I was told they'd be installed right away, but after four months of delays and broken promises, I contacted the Lincoln City Inspectors, who confirmed the detectors had been missing for over five years. The city issued a citation, and shortly after that, RRE retaliated by cancelling all existing service requests and has ignored every repair request I've submitted since December 23, 2024. The home has serious safety and health issues, including: * Rodent infestation due to missing vent screens (confirmed by the Lincoln Health Department) * Toxic air and poor ventilation, triggering regular asthma attacks * HVAC failure -- the ductwork doesn't deliver air to the first floor, making it unlivable year-round * Unpaid trash service, even though it's part of my rent -- I was contacted directly by the trash company due to months of non-payment * Exterior damage, including loose siding hanging over the garage To make matters worse, a neighbor -- who attends the same church as the owner, Dana -- informed me just this week that Dana is intentionally refusing to make repairs and is bragging that she will continue to collect rent from me for the remainder of my lease as punishment for reporting the safety violations to the city. This is not just poor property management -- it's retaliatory, negligent, and unethical behavior. RRE demands full rent on time each month but fails to uphold basic responsibilities under Nebraska tenant law. If you're looking to rent in Lincoln, do yourself a favor and avoid RRE. There are plenty of other property management companies that treat tenants with respect and follow the law -- this is not one of them. The positive reviews on here are from the friends and family of the owners of RRE.

Throughout our tenancy, we encountered ongoing problems: * Inspections labeled "Annual" were conducted every few months, often with vague notices providing less than 24 hours' notice * We were wrongly charged for lawn care, despite the lease not clearly assigning that responsibility and were only refunded after disputing it and pointing out their listing. * There was a serious delay replacing damaged patio stairs, creating a safety hazard that should have been a priority before we even moved in. * The company repeatedly charged us for renters insurance we already had, and it took constant effort on our end to have it removed. * When it came time to renew, we were told we needed to give 53 days' notice, even though the lease only required 30. A misleading tactic that felt like an attempt to trap tenants But the final straw was how our security deposit was mishandled after we moved out in May. We were charged for general cleaning, carpet cleaning, and even items like drip pans and a cracked refrigerator door all without documentation or proof of damage. For context: the fridge crack existed at move-in, and the drip pans needed replaced, which we did ourselves (approx. $10). We didn't report these issues at the time because we didn't want to nitpick. Yet they used them against us without evidence. We followed their move-out checklist and thoroughly cleaned the unit. Nebraska law only allows cleaning deductions if a unit is left in an excessively dirty condition, which was not the case. Still, they failed to provide any invoices, receipts, or photos to justify the charges. All of which are legally required. The manager, Brian, even told us they aren't required to provide anything more than a generic letter that says "Cleaning (Damage)." This isn't just dismissive, it blatantly disregards Nebraska law, which mandates a detailed, itemized statement for any deductions from a security deposit. All we asked for was transparency and accuracy. After weeks of vague, inconsistent communication, errors on our move-out statement, and being completely ignored, we filed formal complaints with the BBB and the Nebraska Attorney General. Only after those complaints were submitted and the full email chain was forwarded to the company's CEO did they suddenly change course, stating they will issuing what they framed as a "courtesy" refund of the full deposit. This company has shown a consistent pattern of poor communication, legal missteps, and disregard for tenant rights. We would not rent from them again and strongly advise others to stay away.

Worst apartment rental experience of my life. Run as far…read moreaway from this company as you can! Management itself is okay, but the building at 2015 J St. is absolutely disgusting, inside and out. The entire year we lived there, we dealt with cockroaches, loud neighbors, and the constant smell of marijuana and smoke. Clothing, bedding, even our Tupperware, all smelled of smoke when we were out of the apartment and elsewhere. It's going to take weeks and multiple washes in the laundry to get rid of the smell of smoke from our items. Other tenants smoked marijuana and it was constantly going through the vent and into our unit, leaving its nasty smell. I complained multiple times, the first, an email was sent to all tenants that this needed to stop, the second time I complained, nothing was done. I complained on MANY occasions that there was a cockroach infestation in the building, they really didn't seem to care, only scheduling pest control when someone complained. I'm not an exterminator but I know you have to have pest control come on a regular basis in order to take care of an issue. I would find cockroaches crawling on our dishes in the cupboards, in drawers with our silverware, in our dishwasher, crawling on the floor, basically everywhere in the apartment. Pretty sure if anyone that works for this company has this issue at their home, they would do what was necessary to deal with it. After moving and unpacking we found cockroaches crawling around, that we had to take care of quickly, not to cause another issue. Had to throw out our expensive coffee maker, as they were coming from that. Upon moving in, we found two cigarette burns in the carpet, asked if this could be taken care of, they said they would figure something out, nothing was done. We also asked that the locks be changed after we moved in. They were switched from another door...in the same building. The wrong key was given to my fiancé and we ended up being locked out that evening. The guy who came to let us in accused us of switching keys with the person below us, as they had the right key...? We were also only given 1 key, when asked for another, we were told to go and get one made....excuse me, what? Any other apartment I have lived in, this would have been a huge issue. Other tenants are nice, but are constantly heard fighting, screaming and arguing. Overall, my fiancé and I wish we would have spent the few extra dollars and gotten a way better place to live while in Lincoln. I wouldn't recommend renting an apartment or home from them. Charges 214.50 for a cleaning fee, I am positive we left the place in better condition that when we moved in.

This is a massive apartment complex with multiple buildings of varying styles and degrees of renovation. There is a huge beautiful pool area at the clubhouse, a gym with a reasonable amount of equipment that was usually always working, and a party room for rent. The office staff is friendly and helpful and the maintenance staff is wonderful to work with. I lived on Norfolk drive in one of the newer buildings. It was a three story locked entry building that always had a working elevator and the hallways and floors were cleaned weekly. Mail boxes and garbage were conveniently located close to my building. Plenty of uncovered parking space and both the parking lot and sidewalks were always kept in fantastic shape. In winter, they were salted and snow was shoveled. In the spring and summer the gardening was impeccable. My apartment was a spacious 2 bedroom with a bonus sunroom off the master bedroom. I live in a house now and still dream about the size of that bedroom, it was phenomenal. Huge sunken tub and separate shower in the bathroom. Nicely sized spare bedroom and bath and a beautiful up to date kitchen and living area. The apartment has its own water heater and central heating and air. It is very easy to keep your home comfortable regardless of what Nebraska weather is giving you. The walls and floors are pretty great in regards to sound proofing. I only occasionally heard muffled noise and never had any noise complaints for myself. The balconies were pretty large and mine faced a beautiful running trail and waterway. In the summer the fireflies danced off the water and in the winter a local fox frequently frolicked in the snow. It was a hard apartment to let go of. The rent was super affordable and never drastically went up or down year to year. In the end, all of my deposit minus the carpet cleaning was returned to me and my move out was as seamless as the three years I rented here. I think this is undoubtedly the best apartment I have ever lived in.
