I was soooo disappointed. Heard they had great cod and was dying to watch the football game Sunday night. Had a hard time with the echoing but the very rude manager did manage to turn it off for us after asking 3 times..Food took an hour and a half and mabe 15 people were there. 3 out of 4 of my table were even fed ( never got my cod) 1 was wrong, one was cold with no gravy and my cod just never came. Appetizer was a mess and gross...owner was even in eating dinner....and saw everything so I addressed her and she was worse than the manager. Here's the deal ... This place was ok until they got new owners which was within a year I think but since them this place has been so much better. Their food is not even comparable to the prepackaged food they served before. You notice imperfections in the cuts which tells me they are doing it right and making things homemade. Haven't been for karaoke for a long time so I can't comment on that aspect but the beers are cold and the food is good. I also like that they put more TVs in and added some lights. read more

Came for karaoke. Did not know about the one drink minimum. My friend asked for a water. Server told her she would could charge for the same price as a soda. My friend doesn't drink alcohol and can't have carbonation. So she end up getting a lemonade. But the server sure got testy about debating the legalities of charging for water in Arizona. I will add she was very nice to me. Saturday Night. Karaoke DJ Definitely has his favorite patrons. My $6 Dr Pepper seems to have the proper carbonation to syrup ratio that was a plus. November 2015 I went with a few people who are frequent flyers of this place. The waitress was friendly, quick to refill orders, and took the time to chat it up for a bit. The food was the quintessential bar food you get any "dive" bars - so don't expect much. I got the Pollo Arizona which come on a potato hamburger bun, grilled chicken, one slice of melted Monterrey jack cheese, a tablespoon of green chilis, 2 tomato slices, a large leaf of lettuce, and mayo. Not sure why it is called that, since it's not very southwestern. I wish there was a southwestern sauce, or something to add spice/flavor to it. Was in there tonight, started off great. Good drinks, prices, and people.... So I thought. These two guys walked in came out of the bathroom to sit at a table and a very tall bearded person at the bar turned around and started talking derogatory to these two people and he continued to Yellit them and he use the word faggot. That word is very offensive I don't think you want any of the alternative communities or newspapers writing about this bar. Absolutely the most terrible experience I've ever had. The waitress kicked us out because we had under 21 AFTER I had confirmed beforehand they could stay till the kitchen closed at midnight. Oh and she was completely incompetent. We brought in over 20+ people that night all buying food and drinks. Some did not get their order for over an hour. Karaoke host needs to be fired. His "regulars" sang twice before anyone else. That is not the way to attract new people. I have been going to karaoke shows for 20 years and have never seen as bad. Then when we did get kicked out well before the time I was told we could stay I check my CC and the waitress had put someone else's charge on my card. Boy I will say something about Simpleton's. I visit the establishment every weekend for NFL games with a crowd. Tonight, after the game, my date and I were refused further service. For the simple reason that my date was abrupt with the waitress and she took point. So, even though we are not intoxicated nor rude...we were asked to leave! A first in my 30 + years of visiting drinking establisments. Shame on you KIM AT SIMPLETONS for not rising above for a 15+ yr customer and not taking who he is personal. Hmmmmm served us for another 3 hours until the other staff left then decided out while party, including new folks, were cut off. Huge fail, since none of us were inebriated and had not only ordered their food but also bring in an entire group of football fans to spend their hard earned bucks in your establishment. This drunk (probably a regular) was harassing this very sweet old couple (the guy was a Vietnam veteran) and I told the bartender Alfred or whatever that he was starting trouble. Typical dive bar. I noticed if you're not a "regular" there then they won't look your way. They're simply there to collect a paycheck and whatever tips they can get, which even then they have no sense of urgency. They are all over the place and because of their unorganization, they forget you've been standing there waiting to order a drink. The food is so-so, nothing special, though fairly priced. If you go solely for Karaoke on Saturday nights expect to sing 1-2 songs, 3 if you're lucky. The rotation is too long to work it's way back around. I ordered a beer on tap, the glass smelled of Clorox Bleach and tasted old. Made me feel sick to my stomach. They need to call 'Bar Rescue' or something. When it comes to mixed drinks they are overpowering. For alcoholics this may not seem like an issue, but for those who are social, occasional drinkers who want a nice, fruity tasteful drink..forget about it. They guesstimate the outpouring. The decor is "weird" to say the least. Old Westerny Theme could sum it up. It's DEFINITELY NOT for the Younger scene. If you're looking to play darts, don't waste your time. This was the worst ever! Cheryl was our waitress and she really should consider another profession. Should have realized from the get go when she brought the wrong beer. It went downhill from there. Took more than 30 min to get a beer & almost 45 min for food to arrive. Now a good New York steak should stand alone very well with just salt & pepper, not here! it was a garlic steak, & not well cooked. I love garlic, but not like this on what should have been a great piece of beef. Med rare means there will be pink in the steak, not here! Med well means NO pink, not here! We were invited here by some friends on Saturday night to celebrate another friend's birthday. It's been a couple years since my last visit to Simpleton's but one thing that I remember was their burgers and fries. In fact, a couple of us have since referred to the burgers as "BABs" (big a** burgers). That's the first thing we ordered and I wasn't disappointed. The burgers are big, juicy and tasty. The large portion of fries on the side hit the spot too. I'd say that Simpleton's lives up to its name. It's a small bar, not too fancy and no frills but the food I've tried is good and priced right. If you're thirsting for draft beer, they have domestic pitchers for just $7. However, if you're looking for a bar that mixes quality specialty drink or shots, this probably isn't your place. We ordered "Washington Apples" - they ended up being really watery and overpriced. I'd go back for a BAB though! read more

