The couch and chair--usually not the most comfortable in hotel suites--were surprisingly cozy. The room overall felt clean and well-maintained. Breakfast was what you'd expect from a Best Western: solid and satisfying. It would be nice to see a bit more variety (maybe switching it up with bacon instead of sausage sometimes), but no real complaints. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. If you like to work out, the fitness area has everything you need, so no need to find an outside gym. I also appreciated the larger shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the shower--exactly what you'd expect from a "Plus" property. We were looking for a relaxing, romantic place to spend some time together. We are both retired and are always looking for places to enjoy life and enjoy each other's company. We were excited to arrive and begin our vacation, but things started going wrong immediately. First the key didn't work on the door. It took us 10 minutes to get in the cabin. When we did make it inside, what we saw did not match the photos on the website. The furniture was broken down and in need of repair or replacement. The kitchen was dirty with dried up food on the cabinets and in the sink. The stove was so dirty we didn't feel comfortable using it. The refrigerator was dirty and in need of repair/replacement. It had one shelf and the shelves on the door would pop out. It was plugged in with a red extension cord with exposed wires. The dishwasher leaked onto the floor. The living room had a lot of glass windows without any coverings so there was no privacy. The lamps also had the nobs removed and were not adjustable. There was exposed wiring sticking out of the ceiling fans. Inside the bathroom there appeared to be dog hair on the door. The tile in the shower was chipped and our feet stuck to the bottom. The water temperature was difficult to adjust as either it was scalding hot or freezing cold. The dryer had to be unplugged and then plugged back in in order for it to work. We like to enjoy sitting outside and take in the fresh air, relax, and enjoy the views. But we weren't able to do this due the presence of several large dogs which would constantly bother us. Overall this was not a pleasant experience. We did not get the relaxing, picturesque experience that we were promised. The photos on the website are not an accurate representation of the current state of the cabin which was in serious need of repair. For $700 we feel like we were ripped off and deprived of enjoying our precious time together (also note that we were not provided with a receipt). If you are wanting to stay someplace relaxing, on a lake, I would recommend you look elsewhere.

Our group decided to have some of our food catered. It was the best thing we did. The food was so good. Natalie and Cherie are very good at what they do. (Be sure to bring containers for the leftovers to take home.) Several of our ladies took advantage of taking walks down the long driveway. The surrounding area was very beautiful. Som campgrounds have no showers or bathrooms and I've been places where I just went out in the woods and dug a hole lol then waited until I got home for a shower. It's a great campground! I mean it's a campground you're not in a $5000 a night hotel so enjoy it. It's one of the few places left like that. I'm generation X and there used to be those types of places everywhere when we were kids, and those places are disappearing quickly! so if you get a chance to take your kids to Beechwood acres, take them , disconnect from the wire and the Internet, and enjoy family time. Just electricity & water ONLY. There is NO shade at all. They have removed about 99.9% of the trees through-out the campsite to squeeze in as many campers as they can. You guessed it. You are packed in there like sardines. Camping right on top of one another. You can hear your neighbor snoring, that's how close you are camping next to the next camper. It's ridiculous. There is Mainly gravel, Zero grass. Look at my image. You can see how close the two fire pits are close together, a camper sides in that gravel slot next to us. So, yes that's very close!! O.M.G. The showers. NASTY, NASTY, NASTY. Reminds me of the hills has eyes. So scary! My children would not even go in them at all. Images attached. Hair attached to the side walls. The showers are 2'x3'. Very tiny. Not joking. Mold and rust through-out the entire shower room. Ceiling, floors, walls. Absolutely disgusting. You have a screen door to shut behind you, and lock, then a curtain to close, it does NOT even go all the way to the floor. ANYONE can easily Get in there!! You will need a tetanus shot leaving the shower. The restrooms, Very dirty, not cleaned daily. Toilet's do not flush, you know what it always in there. The playground is way too small, Very old and Needs updated. Quiet time starts at 11pm. Ha. That's not enforced at all. The drunks stay up all night and flock to the center of the campground yelling, screaming, fighting and arguing. Live bands & karaoke play to 12-1am. So, definitely twice before staying here. We regret it so much!
