We went to Brixham after seeing the wonderful TV show Fishtown on Sky Atlantic, we fell in love with the whole town after watching the series, and during the course of the show we loved the way that Steve and Bridget interacted in their chip shop business. We were very lucky to find them there busily working serving customers. We ordered our food which was cooked to order, which I find is a good sign (reheated food is naff!) when we received it the quality of chips was second to none, we tried the others and can safely say these chips are the best in Brixham. They are very good value too, there are a great many different food establishments in Brixham which are all good in their own way, but when you way up cost and quality this friendly little chippy is Brixhams number 1. Getting back to Steve and Bridget, what a wonderful couple. They came across in the show as very loving and caring for each other, Steve really does love Bridget and this is as true in real life as it was on tv. We started to chat to them and they both came round to us and engaged in genuine friendly conversation, what a wonderful way to run a business. I noticed on qype that there are a couple of negative reviews that seemed almost personal, so during one night in a local pub I questioned a friendly local about the reviews (our conversation was very broad and took in the virtues/problems with qype, Trip Advisor and Expedia) and it turns out that some of the negatives were due in essence to a former disgruntled employee!!!! Steve and Bridget are not aware of my posting this review, but after the food, service and friendliness of the whole Rio experience, I feel compelled to fly the flag for them due to the fact that they are doing such a great job. Well done you guys, we think you are a wonderful couple, and hope your love lasts forever.

A great seafood restaurant that is both casual and gourmet. I started with the crab, which was…read morefresh local grab served with avocado and lettuce. It tasted as fresh as it sounded, my only complaint being a little shell with the crab meat. Went with one of the fresh caught fishes as my main, char-grilled Brill, and I had no regrets. Served with garlic butter and it was wonderful, though a few bones did dampen the experience. The waitress was fantastic, incredibly cheerful and nice. My only complaints being the tiny bit of shell in my crab and few bones in my brill, though if that was it probably would still have given five stars, but my wife's oysters had a lot of grit and that really should not have happened in a place of this quality. I would definitely go again, though.

We fancied dressed crab and whilst wandering about came across Rockfish on the main front, a couple of hundred yards away from the bus stops & gardens. What an attractive place. Painted wood, pictures from local schoolchildren on the ceiling and fantastic views of the River Dart. The food is probably best defined as posh fish and chips but I prefer unpretentious seafood. Unpretentious but classy perfect for posh tea, takeaway or a light lunch. We enjoyed an oyster each (£1.50) and then their fresh brown & white crabmeat sandwiches. Joyous so good!!! They had an extensive fish menu, it was fresh as you like & I noticed but didn't drink some decent white wines & local and Belgian beers. Good stuff. It's owned by a guy who was on the telly but I don't think I saw his programme check the website, I guess. I can recommend this really, really happily. Go visit!
