at all. I'm an honest person and I told him to call Sprint and speak with the technician but he never would. He said by it turning pink, they can tell even if it dries out. OH I was mad. I felt like he made me out to be a liar. He said there was a main Apple store in Knoxville, TN and maybe they could possibly bend the rules being an Apple store. Plus I then found out that it would be the closest store to go to. There were no other macauthority or Apple stores closer. I didn't call, I drove down there figuring they would give me a new phone since I knew it didn't come in contact with liquids. I handed the tech there my phone, who was the supervising technician. He went I guess to try and fix it but couldn't and came back and said there is no water damage or anything so I will be right back with a new one. After I had the phone in my hand, signed for etc I told the tech where I was from and that he told me there was water damage. He said that he must have been blind and I probably should have asked to get another person to look at it also. He said that it will turn very bright pink or purple damage and there was obviously NO water damage. He was very polite and everyone there at the Apple store in Knoxville was so nice. I had to make a reservation and wait there for a long while, it was packed!!! It was a huge store and still packed full of dozens of people. I drove 2 hours there and 2 hours back + the short time we got lost in Knoxville briefly. I waisted $40 in gas and left at 10:30 and didn't get home until 8:30 and we ate once briefly. Macauthority has lost all of my business. I had in my hand some new cases I was going to buy also. This happened yesterday and we got home late. I have already just called macauthority and the corporate macauthority today and told them my story and that the first place I went to was Sprint and the tech there even told me that it was covered under warranty, no damage on my part but the macauthority man I got refused to listen to a word I was saying and I was not rude to him at all. I called them today and said to call the Apple Store Knoxville who gave me my new replacement or the Sprint store and unfortunately I don't know his name to report him but they think they know who it is. Middle aged man, dark hair. Everyone else there seemed younger besides one other guy. If you have to go to the macauthority store, make sure you get the name of your tech and make it very clear that your phone had not been damaged and don't take NO as an answer. Otherwise you will be driving to Knoxville. They are nice there and there are many workers and each one is knowledgable and very friendly,, very! Anyway I am very disheartened about the time and money I waisted because of one lousy tech and not a very good one. I rarely leave reviews but I had to on this one. read more
