I ordered it with jalapeño cheddar bread. The eggs are poached and you have you choice of meats to go with the pepper jack cheese. I chose sausage and bacon. I also tried the salted Carmel brownie ice cream which was dense and delicious with more of a consistency like a cookie dough. Yum! Nice service too. What the do have outside is nice if the weather is right, though. However, is the food five star? ABSOLUTELY for their food genre! I ordered a sampling for the family. Catfish, chicken, wings, Black Eyed Peas, Deviled Eggs, Pound Cake, Street Corn, Passion Tea. It was ALL really good. Cooked fresh. The fish was prepared correctly and didn't have that common aftertaste. The texture was great. Chicken...better than most. The sides were all PHENOMENAL and flavorful. My son inhaled the Philly and was after the wings next. Another favorite to mention is the Passion Tea. It is unique and good! You'll either like that or you won't. A family of five supports that 80% will love it. May favorite of it all if I were ordering for myself is Catfish and Bourbon Street Corn. Why five stars? The food really is that good, they are local and I love local, and whoever is reading needs to go sample some of this!

I ordered chicken fajitas for breakfast. I am fortunate this restaurant will prepare lunch/dinner foods for breakfast. This locally owned restaurant opened just before Covid and they have been working hard to build their business. 5/5

We've been to El Vaquero twice now to play trivia. While we enjoy the clean amenities and our…read moretrivia caller, both times, we've all been incredibly unhappy with our food. The restaurant is spacious and gets loud when there's a crowd. Thankfully, there's usually a place for our larger group (6 people) to be seated comfortably. Service is very nice but slow. Trivia runs for a little over an hour and both times our food has taken about 45 minutes to come out, despite our comparatively small orders. My friend who comes to trivia does like the food here (he always gets a beef chimichanga FWIW), but everyone else has now tried several different dishes and not once been satisfied or even just not unhappy. The one shining star has been the cheese dip. It really is pretty good cheese dip, lol. The first time I ordered the chipotle chicken, which is supposed to be chicken in a chipotle sauce. I was firstly surprised and disappointed to see these were small strips of chicken rather than a chicken breast. But that would've been okay...had the chipotle sauce been decent. It had no chipotle flavor and honestly mostly just tasted like sour cream. It was very weird. My parents have tried a beef burrito, beef taco, and chicken taco. They said the beef has an unpleasant metallic taste and the shredded chicken was, according to my dad, inedible. Most recently, my husband got a carne asada burrito and said it tasted so unpleasant he was concerned about whether he should even eat it. Fortunately, no ill effects came about as a result of it; he determined it was ultimately just very low quality meat with an unpleasant texture and taste. My father in law just doesn't order anything except a beer after coming for breakfast once and having a bad time there, too. On my most recent visit, I got a side of rice and beans to eat with chips and cheese dip. The rice had been cooked into sticky, mushy lumps and had no flavor. At this point, I have no idea what to order that might even come close to satisfying my palate. It's disappointing. We may be forced back due to circumstances like our availability in order for us to play our favorite game and have time together. If so, I'll continue to try different things until I can maybe someday find something that works. I want to like this place and wish I had the experience so many other reviewers have had.

I did not check out the bathrooms. The decor and lighting were all good. The food was really good, and our server was decent she was friendly but seemed like she had too many tables. I got a seafood boil with shrimp and crawfish and blue crab, The blue crab was a little disappointing as I though it was going to be just legs as most places would do but they put whole crabs in there which of course you can't eat 99% of a crab so it was just for the weight as you pay by the pound. Food was seasoned really good and it was all delicious.

The seasoning choice is next, I did the juicy (cajun, garlic butter, lemon pepper). And finally choose the heat. I went medium and you could feel slight heat, a step up to hot would have been ok. The boil itself was good. You must use the gloves and bib, don't worry about cool points you are there to eat. The flavors of the juicy was great and all the seafood was seasoned nicely. The corn was excellent. And service was super fast. The portions are good, I know snow crab is a challenge to get the meat since the legs are thin. The flavor was good with a lot of work. Recommend the king crab.

The outdoor tables need repair or replacement. They are getting so loose and wobbly any small movement from anyone at our table caused our drinks to slosh and spill, which then dropped through the tablecloth and onto my pants leg. My hubands chair had a metal backrest bar broken off with a sharp spike left that cut his finger when he went to sit down. They need a welder to maintenance these asap. And the food. I always go for plain Weiner Schnitzel. Always. So I do know what to expect plain wienerschnitzel to taste like. And usually it is so good that I tear up a little as I eat in pure bliss, and I keep eating till I hurt my gut and have to loosen my belt. This time is was just meh. It wasn't actively bad, it wasn't bad meat or fried in oil that had gone bad, but it had none of its normal flavor, just lacking in any flavor. Something key was missing but I couldn't tell you what it was, maybe the kitchen was so busy they forgot to season mine? Cause that's how it felt like to eat. And normally the crust does a pretty good job of staying with each bite but it wouldn't holding together at all. More like panko than what I know their schnitzel should be like. The cucumber salad and potatoe salad were good. The red cabbage all exactly as I expected. But it just can't be a good review when your meat your main dish kind of gave the impression of cardboard. Pretend food. I didn't even want to eat the leftovers I brought home, we gave them to the dogs. I turned down trying three different brand new restaurants because I realized the store we were going to was close to ol Heidelberg, But I don't think I will choose it the next time we're on that side of town. Which is sad. I hope they fix their problems with the dishwashing staff and that the kitchen regains its consistency, and they find someone to patch up their tables out front.
