I lived at the 2504 Vine St. apartments. Let me get the one con out of the way: the housing stock…read moreis not terrific. Older, cheaper units in an older, cheaper neighborhood. Having said that, you get what you pay for. For $430 a month (rent and utilities), I never complained. Now, what really set them apart was their customer service. I typically hear horror stories from other people about their landlords. Fortunately, in my year of living with Cherry Hill, I never had such a problem. The only time I needed to call maintenance, for a leaking toilet, they had a guy out the next day. Literally, the next day. I wish I could remember his name, because he was super friendly and fixed the problem right away. I believe the landlord's name was Tim, and he was a good guy, very professional. He even had my security deposit returned to me within two weeks of moving back home. The location is awesome. Some native Lincolnites may call it "a bad neighborhood," but (no offense to native Lincolnites), if you're from any kind of a developed city, it's absolutely nothing to worry about. I would go for walks around there at night and never felt afraid. If you go to UNL, there's the 24 bus (IIRC) that stops right in front of the complex on Vine St. There's plenty of great restaurants within a short walk, plus a Walgreens and a 24-hour McDonalds. So yeah, in conclusion, the housing stock ain't that great, but for the price, and the location, you're getting a solid deal. Management and maintenance are above-par. Definitely a place worth checking out.

Renting from RRE has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had as a tenant…read more When I moved in, the property had no working smoke detectors -- a basic safety requirement. I was told they'd be installed right away, but after four months of delays and broken promises, I contacted the Lincoln City Inspectors, who confirmed the detectors had been missing for over five years. The city issued a citation, and shortly after that, RRE retaliated by cancelling all existing service requests and has ignored every repair request I've submitted since December 23, 2024. The home has serious safety and health issues, including: * Rodent infestation due to missing vent screens (confirmed by the Lincoln Health Department) * Toxic air and poor ventilation, triggering regular asthma attacks * HVAC failure -- the ductwork doesn't deliver air to the first floor, making it unlivable year-round * Unpaid trash service, even though it's part of my rent -- I was contacted directly by the trash company due to months of non-payment * Exterior damage, including loose siding hanging over the garage To make matters worse, a neighbor -- who attends the same church as the owner, Dana -- informed me just this week that Dana is intentionally refusing to make repairs and is bragging that she will continue to collect rent from me for the remainder of my lease as punishment for reporting the safety violations to the city. This is not just poor property management -- it's retaliatory, negligent, and unethical behavior. RRE demands full rent on time each month but fails to uphold basic responsibilities under Nebraska tenant law. If you're looking to rent in Lincoln, do yourself a favor and avoid RRE. There are plenty of other property management companies that treat tenants with respect and follow the law -- this is not one of them. The positive reviews on here are from the friends and family of the owners of RRE.

Our experience with Century Sales & Management has been frustrating from the start and ended in a…read morecomplete breakdown of communication and accountability. Throughout our tenancy, we encountered ongoing problems: * Inspections labeled "Annual" were conducted every few months, often with vague notices providing less than 24 hours' notice * We were wrongly charged for lawn care, despite the lease not clearly assigning that responsibility and were only refunded after disputing it and pointing out their listing. * There was a serious delay replacing damaged patio stairs, creating a safety hazard that should have been a priority before we even moved in. * The company repeatedly charged us for renters insurance we already had, and it took constant effort on our end to have it removed. * When it came time to renew, we were told we needed to give 53 days' notice, even though the lease only required 30. A misleading tactic that felt like an attempt to trap tenants But the final straw was how our security deposit was mishandled after we moved out in May. We were charged for general cleaning, carpet cleaning, and even items like drip pans and a cracked refrigerator door all without documentation or proof of damage. For context: the fridge crack existed at move-in, and the drip pans needed replaced, which we did ourselves (approx. $10). We didn't report these issues at the time because we didn't want to nitpick. Yet they used them against us without evidence. We followed their move-out checklist and thoroughly cleaned the unit. Nebraska law only allows cleaning deductions if a unit is left in an excessively dirty condition, which was not the case. Still, they failed to provide any invoices, receipts, or photos to justify the charges. All of which are legally required. The manager, Brian, even told us they aren't required to provide anything more than a generic letter that says "Cleaning (Damage)." This isn't just dismissive, it blatantly disregards Nebraska law, which mandates a detailed, itemized statement for any deductions from a security deposit. All we asked for was transparency and accuracy. After weeks of vague, inconsistent communication, errors on our move-out statement, and being completely ignored, we filed formal complaints with the BBB and the Nebraska Attorney General. Only after those complaints were submitted and the full email chain was forwarded to the company's CEO did they suddenly change course, stating they will issuing what they framed as a "courtesy" refund of the full deposit. This company has shown a consistent pattern of poor communication, legal missteps, and disregard for tenant rights. We would not rent from them again and strongly advise others to stay away.

I am very displeased with any conversation we have due to lack of information and things getting done. Neighbors set our apartment on fire and landlords did nothing. We went 2 months (July/August) with no air conditioning and they never came to fix it. We had mold growing in multiple places around the house and no one came to fix it. They fixed a water pipe leak by duct taping the pipe and told us to "not use that bathroom." They'll say whatever they need to just to get you off their back, and then do absolutely nothing. We've been waiting endlessly for a second dryer that was promised, only to be fed excuse after excuse: "We need permission from the owner," "We don't have keys"--really? Total BS. They clearly don't care about tenants once you've signed the lease. The lady in the office is a real peach to deal with (note the sarcasm), and the property manager, Taryn, is incredibly difficult to work with. The entire complex has been asking for Allo internet service for months. Instead of helping, Marcy told tenants we had to contact Allo ourselves to request a site survey. When we did, Allo informed us they've been trying to reach Taryn for months with no success--just to get approval to wire the building! If something needs to be repaired or replaced, you might as well do it yourself. The maintenance crew is useless--can't even handle a five-minute task without dragging it out or screwing it up. But of course, they still want to raise the rent without maintaining the property. Save yourself the headache. This property management place is a joke, and the people running it make it worse. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