Stopped in on Thursday night for Karaoke. It was moderately busy when we arrived with a couple of large groups. We seated ourselves and waited a little bit before our waitress came to greet us. We ordered our drinks and they were brought out in a timely manner. The menu is filled with typical bar food selections and many other yummy offers. The food is very good. We ordered the honey bbq wings. They were very good. The decor is modern divey. There is Karaoke Tuesday, Thursday Friday and Saturday. The noise level can get loud depending on the type of music being sung/played and how busy it is. This place is A-ok in my book and we will be back. read more

This was my kind of place. Located in a strip mall this bar is a little on the divey place. This not a bad thing because the staff was excellent the food very good and the prices better. I have been here quite a few times and one of the better nights is Tuesday for fish tacos. Some of the best fish tacos I have ever encountered. They are all you can eat and the fish was grilled rather than deep fried. The staff was very friendly and took care of us quickly and efficiently. Sometimes the look of an establishment can cause one to drive away, but, this one is a good relaxing restaurant and bar with good prices. read more

Our neighbor works here & has been talking it up, so we decided to stop for lunch. A few elders were also visiting. Lots of different sports on the surrounding TVs, which made it more entertaining for us. Our server was on-point & friendly. The menu also stated soup or salad and they didn't change the menu saying they don't offer that deal anymore and would not honor it. Poor policy since we asked about it, won't go back now. Simpletons neighborhood bar, has great karaoke, usually followed by a few that strut to the beat of a favorite song. There are some singers more popular than others, even a few that sound like a dying cow. Nobody cares, as we are all there to have a great time, besides the more alcohol you drink, the better everyone sounds. You'd most likely enjoy the awesome singing that comes from the famous Maestro, always a crowd pleaser followed by the smoothing country voice of cook, BIg Mike. Best cooks hand down, are Big Mike and Serjero. Everything, that I have ever ordered on the food menu has been top notch good for bar food in my opinion. A wide variety of hot and cold sandwiches, steamy homemade soup or pretty good chili, appetizers,along with salads for a healthier choice...although I do wish they'd offer some type of lower calorie vinaigrette. The atmosphere is rather chill from the patrons side of this family neighborhood bar. People are usually regulars, found to be there two, three, seven times a week. Everyone seems to know everyone and when a new person comes around they definitely stand out, so make your impression good :P As for televisions there are many screens to watch those football, hockey or basketball games. So go support your team with others. Now the most important part of any business....the management, and the staff. This is an overall commentary of my opinion, based on several visits. Adam, Simpleton's Manager - He is a great friendly guy but let's face it, overall he isn't at all assertive to handle the staff. His friendly demeanor although friendly doesn't always provide to the customer the best experience. While being friendly is good, there is a point where kitchen and staff lack how they present themselves to the public eye. Denise, Tina, Melissa, Sonya are great bar tenders. One can tell they truly like being there for the people and provide great service and extremely friendly. Summer- New fresh blood to Simpletons. She is a crowd pleaser as her smile glows and radiates, she teases back without crossing the fine line, she is assertive yet extroverted. Her personality is addictive, and Simpletons needed to bring her in, she is great and although new, you can tell she truly does try hard to make ones visit pleasurable. Misty- Let's just say, it depends on the night you catch her. She is like fire and ice, the first to burn you or the one to cool you down for a chillax time. She tends to over react or try to take control of any and all situations, on or off the clock. She can get rather moody and at other times create a great cat fight brawl behind the bar with other cooks or waitresses, within the public eye. Then followed by storming into the ladies bathroom or outside to have a smoke. She loves her little pink phone and texting....on one occasion I attempted to get a drink refill twice and waited and waited for her to be behind the bar, but she was found to be outside. Other times she is chill and fun, that's the side of her I like. She has a beautiful smile and can be a caring person, but unfortunately most the time she seems to not care too much for the patrons unless they are a part of her clique. Simpletons, is a friendly neighborhood bar. You won't sit alone, as there is always someone that will talk to you. The worst part is waiting to cash out on your tab, that for some reason can take a lot of time. Overall, I recommend you give it a whirl and try it. This place is nice and chill, it's like stepping into a time machine into the early seventies. You feel like people should do the "norm!" Thing when you walk in. Very homey and down to earth. Great food , I like the battered veggies for appetizers and the all you can eat cod is great. It's really an excellent bar just to drink. But the food is very good. I just like that it feels like an old time bar. It's not a gd buffalo wild wings or some other sports bar on steroids. It's got plenty of tvs , bit small for my taste but lots of sports games on. Beer is cold carbonated very good. And the waitresses are super friendly and are sweet. They have an all you can eat cod day on Friday. Could be Saturday.. I can't remember sorry. I think they start karaoke at 9 pm. It's fun. I don't participate but I enjoy listening to others sing. Just don't sit next to the speakers . You will go deaf. They play that shiz loud as f.
